i think lamar jackson is a way better passer than RG3.

i think he's more like Deshaun Watson, or ever better: a better version of Michael Vick.

I think our fans are being played for absolute fools.

1. 48 hours ago, Ian Rapoport reports that the Browns won't be firing Hue Jackson, both now and at the end of the season. Specifically, Ian said, "Changes are expected to come at the end of the season in some form or fashion. But at this point, they are not expected to involve Hue Jackson."

Does that really sound like a situation that makes a coach desperate enough to force a trade?

2. A.J McCarron is off contract at the end of the year. He'll be a free agent and won't re-sign with the Bengals. Cleveland will undoubtedly be one of his preferred destinations: Reunite with Hue Jackson, good chance at being a starter, a lot of cap room for reasonable compensation.

Why would the 0-8 Browns give up such incredible draft value for a guy who can't save the season anyway and will not cost any draft picks next year?

3. This front office would never agree to give up a 2nd and 3rd. They hardly agreed to a 3rd for Collins. They would only part with a "2nd & change" for Jimmy Garappolo, per Ian Rapoport. Our team hates giving up picks, and has traded away from both Wentz and Watson to gain picks. This isn't a team that throws around draft selections of that value for a back-up quarterback who hasn't thrived when given the chance - heck, they wouldn't even do it for Jimmy G.

4. The Browns just became one of the leading teams for Kirk Cousins. The Browns can now offer him more money than any other team, including Washington, which is a huge first step. It isn't crazy. We've got the most money, a rock solid offensive line (That will be important looking at Luck, Wilson, etc) and a plethora of draft selections to build around him: Including likely the #1 pick that would almost certainly land an elite running back prospect. On top of that, our defense is rising quickly.

5. We're locked step for step for the #1 pick with San Francisco, and they don't need a QB. Nobody is giving up that high of value for selections for McCarron when we've got a shot at Cousins, already have Kizer and could very possibly be sitting on Darnold.

I don't doubt the Browns tried to trade for McCarron. I do, however, doubt that we tried to sell our entire future for him by giving up two of our most valuable draft assets.

Sounds much closer to a vested interest in seeing the fans and local media ramp up pressure on Haslam to fire everyone following reports the Browns were, for once, actually considering continuity.

Cousins seems like our ONLY means for a legit option at QB, even if we pay way more than his production/worth amounts.

We'll probably forget to call his agent though.

And if we happen to win more than the 49ers it means they will trade the first overall pick to someone ELSE smile

BDU...so you believe the Bengals are lying about the trade they thought was a done deal..

..a rock solid offensive line?

A second and a third does not equal "we tried to sell our entire future"

I believe our front office screwed up, not making an attempt land Garappolo and going home at 5pm at a critical moment, with the Browns in need of wr help as well as QB help.

Then with the uproar that created, our front office leader panicked, feeling the heat, then failed to notify the NFL as required by the rules. Chances are, Sashi and whom ever was working with him do not know the rules.

There is no substitute for experience!

The Browns are what they are...

I think Jackson and Sashi are for sure and I doubt that the next man up on each side is going to be enthused to keep anyone on staff.

We are about to go nuclear again.

Agreed. At some point this has just been an epic failure of everyone involved. Haslem is reportedly furious that Hue is using back channel media contacts (Silver and Albright) to leak his issues with the ORG, and Sashi and the FO just seems clueless on how to operate.

I can envision a scenario where Sashi is able to save his job, but yields significant authority to a traditional FO personnel guy. I see no way Hue survives this if the word about Haslem being irate as is being reported is true.

I hate it, but unfortunately would be more shocked at this point if change doesn't come than if it does.

If Hue was doing that, I'd fire him in the morning. He is trying to save his reputation at this point. A head coach who is 1-23 has to try to salvage something.

This doesn't seem as bad. Still bad, just not as bad.

For real though, how pissed would we all be if we gave up two and a three for McCarron when the 49ers got Garoppolo for a two.

Incompetence saved us. Our next front office and coaching staff are already indebted to Sashi Brown and company.

The front office comments via the media including their back channels, always putting a positive spin on their efforts while Hue is not supposed to say a word...

It is my understanding that many on the coaching staff were pissed at Sashi's effort..not just Hue.

The man responsible for this mess is Jimmy Haslam.

Sashi Brown needs to go, period. Trading that much for McCarron was foolish, then screwing it up was incredibly stupid.

Hue Jackson is not the problem with this team. We have a group of proven veteran coaches. Some considered some of the best in the business. The front office is killing this fanbase with idiotic moves.

Not trying to land a receiver before the deadline is a major mistake. Not keeping a vet like Osweiler or McCown was a mistake. Signing Kenny Britt was a mistake. Drafting four nobodies at WR was a mistake. Cutting Haden was a colossal mistake.

And this battered fanbase wants to fire a coach who has nothing to work with as far as playmakers.

HUE JACKSON IS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!!!!

Do I believe the Bengals leaked exaggerated details of an incomplete trade to the media to create horribly negative PR for the Browns?

Uhm, yeah man, I really do.

Just a coincidence that our fan base is now calling for the firing of our head coach... I wonder who wanted him as their head coach and is now months away from firing the head coach whom they wanted Jackson so succeed...

It just doesn't make any sense. The cost, the timing, the player. None of it. It's completely illogical.

A 2nd and 3rd is the entire future. You don't surrender that kind of value for a guy you plan on keeping for only 8 weeks before aggressively targeting other options. You make that deal, you're building around him.

Mary Kay reporting the Bengals screwed up the paperwork, not the Browns. I'd rather have the 2 and 3 than McCarron. Wish we would have offered that for Garoppolo.

I believe, and will believe it if it is proven, that if Hue is going behind the scenes to reporters, as some claim, to hurt the Browns, he should be fired in the morning. No questions asked.

In house, say what you want. Go outside, you're done in the harshest of ways.

Let the finger pointing begin. The Browns are in damage control mode.

On a side, their own incompetence saved them from making a bad, panicked move.

On a day that the Browns didn't make a single trade, they are one of the lead stories around the NFL for all the wrong reasons. Take a bow Cleveland Browns.

Perhaps Im way off base, but in one of the articles it almost seemed as we would be swapping draft spots with Cincy in rounds 2 and 3...If we really offered selections in both round 2 and 3...What a mess anymore, and this organization is a shame to anyone...specially us fans.
