Conservatives have the king of political satire sitting in the OVAL.

Political satire just really isn't a conservative/right-wing thing. The thing is that those on the right are on the right side of reality...
Now THIS is hilarious satire. You win the internet!!

The right needs a good political satirist; I’ll watch good satire regardless of the content. The problem is that conservatives take themselves too seriously and are incapable of laughing at themselves. Our satirist will roast liberals and we don’t care cause it’s all good. Conservatives will start the “if you don’t like it here you can leave” nonsense that will ruin the mood. Dennis Miller is king at satire. The PROBLEM is, and you seen it with guys like Weinstein, is Hollywood is a liberal boys club, and they wont allow a right wing person like that. Guys like Weinstein? Movie producers? or just neoliberals in Hollywood? Or do you mean sexual predators? In that case, you gotta ask what the hell was Fox News doing sleeping on this guy? We know what they were thinking. "How do we sleep with the women?" Also, let's not pretend that Dennis Miller is some no name. The dude killed it on SNL. I think he's top 4 Weekend Update hosts of all time. That's a very long list, with a lot of stars, mind you. He also hosted a late night show that was decently popular. Of course, it was cancelled because Jay Leno's agent/Producer, who strong armed everyone, would ban celebs from Leno's show if they appeared on another talk show. You can't get interesting guests (to make fun of), then your show will suck. Finally, does Dennis Miller event want to do something like that? Dude doesn't even run a podcast. Doubt he'd want a full time show. I was not implying that about Miller, he is one of my favorite comedians of all time, actually.

Think about it-- as people get older and acquire more life experiences, they tend to get more conservative. The reverse is much less common. What does it say about a political ideology when people grow out of it as they get older and wiser?

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Alex Jones. He's a pretty funny guy in a crazy sort of way.

If they're funny beyond that, it's gotta be the most simple material of a simple liberal argument that can be made fun of. Thanks 40 for proving my point.

The right needs a good political satirist; I’ll watch good satire regardless of the content. Political satire just really isn't a conservative/right-wing thing. The thing is that those on the right are on the right side of reality, so any uncensored platform or lightly-censored platform quickly becomes dominated by conservative types. Exactly. Haus is right. You cannot make a satire when you are the oppressing class. Redeye got cancelled earlier this year and was already showing at 3 AM for years before that. Conservatives just can't make fun of liberals without sounding out of touch with reality. "Ha! These stupid liberals want women to receive fair pay! Maybe after they make me a sandwich. HAHAHAHA!" That's why you'll only see conservative satire be successful when talking about government spending/waste. If they're funny beyond that, it's gotta be the most simple material of a simple liberal argument that can be made fun of. That's why guys like Andy Levy can be funny for a minute a week, but you can't build a TV show around that. Yeah, the sandwich jokes are just cringeworthy and not my style. Regarding the $1.00/$0.77 pay gap, the reality is that the large majority of that can be explained right off the bat by career chosen and number of hours worked. Liberals make no effort to equate those or any other factors. They just see the difference in pay and automatically assume discrimination. At best there is a few percent difference when you equate career choice and hours worked, but even then-- there is not even an attempt to compare performance or any other factor. It is automatically assumed to be sexism. Now it may be, or it may not be... I would just like to see more intellectual honesty from the social justice types. That's unlikely at best. Yes. That .77:1 is a bogus number from one bad study for comparison. But if the study was to be redeemable, the macro trends of gender and race do show evidence of a systemic bias, if not a problem. I think hispanic women made .33 and black women made .55, with their male counterparts also making less than their white counterparts. I think white women made .88, but I haven't looked at the study in months. That said, there are many reports now that take in many factors, including location(!) into their look. The gap is still there, but it's around 5-10 cents now. I think it's becoming less and less of a problem as women continue to outperform men in collegiate degrees.

This guy was funny. I miss the chalkboard of truth. Maybe Alex just needs a chalkboard of truth? He could probably con his listeners into buying them; I'm sure John Oliver could help him find a strategy by analyzing the videos as he did on his one recent episode.

Think about it-- as people get older and acquire more life experiences, they tend to get more conservative. The reverse is much less common. What does it say about a political ideology when people grow out of it as they get older and wiser? Because sadly as most people grow older they don’t push themselves to explore outside their comfort zone. They may travel, but they stay at an all inclusive resort where the only locals they meet are bringing them drinks. They get more entrenched in their own selves and family units. Becoming protectionist of what is ‘theirs’. They seek affirmation not information. Hence I ‘lost’ my dad years ago to Rush and his ilk. The older most people get the more imbittered they often become. They lose their youthful optimism. And with it their spark. I’m 45. Probably more liberal now that I was growing up in the Midwest. I travel and stay off the beaten path in an attempt to see how others live. I’m liberal because I know that my experiences are mine but others have walked very different paths. I don’t wish to make them walk my path nor feel as though their path needs adjusted to fit my standard. Nor am I afraid of their path. I honestly feel like a lot of conservatism is fear based. Fear that you might have to experience something uncomfortable. Something that’s not an American run Hyatt on a Jamaican beach.

For real. What’s said... “Merle and I went to Mexico on a cruise.” What’s reality... Merle and Martha got into a floating mall with buffet lines and floated to Mexico. There they got off the boat and traveled no further than a mile and a half inland. Shopping for trinkets to bring their grandkids along the way. Then they returned to the ‘safety’ of the ship before the street lights came on.

Lol pretty much.
If you go to a different country and only stay in the tourist areas where everyone speaks English, then you really didn’t travel.

I'm not really trying to go to bat for anyone here, but we are all a product of a lifetime of our own experiences. Some people are more adventurous than others.
I do understand that people talk out the side of their own neck sometimes. They try to tell people how they should think and feel while they have no idea of what experiences those people have endured. They tell them racism isn't that bad anymore when they have never experienced the need to give their children "the talk", or haven't been profiled and pulled over for no reason on several occasions. I see how that can be frustrating.
But we are all a product of our own experiences. As such, we all have at least some pre conceived notions of how things are.

Tim Allen and another actress (don't remember) have complained lately about getting blackballed because of their political leanings. I don't recall a tear being shed (besides their own). I also don't recall it getting all that much airtime. Tim Allen's latest show, Last Man Standing, actually had pretty stellar ratings, but was cancelled abruptly.
I do get it that Tim Allen isn't going to get much sympathy because he's already "made it". What I don't get is the side that regularly trumpets fairness and equality has no problem putting that on hold for people they don't agree with.
Hypocrites.

"Russia Russia Russia" Fear mongering is on equally on the left as it is on the right, face it, its just the politics of our country. At least those are real threats. I work in the healthcare industry. It’s scary what the human body can do. How fragile we are. How expensive it can be to heal ourselves. Having healthcare taken away is no joke. Having the looming threat of a diagnosis bankrupting you is a real threat. One I feel most Americans are in denial of. Nukes? We have petulant child with a fragile ego running our country. And a similar wacko running another nuclearized country. Hmmmm guess I shouldn’t see that as a threat? Russia? Meh. I do think they medle in our business too much. Getting into our social media and spreading mistruths. They are a threat but I don’t lose sleep. Conservatives on the other hand see a threat in two dudes that love each other wanting to get married. Or a person born with a penis that’s lived as a woman for most of their adult lives, generally undetected, possibly peeing a stall next to them, even though they’ve likely been doing it for years undetected, as a threat. Or a woman they’ve never met, living thousands of miles away in the opposite coast, having an abortion, as a threat. Or a public business not being able to discriminate, as a threat. I’ll stand proudly on my side of the line.

That’s true Pit.
But people lack perspective and the ability to put themselves in others shoes.
For example, I’m not a woman, and I’ll never fully understand what they go through. However, I’m capable of seeing from their perspective why it is a lot of them don’t say anything about sexual harassment when they are trying to make it in their careers.
There people who either can’t do it, or refuse to look at that situation from a woman’s perspective.
Same with war in the Middle East, or any other complicated issue.
It’s one thing to not be aware. It’s another to Straight up dismiss anybody who IS aware through experience, even though their own is lacking.

Why do dems hate poor people? How is that elitist? I grew up in the trashiest neighborhood, most likely the worst of anyone on this board. Beyond poor. I didn’t travel because I had bread. I traveled due to my job plus being able to budget properly. And traveling has less to do about money and more to do with priority and time. I got into this very discussion with a guy on another board. Dude said he never traveled yet always spent cash for season tickets to patriots and celtics games. But of course a conservative like you would think EVERYTHING has to do with money.

A lot of the country is too busy working, raising kids, and paying bills. Dragging kids to europe really isnt gonna happen for a lot of people. Going to the beach is a lot more realistic.

Did you travel because of your military experience? Did you have a sick family member you were caring for when you traveled? etc. etc. do you not think there are people that would love to get out of Detroit or Chicago for a weekend? Or get out of bum hills Alabama? Its elitist because your comment is demeaning someone for not traveling and putting "blame" for not doing so.

And who just appointed some of them to their cabinet?
If you don't understand how Wall Street plays both sides of the street, then you can't be helped.
And those poor whites? In most cases you just need to salute the flag and feed them a little BS and they'll follow.
I guess you forgot how it was Trump who said he loved the uneducated. It's easy to see why.
