I wouldn’t say i like our chances ... but i think we have a much better chance than most think and here’s why ...

- trap game .. they had the chiefs last week and the seahags next week .. could this be a letdown game for them ..

- they lost two of the best defensive players in the NFL just last week ..

- teams seem to always play above their heads in the first week with a new starting qb ... obviously that trend hasn’t worked here for the last 20 years ... WERE DUE ... *L* ...

- we get Collins back and hopefully MG can play more ...

Oddly I feel better about this game than i did last weeks .... and that is TOTTALY ILLOGICAL ... *L* ..

Me thinks we got a shot dawgs .. are the stars aligned? ..

Maybe.. I appreciate you admitting it's totally illogical.

My fear is that our defense is going to look ok most of the time.. then in critical situations we are going to have our safety 40 yards deep and Watson is going to scramble through the line and not see another Brown for 20 yards...

That is my prediction, Watson is going to kill us with his legs, maybe not for a ton of yardage but in critical situations, he's going to hurt us.

Watson is going to have a chip on his shoulder for this game. I don't see it being a trap for him.

I think he is going to show the world we made another mistake.

I don't think we have the attitude of a "trap team". To be one, you need to obvious weaker team, which we are, but also be the more focused and hungrier team than the other, which we aren't.

The Browns are my team, but we have no confidence (I don't think it's right to question a players heart). Our role in the league is to be rolled every week and we seem to know our role.

Is the current line 9 1/2?

Hold on.

9.5 * 3.333% = ~ 32%
32% + 50 % = 82%
100% - 82% = 18%

Browns have a ~ 18% chance of winning the game according to Vegas betting lines and assuming Browns are 9 1/2 dawgs.

About 1 out of 5 chance.

Pick a number from 1-to-5.

Sometimes you pick the right number.

Better than the roll of a die.

Trap game? The Jets did nothing except get dressed, go out on the field and we handed them a win. The Texans just need to take the field and they’ll win.

Our secondary is very likely to get torched.

I actually see this game as a blowout.

Houston - 38

Browns - 17

Bad passing D with a good mobile QB + Bad passing O and a good D

A lot has to change for this not to be a blowout.

Houston is the first good team we are facing.

I would like to see Peppers play spy on Watson whilst playing closer to the LOS as the 8th man in the box. We don't win if we allow Watson time of any magnitude but he is a rookie. Garrett playing, Collins back. This is a game where I just want us to run blitz the be-jesus and see where it stacks because we cannot give their receivers time to develop routes and plays. Stop the run, force Watson into making decisions before he is ready. Take the hit on big plays if need be but we need to be tighter in coverage to take away the huge windows of opportunity.

I've been thinking pretty much the same exact thoughts the last few days.

They've also only scored well (thus far) against bad defenses - Tenn, KC, and NE are all rated in the bottom 1/3. Against Jax (14th) and the Bengals (2nd), they scored 7 and 13 points. We're 5th, so I'm hoping their low point total rings true with us as well.

It could be.

Hopefully, the self-proclaimed genius that is Gregg Williams can design something to throw Watson off of his game. I don't think Houston's OL is very good at all. And I think it is too early to anoint Watson as a very good qb. A lot of his positive stats last week were in garbage time. This is about the time of year DC's can start game-planning against young qbs.

You're right that the Texans also lost two great defensive players. Everyone knows Watt is, but Mercilus is one of the NFL's very best and might be it's most underrated player.

I think guys like Mercilus, Justin Houston in KC, and Cox in Philly don't get nearly enough credit.

Back to our game. I wonder how well Hogan will play? I have no idea, but he is going to have play much better than Kizer was for us to have a chance.

For sure - with only 5 games in the books, one bad game could highly skew ratings.

To be honest, the way they rate defenses is bad. It is based on yards. It should be a few things - yards given up, points given up (against the defense only), turnovers, sacks, etc... all combined and a formula to decide it - kind of like the QB rating, but logical

And even then, garbage time yards/scores would skew even that stat.

I don't like our defense vs Houston. Not even a little bit. Our secondary is super suspect... and I haven't seen our rush doing anything even close to mitigating that. Remember what Jacoby Brissett did to us? Watson has wheels, he's going to get at least 1 score with a keeper.

The hardest part for the Houston offense will be figuring out who is going to bring the ball into the endzone.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Deshaun Watson had 2 TDs in his first game, 4 in his second and 5 more in his third. There were articles pre-draft about us living to regret passing on him, and like last year against the Eagles, we will see the results of passing on yet another quality starting QB. My bet is at least another 5 TDs against us and maybe adding a 6th for good measure.

I predict that Travis Kelce will have a huge game.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I haven't felt this confident about us getting a win since last Sunday morning lol.

They lost Watt and that other guy. Huge pieces to replace.
We got a shot. I agree with Vers about Greg Williams: we're facing a rookie QB who's looked good, but he is still a rook - get after him.
I have a feeling ogbah will have a great game because he's going back home....

Hogan needs to play well for us to have a chance.

My biggest concern is that the Browns struggle against power backs. Collins in Balt managed to be the only real guy to run on the defense. I hope Freeman doesn't kill us.

People are losing their minds over Watson right now. He was 10-21 before he got smoking hot vs KC. More importantly, he is a rookie and a rookie QB is prone to mistakes. I would make him try to beat the Browns with his arm. I dont think he is able to do that right now

you had a good run Hank.

MG could be part of the answer for Watson. Taylor could have a very bad day. Collins could help us a bunch. Hope Williams gets us after him. Peppers might be able to show something this week to disrupt Watson, although he hasn't shown much for us thus far.

We are playing defense with Hogan. Long drives and scores would help us limit Watson.
This game has some interesting matchups with Watt down IMO.

It's just our luck we are starting KH and 2 of our O-lineman are out the worst being Tretter the C. Even more for Kevin to overcome. It wouldn't be our Browns if there weren't a few extra problems.

Has something changed? Last I saw both Tretter and Coleman are expected to play. I don't think Rieiter is much of a drop off anyway.

This could be a high scoring affair if the Browns had WRs that could actually catch and get up field.
Maybe Williams will get some targets
Njoku and Duke are the only 2 real threats for the Texans.
I don't see the Browns defense holding the Texans offense in check.
Fuller and Hopkins are match up problems.
Watson can expose a over zealous Williams

Has it ever been easy? When was the last time we won a laugher?I need a win, but I could REALLY use a laugher after all the nonsense we have put out there. Hope Hogan sets the bar higher and moves us some. And I hope Hue has somebody explain how to call some so they leave the box less packed. If we can't do it all, decide our will be done on some things.

Go, Browns!
