There's been talk in the NBA about getting rid of the East/West format in the playoffs ... and just seed strictly based on record. This would mean the regular season would be MUCH more important (teams would be more reluctant to rest starters and coast down the stretch) ... and it would also mean the playoffs would be MUCH more interesting in the earlier rounds.

It might also mean that they'd just get rid of conferences all together. The regular season schedule would look something like this:

- Play every team away once (31 games)
- Play ever team home once (31 games)
- Play 20 random games (10 home, 10 away) and have this change each year

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/adam-...hedule-changes/

Just to see what it'd look like, here would have been the playoff bracket last year:

1. Golden State
16. Miami

8. LA Clippers
9. Washington

4. Boston
13. Milwaukee

5. Cleveland
12. Memphis

2. San Antonio
15. Chicago

7. Utah
10. Oklahoma City

3. Houston
14. Indiana

6. Toronto
11. Atlanta

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

the logistics on that would be crazy, i can't see the owners agreeing to that

I would think it'd add a lot more travel... You'd have to do away with conferences,,there'd be no point...

I'm not really an NBA fan, but if you want to make the regular season more meaningful, you don't let 16 teams into your post-season. 8 teams would make the regular season more meaningful, but they'll never do it, because $$.

That would be like cutting the baseball season to 120/`130 games .. Make more sense , but will never happen !

I would like it they found a way to make teams more balanced instead of having a couple super teams that win everything every year. Makes me not care about watching other teams that much. Because who cares.

Having only the best teams make the playoffs makes the most sense. The East is so bad that they have do something.
