Trump still hasn't made clear whether he'll allow the full release of the documents or block certain files from publication, which he can do if he believes making them public could pose harm to US intelligence, law enforcement, the military or US foreign relations.

Hoping he releases them all. thumbsup

I wonder, does "harm" include embarrassment? blush

Crap.

President Trump says he can't release all the documents because of National Security reasons.

They will be sent for review for the next 6 months.

Everything else will be released today. That is 2800 records.

Yep.

'BREAKING NEWS: Trump orders NEW JFK cover-up as he puts off releasing some assassination files for six months so spies can black out portions'

White House will allow CIA and FBI to black out portions of some JFK assassination documents for six months while they justify the edits.

The truth is out there, it just will be blacked out. brownie

I don't know why he won't let us know that Oswald was given the gun by Canada, practiced at the Vatican, and was driven to the scene by Obama's Grandma.

Its old news after all.

The only they are trying to cover was how they completely botched the entire security detail, completely botched the investigation, and completely botched everything they touched ever since.

“National security concerns” means the government was involved and they don’t want anybody to have hard evidence on it.

That, or the files just showed how completely incompetent they were and how horrible of a job they did investigating it. Either way, there is not good reason to keep these files or redact them 50+ years after the fact, of course unless Ted Cruz begged Trump not to out his daddy smile

Redacting the reports could also be for the purpose of protecting foreign sources of information during the investigation following the assassination. While these intelligence assets may no longer be active, they could still be alive, and outing them might endanger them or their families.

If Oswald was CIA agent, he was the sloppiest one they ever had. An agent would have had an escape route planned out. They don't get caught walking down the street and shoot dead a Dallas police officer in the process.

It's ridiculous.

Not only could it endanger them as individuals, it could strain our relationship with those countries. And we all know that Trump is all about building solid respectful relationships with our allies.

I drove over to the White House and told Trump I was not happy and was looking forward to reading those Documents.

He straightened my MAGA hat and gave me his copies to borrow.

I just started reading them and was astonished to find Lee Harvey Oswald's wife was having an affair with Kennedy's limo driver and that is who Oswald was looking to take out!

Turns out he was a terrible shot!

While I don't doubt there are people who believe he was a CIA agent, I've never heard it, and I've delved into the whole JFK thing somewhat diligently.

The common belief is that he was duped into being a patsy.

I think if there is a lesson to be learned from the incident, it is that when the US government doesn't like what happened, they will re visit with different versions of the truth, endlessly, until no one can know for sure.

Whether it is the Titanic, or JFK, or other things, I think they do this.

From watching the Sunday talk shows I am beginning to understand why the delay in the release requested by the Intel agencies.

We certainly wouldn't want to release the names of anyone involved who is still alive.
We have to be cautious of releasing any names of people, those involved or those who gave information, who may have family in countries like Cuba where their families may come under trouble. Some of these countries are not known for being kind to anyone who ever gives info to the Americans or to their families.

By who?

I think that may be correct but then again, he still may have been one of the shooters.

A Google search of "Lee Harvey Oswald was a CIA agent" came back with about 362,000 results.

Fair enough. As I said, I'm sure they're out there.

How many use the term "agent" to be "tool", I wonder? (i.e. I've met many Cubans who were "agents" of the CIA during the Bay of Pigs. They didn't have badges, they were useful tools or patsys.

Oswald was believed to be a communist early on by intelligence agencies. While that certainly wouldn't preclude him from being a useful tool, I can't see him being let into the ranks of intelligence communities as a colleague.

Just for the record what I posted doesn't say Oswald was a CIA agent.

It says in part:

In regard to the allegation that Lee Harvey Oswald was an FBI informant, Pena saw Oswald at a restaurant on Decatur and Iberville Streets in New Orleans in the company of “other federal agents from the Customs House Building."

It also states:

Pena believes that Oswald was an agent of the U.S. government.

I'm thinking perhaps an informant of some kind.

Or a horrible job of security in Dallas particularly the lack of SS security around Dealey Plaza. They are covering for local and federal agencies on security procedures IMO. The feds would rather have the American public think about conspiracy theories and such for the next 200 years, then sharing the truth with the world.

He did slip away from the crime scene easily enough. The poor cop was pretty lucky or umm unlucky to spot him. But yeah I don't think he was an official CIA agent. Maybe the CIA used him as a "patsy", which was his exact word used. But I believe Oswald acted alone and was a communist spy wanabe that nobody took seriously. And he was hell bent to prove he was.

IMO The only reason this report had gotten into the investigation documents would have been for investigators to look to blame the assassination on pro King's supporters. Not that they shouldn't be looking at all possibilities.
