Kyle Shanahan probably hated Mike Pettine so much.

Between him and Farmer, it's amazing that he didn't off himself. Maybe his 95 slide slideshow was so long because he was working on it after the second week of training camp?

Kinda amazing how much better you are at calling plays when you have some talent to work with.

It's Pederson.

It was a rhetorical question that was meant to address all of the geniuses that say that a HC can't call his own plays and needs an OC.

Hue was by far more highly regarded than Pederson before they became HC's of their current teams. That is undeniable!

Get Hue some talent and watch how much his "play calling" improves.

No, Shanny said he liked Pet. His beef was w/Farmer and other members of the FO who were interfering w/his job responsibilities.

I know you don't aren't saying I said this, but I've said all along that Hue Jackson being his own offensive coordinator is a non-issue.

I just meant that Kyle Shanahan was obviously much smarter (and probably a better coach than Pettine), yet Pettine was in charge.

I really can't remember Shanny's history here all that well, but I do remember his passing attack becoming one dimensional once JG came back, and it was very PA fake heavy.

I also remember this:

I remember seeing the most innovative route tree I had ever seen. I didn't like the hire, but the guy won me over because I recognized his genius.

Of course, many of the same suspects who are clueless today didn't like Shanny and bad-mouthed me for liking him. Who can forget all of ThatGuy's jokes about "route trees."

Nice call, Guy.

I thought he was a genius until Hoyer got injured, then I thought he was just a dude too smart for his own good. I was one of those dudes who got into verbal fisticuffs with you over Shanny Jr. and that regime in general.

We all have our opinions. How well did Shanny do in Atlanta? How well is his replacement doing w/the same talent? How well is Shanny doing in SF w/less talent?

Want help?

Coaching can help. Evidence in Shanny got more out of Atlanta's talent than his Sark.

However, you still need talent.....as evidenced that Shanny isn't doing as well in SF as he did in Atlanta.

Same can be said of Hue. He was a genius in Cinci. Now, he is a dumb ass.

Yeah, I think he's a better coach now. I think he learned a lot from the Browns and even the Falcons. I only thought he was only too smart was when he had JFF and JG together. Probably just the tools he had to work with.

I think Sark's a moron for completely changing up the playbook from Shanny in Atlanta. I mean, Alex Mack is being completely underutilized. He's the best center in the league and could handle Shanny's line assignments.

I really enjoyed watching him play last night ... Damm ... i said 3 or 4 weeks ago he has a shot to be special .. well last night he was VERY VERY SPECIAL .... it was just one game and i don’t want to blow things out of proportion but holy crap batman ....

That was fun ...

I said I was going to enjoy watching him and the other kid QB’s DEVELOP ... now we just may be watching this kid QB EVOLVE ...

Can ANYONE remember a QB that has progressed THIS FAR, THIS FAST? ...

And it shows just how HARD IT IS to evaluate QB’s ... the draft “gurus” were pretty much split on him ...

This is not a bash on our FO/Hue for passing on him ... this is just my pure joy from watching a QB play a great game ...

His ACCURACY is off the charts ..

That TD pass he threw was one of the best passes i’ve Ever seen ...

The pocket was very congested .. he was moving around .. got hit about a tenth of a second after the ball left his hand .. he threw from a very wierd platform ... and he “tear” dropped it over a defender with the sideline acting as a 2nd defender ...

SOB was that a thing of buety ...

If u haven’t seen it ... its well worth the time to go google it .. WELL WORTH IT ..

And hes a GREAT KID to boot ..

My joy got the best of me ...

U don’t want to watch this unless your ready to watch it to see a great play by a qb and not someone we passed on ..

I forgot about the mood around here ... and i understand ... COMPLETELY ..

U have to watch it from an enjoyment perspective or its just going to pee u off and your going to be more upset ...

Just being honest ...

Yea, U cant look at him and think "what if" anymore cause if u do, it makes you want to smash something smile Kid has it and has HAD it. Evaluations can be tough but some guys just seem to show it early on. Clay Matthews III was another guy I saw show that "It" early on during the draft process yet many scouts knocked him for only having ten starts, "surrounded by talent" and just runs around like his hair is on fire.. Some teams seem to see it, others take people like Robiskie, Massaquoi and Veikune. But hey.. we had a kid from Hawaii that could kill a pig with his bare hands smile

Game is a fog...sorry but I was in and out woke up and it was Eagles in control at the end of the game.

Wentz...I don't complain much on our decisions. I roll along and say hey, they have their reasons we will be all good.

But passing up on Wentz is one that just hurts. Early on I just saw him and knew he was THE ONE! Didn't care where he played and who his competition was...you could just SEE IT. Accuracy first and foremost. Can make any throw, strong arm but touch when needed. Excellent feet, excellent athlete.

I think if I was a Multi Billionaire who would buy the team...I come in and ask. OK what's up with that Wentz decision.
Who, What, Where and why??? Whoever was THE GUY who made the decision. I would simply say...Good Bye, take a hike buddy.

At least that was my drug infused dream as I nodded off during the game.

I did want Wentz if we had stayed at 2. The trade down made sense, too. I think Dwayne Bowe was our top receiver on paper at that point. Pryor hadn't broken out yet. Wow our roster was/is a mess. I don't think Wentz would have been a top 20 QB with that roster (particularly at that point in time).

I think part of my being okay with passing on him was that despite the potential I saw I figured we'd find a way to break him.

I liked Doctson over Coleman, though. I was busy finishing a project last night so didn't catch the game. I read that J-Doc is finally healthy, I'll have to check him out on Gamepass when I finally find a chunk of time.

Wentz completed 17 of 25 passes for 268 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in Monday night's 34-24 win over the Redskins. He also rushed eight times for 63 yards. (Mon Oct 23)

We blew it bigly passing on Wentz.

If we had taken Wentz... and if he would've been able to survive through last year without too many long-term effects...

Can you imagine him (even half of what we're seeing now) behind this line and with our defense?

So would the Browns that's why they were smart enough to offer him a four year contract, and he was stupid enough to turn it down.

My son and I were talking about this earlier this evening. In Cleveland, he was by far our best WR and stud. In Washington, who isn't even loaded at WR, he is just another guy.

That tells you a lot about our roster.

Yet, the geniuses on this board will tell you that we have all kinds of talent and Hue is holding us back. LOL

I am not trying to rehash the Pryor contract, I am just saying that our current wide receivers are terrible.

If we keep Hue and our current FO, I wouldn't be surprised if we re-sign him in the offseason. I'm just not sure how many suitors he'll have out there and he does know Hue very well. Either way it'll be the biggest mea culpa in Browns' history until we get Jimmy G or Teddy Bridgewater.

I don't think Pryor was anything close to a stud here. He had a decent season.

I'm not surprised by what's happening in Washington. The guy was near 30 years old and made a position change. He had no track record at his current position to indicate the trend was going to continue upward. What's happening currently was always a possibility to happen.

My point had far more to do w/how crappy our WRs were/our than complimenting Pryor. That is why I put he is just another guy in Washington.

I agree our WRs are crappy. That's not even debatable.

But I think what's happening in Washington with Pryor could've happened if he stayed here as well. Teams have a whole year of tape on Pryor. I always say he only ran one route here, but I know that's not true. I am embellishing to make a point. It did not seem like he ran very many routes last year. He had trouble getting behind the defense and his thing is supposed to be speed. He seemed pretty one dimensional but the team force fed him the ball quite a bit.

Would he have helped here? Probably. Would the team still be 0-7? Probably. Are the FO geniuses or doofuses for offering him 4 years and letting him walk over 1 year? Eh, that's a weird one that makes them look both foolish and smart.

It was always a risky proposition to take that one year deal. Doesn't look like it will pay the dividends he (and his agent) hoped for.
