I got to play the GT-S demo that came out for a few hours of this game, and I must say I'm really disappointed to be owning a Playstation 4 at this point. One of the big reasons I went with PS4 was that I've loved playing Gran Turismo on pretty much every version that has come out. I was also happy to get Battlefront packaged with my PS4 when I first got it ... That said, both are/were guilty of the same egregious sin. They've pretty much ignored Single Player Campaign mode and made it all about the Online experience. You get Drivers School, a couple of mission/challenges, some track segment training ... and that's it. Everything else is centered around driving on-line against other people. Which is fine if you're all for that, but when the original 6 games before all of this were based on having a driving career, earning credits, building up a better and better car garage and working towards bigger and bigger races ... this is a pretty big let down. Just joining the demo day one, I got a gift mid-level race car. After a few completed training missions, I got my next 750HP race car as well. Part of the appeal of the originals was starting with a clunker pedestrian sedan, grinding out credits and modifying it up to something useful. Then working your way towards actual race cars. I could maybe understand it if they released a "Online Play" version of the game between regular versions, that focused more on online play, but it has been 4 years since both the last release of GT6 and PS4 itself! This was supposed to be the Flagship game for Playstation. Now we'll probably have to wait another 3-4 years for a decent Single Player to come out, which will probably coincide with the release of PS5. In short ... this game is another Battlefront. Looks great, has great hype, but offers nothing if you're into single player. Save your money.

I already bought a copy. Just waiting for it to drop. I saw the E3 announcement and I’m a huge fan of Gran Turismo
Online is the current direction of gaming, and I’m sure there will be plenty of single player stuff to do like Forza.

I was never really into racing games. Too repetitive for me, but I guess most games are. IDK, just never really enjoyed it.
I will say the demo they had for the VR racing game was on crazy awesome. I enjoy online gaming, but its hard to do. Between my wife needing something on the top shelf and the little guy getting into something - more of a pain as its too hard to just stop playing something. So when I get a chance to play (rarely anymore) its usually solo. Unless its Destiny or COD.

Really enjoyed the series (Although, I never played the last PS3 game), and I'm really interested in this game. I'm hearing a lot of negative press about it though, and over the years. I've heard they've even taken out dynamic weather and daylight/nightime. What a joke. GT always stood out as a hyperrealistic game, but that would just set it back to a 2004 arcade racer.

Bro I played this game for a while last night, buyout to hope on again today.
Dunno what you’re talking about. This game is absolutely dope. So many mods, so many cars, so many tracks, a lot of different ways to go about the campaign mode.

The main criticism stems from everything is locked if you're offline. You can't progress with new cars, new skills, new paint, or similar things if you are offline. You must always be connected to the FT servers to make any sort of progress. It's a bit of a kick in the pants to people looking for an offline single player experience.

Right but they’ve been doing this for a while now.
A lot of games you can’t play without being connected.
Hell, you can buy the hard copy of a game and still can’t play unless the game is downloaded to the system.
So I get the frustration but for the actual gameplay itself it’s amazing.

I only got to play the demo, but what do you get as far as single player campaign? It didn't look like much other than a few dozen challenges and a couple of "get a fast time on this leg of the track" things. There was no real "career" to speak of. As far as cars and tracks too, it seemed like it was significantly smaller than GT6. What kind of mods can you do to your car? In previous games you could add all kinds of turbos, tires, weight reductions, etc. The only thing available in the demo was paintjobs and such. I mean, if you're looking for a great online experience, then yeah, it's probably a good game to have. If you're looking for a good career mode (like all the previous GT's), then it seemed like it was really lacking.

Campaign mode is definitely the simulator that we expected.
with the car settings, for example, it's so freaking detailed. you can set power and weight reduction ratios on each car, and it's customizable for road, dirt, or drift settings.
you can change the rear tires to be different from the fronts, as well as set how sensitive traction control is. you can also set the ride height and brake balance on your suspension.
and then you can go in and save those settings on different sheets ,that way once you find your prefered style of driving for that particular car, you can change it depending on the race you're in. you can change aerodynamic and drivetrain settings, as well as tune the gear ratio of your ride, even if you add parts to the car.
not only can you do all those things on the car, you can also customize your avatars helmet and race gear, as well.
when you're scrolling through the cars themselves, each section provides a full profile of the car company itself. i mean you're literally learning about the real life of the brand while selecting the car. so dope!
there are 24 racing school challenges you need for the best license, as well as completing mission challenges and circuit experience. you do all these things to level up your character and earn cash.
i havent unlocked the actual races yet cause i got so much crap i gotta do first. i'm only on 9/24 for the license, as well as i have 0% circuit experience. the driving school is so nuts and the cars act like real cars (obviously). make a bad correction and your car is up in the wall out of nowhere. there is also arcade mode if you just want to drive and race like normal.

So what you're saying is it's just like all the other versions available but better because it has VR?
This is the only game I play, haven't got the PS4 yet, but it's on my radar.

Me too! Thinking of getting the Pro as opposed to just the regular one.

Me too! Thinking of getting the Pro as opposed to just the regular one. I have a PS4 slim, from a few years ago. We recently signed up for Playstation Vue. I have a PS3, so it could be used as a 2nd player in the house, but I also want the freedom of playing my PS4 games in that room as well (first world problems, I know). Anyway, my question: Is it worth getting the Pro or just get another standard slim? If I bring my COD:WWII disc into my other system, will my online experience be the same? What about offline games? There should be a way the two systems share the same save file. Amazon had the all-white Destiny 2 Pro for $399 last week. Assuming I sell that on eBay for $60, $340 isn't that bad considering a slim is $299, even though you can get the slim with COD:WWII as a package for $299. Ugh.

Here's the thing, I'm also thinking of getting Assetto Corsa, THE most realistic driving simulator accessible on a console.
It's physics engine is so realistic they CAN'T genuinely make a VR game out of it because they need all the processing power to run the game.
When Polyphony Digital holds their GT Academy competition, those that make it far enough have the competitors work on AC as well.
I think you'd probably do just fine with another slim. Your online experience is most likely dependent on your internet speed. You could back up your files to a flash drive and transfer files that way (if there's not another way that is).

I'd wait on the VR! It's quite basic for Gran Turismo. There are some decent VR games out there, though.

yo excl and Ted check it out: first, please excuse the messy set up. anyway, so sport racing is the online racing. and it's so crazy. so there's a full 24 car race, and that's all real people. they have different race events going on, as well as the main event racing that starts every night at 9. and boy do people that this stuff seriously. so when you sign up for a race, it's important to make sure you have enough time to do a qualifying trial before the event starts. then when the event starts, everyone gets to warm up the cars on the track, getting good lap times and the feel, etc. so when the race starts, obviously you'll start where you qualified at based on best time. but the racing itself is so detailed. you really have to handle the cars, and running into walls or bumping cars, or getting off track, the game treats it like real life and you get time deducted off your overall time. so at the end of the race, you could finish 2nd, but once all the time penalties are added up, you can drop to 5th or lower. for example, using my screen capture, i qualified 4th. i ended up 3rd, but then dropped to 6th because of all the things i did listed above. clean racing is an absolute must, and that takes a lot of time not only getting use to the car, but the track itself as well as learning how to drive with real people on the track with you. clean racing is also how you're able to get a higher license based on skill, and the higher the skill, the more exclusive race events you are eligible to enter. i follow a lot of the F1 drivers in europe and some of them are posting crazy lap times on the game on instagram, so guys are really trying to get on that video game level of real racers. i already got dudes in game that we practice on different tracks and such trying to decrease lap times.

That is a pretty cool set up, regardless of all that spaghetti stringing around! You should see the sorry job I did on hanging my own tv and sound bar! Don't know when I can get the PS4, but tell me, does the game have the 2017 Ford GT? Have to find a way to drive that thing until I can afford a real one! Question, do you find the xBox Live feature a pain in the ass compared to the PS? My son has an xBox one and (being he's special needs) he finds it kinda tough to navigate. It just seems to me that there should be an easier way to sign up and all that.

sorry, been so knee deep in the game i could've responded to this but i thought the other guys would.
i haven't seen the GT yet, although i know there are gonna be updates later with them adding more cars to the list.
i have both the xbox and ps4, and my daughters actually play on both too. they said they like the PS4 better because it's easier for them to figure out where everything is at and such. i tend to agree, so if you're thinking about your kid playing, the PS4 has a way friendlier interface he can easily maneuver around. my opinion of course.

Not the Magic Mountain kind, the real ones with 100cc 2 cycle motorcycle engines sitting right next to you. Honest to goodness Indy drivers will do Kart racing before the start of the season to get sharp again. We did a two day event there one summer. It was pretty cool. Wonder how much it costs to drive a car like that?
