I think we probably offered two firsts for JG.

Oh we did, but now they will have more pressure to trade.

Not if he signs an extension.

Clearly NE wants him. JG probably wants to stay in NE. They'll get it done and I bet NE actually pays for their free agents this time with Jimmy.

Well if we did offer 2 first round draft picks for JG He obviously didn't want to come here, and New England agreed to take a 2nd round for him. JG has to be doing cartwheels right now knowing he never has to worry about being in Cleveland!

As would any other QB in the NFL. Pretty sure that's one of the main reasons we are where we are.

Obviously there were other teams in the NFL that thought it was more important to try and make a deal for JG than it was to get out of the office @ 5:00 pm lmao we are truly pathetic

Again, I was way off. Two first rounders, way off there too. Browns should hire me right now, I can continue to keep the track record of being wrong going! Call me, Jimmy!

The sad part is this is all true stuff, The funny part is this is all to comical to be made up, No wonder we are the laughing stock of the NFL. Im guessing when we got our (Team) back NFL Executives must have been sitting back saying this will all end up on Americas funniest videos someday SMH

Brock Osweiler - QB - Broncos

Coach Vance Joseph announced Brock Osweiler will be the Broncos' starting quarterback Week 9 against the Eagles.

It's a move that had to be made after Trevor Siemian once again stunk up the joint on national television Monday night in Kansas City. Siemian has thrown eight picks to just three touchdowns the past five weeks, and the Broncos have lost 4-of-5 heading into Philly. Osweiler isn't any better, but Joseph ran the risk of losing the team if he didn't shake it up. The Eagles' defense is arguably the top team defense play of the week, especially if CB Ronald Darby (ankle) is back.

Denver's offensive line going to bring out the INTs in Brock... especially against the Eagles defense. Ouch. Major ouch. Good luck Brock.

Brock will actually do fine. They'll run heavy and he has the arm to stretch the defense for the running game.

If he were playing for us we would have already had a couple of wins at least.

Brian Hoyer - QB - Patriots

Patriots signed QB Brian Hoyer, formerly of the 49ers, to a three-year contract.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Hoyer was also being courted by the Packers. He instead chooses to go back to New England where it all began as an UDFA out of Michigan State. Hoyer will slide in as Tom Brady's backup, replacing Jimmy Garoppolo, who was traded to the Niners on Monday.

New from Albert Breer - USC QB Sam Darnold is "going to take everything into account and that includes who's at the top of the draft"

https://twitter.com/KeithBritton86/status/925824446581104640

I'm not sure how much I believe Breer, however.

Reports came out months ago (July 5th), originally via NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, that Darnold is strongly considering returning to school, and that:

"I also had several sources close to Darnold tell me they wouldn't be surprised if Darnold played two more seasons at USC. As a redshirt sophomore, he can declare for the draft as early as 2018."

Baker Mayfield? 72% Completion percentage...looks like a gamer.

Will Grier? 63% Completion percentage...leading NCAAF in passing TD's 28

I've been saying since last off-season that USC people who know things think Sam Darnold will be at USC in 2018. It has nothing to do with the Browns, he was always going back to school.

Former Redskins GM, Scott McCloughan, said he would build a team around Mayfield over Darnold, Rosen and Allen.

He compared Mayfield to a smaller Brett Favre.

When asked if he had to pick one quarterback in 2018 to build around, he said without hesitation, "Baker Mayfield.(Really?) Yep. Yep." Interviewer mentioned Mayfield has been up and down, asking what McCloughan specifically likes, "He reminds me of a shorter version of Brett Favre. Tough guy. (He have that kind of arm?) Oh yeah. He can throw it. He's very confident. He's not afraid what-so-ever. He's a battler. I know Brett Favre is a big name, I've been around him a while, but this guy's got talent. Every guy you mentioned has talent. I've already said, I think three guys go in the top 10 and five go in the first round."

McCloughhan is another guy we should be looking at to run the front office. Crazy that he and John Dorsey are out there.

He's the guy who admitted to having an alcohol problem.

Browns probably not a good spot for his or any one else's sobriety.

Not entirely sure how much faith the Browns can put in him. Talented evaluator, but his issues with alcoholism are probably the last thing the Browns need.

Beside, he doesn't like Cousins (Recently said on Twitter he would take a pass rusher instead of offering a first for Cousins) and he said this of Jimmy Garappolo heading to the 49ers,

“He has a chance to be like (Matt) Hasselbeck – a long career, has success, goes to the playoffs,” he said. “He’ll never embarrass the organization. He’ll show up every day and do the right stuff every day.”

So the fans would already be really unhappy with him for his moves. thumbsup

On a serious note, he could always be a possibility.

As for Dorsey, the stories regarding his dysfunction and disorganization of the Chiefs, and the rogue approach from Dorsey to everything is something we're currently upset could be a possibility here.

People like Dorsey and McCloughan seem like the kind of people you love until they're on your staff: and I'm not sure their talent overrules their issues, as their previous teams felt.

Washington dragged him through the mud after they fired him. I'm not sure how much of a problem the alcohol currently is.

The first front office mistake would start the questions here though. Not a good fit.

I was asking a question and not passing judgement.

Now, I will judge.

The worst possible place in the world for that poor soul to end up is w/the Browns. Freaking Hue Jackson is a well respected coach by almost everyone in the NFL, but Brown's fans rip him daily.

If things did not go right quickly, that poor sap would have to endure brutal attacks by all the internet savvy football experts that populate this board and radio talk shows.

Fans of every team rip everyone on every team. Patriots fans wanted Tom Brady to be benched after a bad game a couple of years ago. The Browns fans/media are no more intense than any other team, it just seems bad because we are in it.

Two things:

1: Your are not educating me. I know fans of other teams trash their teams at times.

2. You ignored the point that the Browns suck eggs and that will certainly draw more criticism than successful teams. Hue is a solid guy and a very good coach, yet guys like you rip him all the time. Can you imagine the reaction of fans like you guys if the team was failing under the direction of a guy who has been accused of alcoholism.

Look, I hope the dude gets another chance. However, if I were him, no way in hell would I come here.

McCloughan has admitted to alcoholism, and got treatment.
