I'd love for one of our guys to sign(preferably Joe) before camp but it doesn't look like it.

Finally, something to actually report in this thread! Ref, maybe you can get rid of all the superfluous stuff (except Hack's link about Timmons). Hopefully they'll start pouring in now.

No doubt. They took the process seriously, and now have their picks ready to go.

EAGLES SIGN KEVIN KOLB by Michael David Smith

PFT Editor Mike Florio checks in to report that the Eagles have reached a contract agreement with their first pick in this year's draft, quarterback Kevin Kolb.

The deal guarantees Kolb $2.62 million, which is an 11.5 percent increase over the player chosen in the same slot last year, Patriots receiver Chad Jackson.

Kolb was a four-year starter at Houston and the Eagles' surprise first pick. Philly traded out of the first round and grabbed Kolb 36th overall.

Although Donovan McNabb is the Eagles' starter for now, Kolb is widely perceived as the Eagles' quarterback of the future.

Uh, I'm not sure that "first pick" is the same as "first round". But, I could be mistaken.

Rams | Talking extension with Bulger
Tue, 24 Jul 2007 16:48:30 -0700

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams Jay Zygmunt, who is the team's president of football operations and general manager, spent most of the morning Tuesday, July 24, with agent Tom Condon discussing a contract extension for QB Marc Bulger. The two sides are expected to continue talking.

Saints reach deal with top pick Meachem

NFL.com wire reports

NEW ORLEANS (July 24, 2007) -- Wide receiver Robert Meachem, the 27th pick in the NFL draft, agreed with the New Orleans Saints on a five-year contract.

New Orleans' deal with Meachem means the Saints managed to get all seven of their draft picks in the fold before they were due to report to training camp in Jackson, Miss., on July 25.

"It has been a priority for us to get all of our picks signed and have them available from day one," general manager Mickey Loomis said. "Robert has worked hard since he joined our team and we expect more of that to come in training camp and beyond."

The team policy is to not disclose financial terms, but a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press the total value of the contract exceeded $11 million with a signing bonus of more than $5.7 million. The person requested anonymity because the contract had not been signed.

The 6-foot-2, 214-pound Meachem is expected to compete for a starting job that opened up when the Saints released veteran Joe Horn, who has since signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Meachem left after his junior season at Tennessee, when he caught 71 passes for 1,298 yards and 11 touchdowns.

However, he has struggled through his initial offseason work with the Saints, showing up out of shape, then spraining an ankle in rookie camp. When he returned for minicamp in June, his right knee, on which he had surgery in 2003, began to swell.

Meachem has since had an arthroscopic procedure to clean out some loose cartilage and repair his medial meniscus. He was not expected to miss any training camp practices, which begin on July 27 after the team reports July 25 and holds meetings on July 26.

The team's number one pick.....whether it's the 1st round or whatever round their top choice is in. Like next year for example is if status stays, our number one pick or first pick will be in the 2nd round.

Anthony Gonzalez WR Indianapolis Colts
Height: 6'0' Weight: 195 DOB: 9/18/1984 Age: 22
Jul. 25, 2007 - 3:37 p.m. ET
The Colts, according to Scout.com, have come to terms with first-round pick WR Anthony Gonzalez on a five-year contract.
The 32nd pick in the draft, Gonzalez is ideally suited to take the vacated possesion receiver slot following the departure of Brandon Stokley. While not a every week fantasy starter off the bat, the former Ohio State Buckeye and his 4.4 speed will be a player to watch, especially in dynasty leagues.

Jamaal Anderson-DL- Falcons Jul. 25 - 10:09 pm et

Falcons signed DE Jamaal Anderson to a five-year contract that can max out at $31 million. He will receive $15.361 million in guarantees.

He's the highest draft pick to sign thus far. Anderson can trigger a $5 million escalator if he reaches 30 sacks in three years or 40 sacks in four years - lofty goals. He only started one year in college, but was a beast with 19.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. He'll probably start as a rookie over Chauncey Davis.

Pick # 8, earliest so far. Probably not close enough, but could help with the JT negotiations.

Aaron Ross-DB- Giants Jul. 26 - 10:19 am et

Giants signed first-round CB Aaron Ross to a five-year, $13.5 million deal.

The deal includes $8 million guaranteed. Ross, the No. 20 pick, should immediately upgrade a secondary that was porous all 2006. The Texas press corner has elite ball skills, as evidenced by his six picks as a senior.

Gaines Adams is signed...

Bucs signed DE Gaines Adams, the No. 4 overall pick, to a six-year contract with a max value of $46 million. $18.56 million is guaranteed.
Adams, a relentless pass rusher who played eight-man prep ball before starring at Clemson, will immediately push Simeon Rice and Greg Spires for their starting jobs. While Adams would ideally play right end (Rice's position), he also could overtake the left end spot and move Spires to under tackle.

Well two of our three first day picks are first rounders...

Out of all three I really think Eric Wright is the one who NEEDS to be in camp.

Nah, Wright will be fine because he can mostly play on an island at CB. Joe Thomas is the one who really needs to get into camp. We only have one returning starter on the OL and we need as much time as possible for the OL to gel. This will be a huge issue at the beginning of the season, and with 3 of our first 4 games against division rivals, we can't afford to screw it up.

Hopefully the Gaines Adams and the Aaron Ross signings get Brady and Joe into camp soon. For Brady - average what Timmons & Ross got and offer it to Brady - take it or leave it and focus on Joe. It'd be a huge increase for Brady, but probably not what Condon wants.

#10 should jump at that, it would be like pick 17 or 18 money. I would expect them to possibly average Ross (pick #20) and Spencer (#26), add a bit to that (since that averages to #23 money). Or go just a step or two down from what Ross received, CB's are not skinny contract players (ask Clements )

With Thomas, since Gaines Adams is signed that gives you the minimum the contract could be, add a realistic, respectable amount and get him in camp. Easier said than done, 'other' points on the contract could be the real hold up.

I just read on a different board that Triv said 2 of our 3 1st day picks are signed (or very close to it). I assume they are Wright and Thomas. I'll keep checking....

It's the fact that rookie holdouts in the NFL are not only common place, but almost expected of most first round picks. Did anyone here, once we the realization of picking Quinn sunk in....did you pretty much expect that he'd hold out? I did. And the fact that it's common across the NFL is just absolutely sickening. Rookie salaries should be regulated by the NFL. Pick #1 will get "X % over what last years 1st overall pick got, which was X.....which was set by the NFL" You get picked at spot Y....your making X per year. It doesn't matter if your a kicker, QB, WR, or long snapper. Thats what your making. All money paid to the rookie (signing bonus, roster bonus, workout bonus) all predetermined by the NFL. You can't afford to pay that? Trade down if you can...else your going to have to sit and let the picks slide by until you can afford to take the pick. Only thing teams will negotiate is the length of the contract.

Yes it will add another complexity to the draft, but you'll never be here....15 hours away from the start of (our) training camp, and over half the first round picks are unsigned. Just sad really...because all it is, is greed...the rookie, the agent, and the team. All to blame.

Actually, I think Thomas's deal is 6 years, but the last year can be voided (similar to how Wimbley's was).

I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

This morning on Channel 3, John Anderson said it was a 6 year deal for 42 million, something like 22 million gauranteed... Also the 6th year is voidable by Thomas.

Wrights deal was a 4 year deal but no other details were reported by Anderson.....
