I hope, hope, hope that he has had access to a playbook and has been studying. If not, I hope that he has one now and that one of the offensive assistants has become attached to his hip to start drilling things into him.
That was one of his problems last time, when Hoyer became fixated on him. Threw off the team-wide chemistry. He didn't know his routes, blocking assignments. We were worse with him than without him.
Looking forward to seeing if he's better prepared this time.

Ya but he was in training camp last year so he should get up to speed quickly.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
I've beat JG on this board.....we do need him AND I pray he beats his addiction.....for the Browns, but more for him, he needs to provide for his children and himself...NFL...NOT FOR LONG.....Go Browns!!!!

Josh Gordan is trash!!! He has proven over and over again he cares about no one but himself! He does not care about football, his teammates, the Browns etc... I would not waste the the toilet paper in the locker room on any trash that smokes pot!!!

If Weeden and Jason Campbell can throw to him, gosh I'd hope any NFL qb could get the ball into his hands.
We could get him the ball, we can thrown him a series of 8 yard outs where he has no choice but to step out of bounds after catching it.. you know, make the most of his YAC capabilities.
That was awesome, I remember watching that and being geeked. We of course lost that game as Browns usually do, but that was sick.
I forgot how did we lose that game up 19-3 late in the 3rd?
Pats onside kick when we decided not to line anyone up in a 20yd slot in front of the kicker. There's a good Youtube video but it's laced with profanities.

I bet you're wondering the samething I did, why O' why didn't I take the...blue pill
forgot about that patriots loss ... another one that we miraculously blew
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

That's pretty harsh, sounds like you will be pretty conflicted if/when Josh Gordon starts scoring touchdowns for us which leads to wins. I don't know if you will just turn your back to the tv, or what. Not sure you're allowed to make a comment like that, and revel in a Browns win that results from JG' play on the field.
Pretty harsh man, I hope none of your friends/family end up with a drug problem.

I believe in 2nd chances but he has had more than enough chances. He will not help this team win. He will play a game or two then dope it up again.
Don't worry about my family they will not end up on drugs. They are raised better then that. Drugs are not sickness. It is a weakness and choice.

The impossible pursuit of perfection and why the Browns could take another shot on Josh Gordon
By Dan Labbe, cleveland.com dlabbe@cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Perfection in the NFL, like in life, is impossible. So, yes, Browns head coach Hue Jackson was sending a subtle message about the state of his roster last Sunday.
"I think everything has got to be perfect for us to have a chance to win a football game," Jackson said after his team lost to the Vikings to fall to 0-8. "That's just where we are as a football team. We get it, and our coaching staff gets it and our players get it, and we work that way. We try to do the best we can to get everything right, but we all know that's not how football is played."
It's not that the Browns don't have talent. This is the NFL, after all. Every team has talent. Every team has players who can have an impact on a given play if the things around them work correctly. It's why there has been improvement in the defense this season, where the level of talent is better.
Why, though, are the Browns winless? Why have they consistently broken down defensively despite their improvement? Why does Jackson feel like his team has to play perfectly?
The answer lies in something Myles Garrett said on Tuesday when he was asked about Jackson's comments.
"I feel like if things aren't going perfect," Garrett said, "I can come around the edge and fix things."
Watch Garrett on the field and he just looks different. Every player in the NFL is an elite athlete. Even the players on the bottom of a winless roster are some of the best football players in the world. They all can do things that most of us could only imagine.
Some guys, though, like Garrett, they look different; they run different; they're built different; they bend different. Everything they do is smoother, more efficient. They make things that aren't easy look easy. They can do things to wreck a game without much help.
Middle linebacker Joe Schobert said a few weeks ago when asked about Garrett and linebacker Jamie Collins returning from injury, "Just individually, I think they are always good for a few freak plays like out of nowhere."
Schobert has emerged this season as a piece, a good player who can do his job and do it well and can make a play in a given moment when the things around him work -- like his interception off a tipped pass against the Vikings. A defense needs players like Schobert.
It's the difference-makers like Garrett -- guys who can "fix things" -- that can decide who wins and loses, though. They make perfection less necessary.
"You can't be perfect," Jackson said. "It's still a game. You're going to make mistakes and things are going to come up."
Having a talent like Garrett -- a player who has the ability to make a game-changing play on his own on any given snap, especially when things aren't perfect -- that's what teams are seeking. They want more freaks like Garrett.
Which brings us to Josh Gordon.
Gordon has been the Browns' great hope before. Back in 2014, the last time he played a real NFL game, the Browns were 6-4 and heading to Atlanta. Gordon was coming back from a 10-game suspension and was going to be the addition that would carry the Browns to the postseason. He caught eight passes that day for 120 yards and the Browns stole a road win. The playoffs were starting to feel real.
It all collapsed, though, and Gordon was as much a part of that collapse as anyone. Over his final three games, he caught nine passes for 108 yards. His routes weren't sharp. He gator-armed a pass on the sideline against the Colts, when the playoffs were still a faint hope, that would have set the Browns up for a potential game-winning field goal. He ended the season suspended by the team for missing a walkthrough after a night of partying.
Gordon got another shot in 2016, but right as he was about to come back from a four-game suspension to start that season, he checked into rehab. In sum, three regimes, including the current one, have hoped to benefit from the supremely talented receiver but haven't had the chance.
Still, even when he didn't always appear to be in shape or if he was shaking off the rust, Gordon always looked different on the field. A little bigger. A little faster. He covered more ground with less effort than any other receiver on the practice field, his strides more fluid. His hands devoured the football when it came his way. He made things that aren't easy look easy.
Gordon could be a fixer. Or, at least, he used to be. Just go back and watch that Patriots game in 2013 -- the Fozzy Whittaker game. Could he be again? If he's finally fixed the things that have kept him away from the game that he looks born to play, maybe.
It's a game he hasn't played since 2013, at least at full NFL speed, so maybe it's simply unrealistic, but it's why Gordon keeps getting shots. It's why everyone hopes this time is different. It's why the Browns have a decision to make instead of just outright releasing him.
Gordon, of course, needed some fixing of his own and still does. A lot of fixing. Maybe he's found it. Maybe the structure of football will help. Maybe the lifestyle of the NFL will be too much.
The Browns have won without Gordon and lost with him. They're far from complete whether he wears their uniform again or not. He's far from recovered. We've talked ourselves into Gordon before. Elite athletes have failed at this level before for lack of work ethic or the inability to overcome their demons.
If the Browns decide to continue down this road, though, they have little to lose. They have failed to give themselves options to move on from Gordon. They aren't in a playoff chase. This regime might very well be on the outs, either way, but if Gordon can come in and spark the offense and maybe save some jobs, they can't really say, "No, thanks."
If it ends the way it has always ended, it doesn't really change anything. They can move on with ease. If this time really is different, then both sides might just help fix each other.
Don't worry about my family they will not end up on drugs. They are raised better then that.
There are treatment centers full of people who's family members felt that way. A lot of other people didn't have the opportunity to "be raised better than that".

That is just wrong. I have my issues with healthcare in general, but when the AMA, DSM-V, ICDM-10, WHO, Democrats and Republicans alike and people from all cultures, all parts of the world and all socioeconomic classes say otherwise....it might be time to dig your head out of the sand.

i see no reason to keep Gordon away ... it's not like we have anything going for us or worth risking anyways.
I could see if we were 4-4 with a young roster/upside/etc ... but we suck so bad
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Yeah people who are raised well never end up on drugs. That's why the heroin epidemic is sweeping the suburbs. You know nothing of which you speak.
Evidently, they were not raised well. Just because someone is raised in the burbs, slums, up town, down town, in the country, wherever drugs and other bad choices can be made. Bad choice does not discriminate.
No one in my family has ever taken drugs. Ever. Mom/Dad, Sister, wife, daughters, etc... Why? It is how we are raised and who lives inside us.
I know what I speak of. Drug abuse is a sign of weakness in a person. Strong people will not ever partake.
Don't worry about my family they will not end up on drugs. They are raised better then that.

Weakness!!! Plain and simple!!! Why have someone like Gordon and his weakness infect the other young players.

Given the treatment, support, and opportunities Gordon has had, I can agree to a point. But to say addiction is a weakness that strong people don't succumb to is narrow minded and just plain false.

Hue would have to find some plays that are vertical and use the middle. Anything to get off the 2 YPerTouch Crowell is getting and that in avg passing per attempt. Sit Britt.

I hope he can be the player he was. *That* JG is worth more than any draft pick.
Next year, Coleman and Gordon together immediately gives us a decent receiving corps. Devalve, Njoku, Treggs, Williams, Higgins - it suddenly looks a lot rosier.
I caveat this with - I'm an optimist by nature - you can't live life without being one is my view. Life can be tough enough. Enjoy the highs, savour them, hope for them.
Don't worry about my family they will not end up on drugs. They are raised better then that.

Man you need to relax. I’ve got some good legal herb I can share with you. Help lower that blood pressure. Let me guess, you just have a beer when you want to unwind.
Your words fall short of compassion, every human is subject to addiction. For you to say, " I was raised better", falls short of compassion, see Buddhism.
Just because that was the life you did not live, does not mean you can't step outside of your shoes. I know the comeback is, fool me 5 times with JG, and that is totally understandable, I get it.
Sometimes we need to take a leap of of faith with humanity. This is obviously Cleveland Browns centered, but I consider this JG case study, as a symbiotic relationship of life and the Cleveland Browns.

Let me see here the Browns have went 3-13, 1-15, and currently 0-8 while Josh lived it up. He is now running out of money and wants to clean up. Start paying him and see what happens. It is like all criminals find Jesus in prison when they are up for parole. Let them out and they become criminals again. I have seen enough of Gordon.

It's that point of view right there that insures if any of your family members did dabble in drugs you'd be the very last one to know about it. Who would come to you for advice/help with that kind of problem knowing that you'll only brow beat them to the floor using their "weakness" as your club?
You might want to be a little less cocky regarding your claim that your family has a no drug history dating back to the Mayflower and that makes you an expert. What that really shows is that you have zero experience with drugs or the people who develop a problem with them. It's use by a family member can be staring you right in the face and under your nose but you won't even see it/recognize it until it's too late. And they damn sure won't be coming to you for help. Who could, knowing you hold THAT attitude about it?
Your claim that having raised your family right guarantees drugs have never and will never become an issue with any of your family members sounds a lot like you're claiming none of them, starting with you, has ever make a mistake of any kind because of the perfect upbringing. No lies, no bad decisions, nothing.

Say what you want. Taking drugs of any kind is a choice. If you choose to be an idiot how can I help. All I can say is going back a few generations no one in my family has anything to do with drugs. It is not hard to not have anything to do with drugs. Choose your friends wisely. If one of them mess around with drugs don't have anything to do with them. Just like the Browns and Josh Gordon. Don't let the problem thru the door.
