Things have not always been well between the United States and Canada.

In 1920, war between the two countries was a definite possibility.

Both countries were still skittish about where the world stood after the bloody World War I.

In 1974, classified documents were released about the tensions between the two countries.

The U.S attack plan on Canada was called “War Plan Red”

At one point the Canadians had a “First Strike” plan against the U.S.

The Canadian plan was known as “Defense Scheme No. 1”.

It involved sending troops into the U.S. to seize the cities of Albany, Minneapolis and Seattle in an attempt to cripple the U.S.

Albany, Minneapolis & Seattle?

We of course would have retaliated by sending in the Rhode Island all volunteer Fire Department Marching Band to capture the capital Montreal.

So they had an offense and a defense scheme? I'm confused. Who would name their "First Strike" plan.. "Defense Scheme No. 1"?

Is it a first strike plan or a defense plan?

As for Albany, Minneapolis, and Seattle.. I thought they were already part of Canada.

I think the Canadian feeling was: "The best defense is a good offense."

But if you've got the time (and desire) google it.

Aren't all first strike plans inherently defensive?

No worries, eh? The schemes are put together by the founders of early analytics. This is where they came from, and relatives, descendants of these strategists, are part of our front office, steering the boat towards assured eventual success. The Plan is firmly in place.

I was puzzled to learn that they did not plan to take Cleveland in the first wave. Imagine an error in execution that large. Defies the imagination. I am incredulous, or pretty much so.

Remember this was ~1920.

Japan, Mexico and England were in on it too.

And Parma, too? Canadian blitzkrieg that is.

We could all have grown up speaking Tim Horton, for God's sake! Dodged a bullet there we did! Personally, I would gladly have conceded all of Pennsylvania to them. That would serve Steelhack right! (Just kidding,'Hack!)

Count your blessings, me buckos!

I read all this way, and no mention of, was it the MacKenzie Bros.?, and "Strange Brew."

Hosers in the FO, eh?
