J/C ..... I just find it almost impossible to believe that Belichick would turn down a better deal, or even the possibility of a better deal. If nothing else, he could have used us for a better deal from the Niners.
Something just doesn't smell right about that premise.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Something just doesn't smell right about that premise. Why, he wanted a ready back-up in Hoyer. A extra pick next year does nothing for him this year. He didn't want to trade for Hoyer and keep the contract. He also didn't want JG in the AFC. Why is that hard to believe? Some teams are playing for THIS year. They aren't worried about a extra 3rd rounder next year.

The Patriots never brought the Browns into the talks, even though the Browns had been calling constantly about Garoppolo for a long time.
The Browns couldn't figure it out, because they have made two previous trades with New England. The Browns had multiple picks to offer and were willing to do it. They believed they could have easily offered more than the 49ers.
Regardless, the Browns were stunned when they heard the news. I wonder, did the Browns ever think about talking to Garappolo's agent to see if he wanted to play for the Browns?
Looks like Jimmy and Dee, Sashi, Depodesta and Berry...looks like they just "assumed" Garoppolo would love being in Cleveland...that he would be honored to be a Cleveland Brown. This front office is so naive, believing they are respected around the NFL due to their rebuild scheme, that produced 1 win since the boys took over.
Oh how far this franchise has fallen...
...it seems the Haslam and the boys thought that Belichick and Bob Kraft respected them enough to be honest and tell them the truth..maybe even a quick phone call before the news of the trade to SF became public..just a heads up that Garoppolo wanted to go to SF and Belichick honored this player's wishes. I'm sure Haslam and the boys would understand the fact that Hoyer being available as their backup played a part in their decision to make the deal with SF.
Fact is, Haslam and the boys didn't even rate a phone call from the Patriots. Talk about getting disrespected..this is about as low as I've seen this franchise, with only Modell showing more disrespect, imo.

I am not sure league rules would allow us to contact his agent. Tampering...ever hear of that?
I am pretty sure the contact would have to go through the Patriots.
It doesn't matter what JG and the agent wanted. It's about what the Pats needed. In order to trade JG, they needed a back-up who could step in at New England and be the back-up day 1. Hoyer played there. He knows their O.
That is the biggest reason the Pats traded with SF...they needed Hoyer to make the deal.
