Stay in bed.

Looks like the big action isn’t until 2018.

Two gubernatorial races. New Jersey is certain to stay Democratic.

While the Virginia gubernatorial is close to a dead heat.

I can't even pretend I'm excited.

Hold on. Let me try.

Umm.. in Virginia the main issues are:

Quote:
"Thirty-two percent (32%) of Virginia voters list economy and jobs as the top issue in the race, followed by 22% for whom taxes and spending rank most important. Cultural concerns including what to do with Confederate statues in the state are the top issue for 12%, while just as many (11%) cite illegal immigration. Nine percent (9%) are most concerned with law and order. Another 12% cite something else."

I wish they'd given these idiots lengthy jail sentences.

So 40:

It looks like the AFP* didn’t get a candidate on the Virginia gubernatorial ballot.

You’ll just have settle for that vanilla republican Ed Gillespie.

Personally I endorse the Libertarian candidate - Cliff Hyra (even though he doesn’t want my endorsement or vote)

But hey, I’m not a registered Virginian.

Something else that's kinda cool...

John Adams is running for AG of Virginia.

John Adams is a distant relative of former Presidents John and John Quincy Adams.

The Rocky Hill, CT Mayoral election is today.

Polls opened less than an hour ago.

Oh boy.

I’m headed to vote for the incumbent mayor Claudia Baio.

She’s the democratic candidate.

I’m voting for her because over the past two years she actually responded to and did her best to address issues I had. (like renaming the town rockyhilldawg and changing July 4th to rockyhilldawg Day)

Ever deal with your mayor?

We'll be voting to dump our republican Major who's done nothing in his term but raise property taxes and lower home values in our area.

Why? How can a major affect your property taxes and have any effect on home values?

And further, why would this majors political party matter?

And even further, I thought you were one that wants people to pay more in tax so the gov't. can do what the gov't. does - spend.

You have me all confused now. You don't like the army? Majors are fine.

J/C

It was just a year ago, liberal media types were on TV gloating, laughing, thinking about how they were going to continue the leftist ideology under Madam President. When I think back on that, it brings a smile to my face.

When I heard that Wade county was just about finished tallying their votes, I figured - "well, I believe trump just won florida". That is when it had a real possibility. I never thought NC was going to go blue this last election. So to me the first big step was Fl.

Then I seen some worry creep in on the faces of the TV talkin heads. A couple stutters here and there, some neck ties started to get loose, sweat starting flowing from the lights on set. Then just a mere hours later, Van Jones, Rachel, and the good ol boys were left cryin like chuck on live TV. What a great day it was!

Tonight I shall be casting yet another vote towards the death of liberalism which has been slowly dying in this country for the last 8 years. 1200 seats and counting. . . .

"Continue the leftist ideology"?

Obama was a milquetoast right of center centrist, and Clinton was only slightly further to the right of him.

That said, I predict Northam loses by 6-8.

Thus far in all counties I've checked (5 or 6 of them), where Trump won last year, the R is winning now but at a smaller margin - and where Clinton won last year, the D is winning now but at a smaller margin. This is going to be pretty interesting to watch tonight.

Interesting.. I'm looking at election results on my phone for Columbus.

Columbus City Auditor Democrat wins
Columbus City Attorney Democrat wins
Columbus City Council all 3 Democrats win
Columbus City School Board All 4 Dems leading
Muni Court Clerk Democrat wins
Out of 3 Judge races 2 Democrats win.. 1 Republican is the sole Rep to win anything in Columbus.

Looks like full scale trump repudiation...

In Virginia HD13, anti-LGBTQ Republican Bob Marshall (he introduced the Virginia bathroom bill to restrict public bathroom use by transgender Virginians) lost to....you guessed it, a trans woman. Democrat Danica Roem becomes the first trans state legislator in America.

Sounds like the old pendulum is swinging back to the left... tick tock, tick tock. With the possibility that Trump will be impeached looking more and more likely, people are waking up and electing real leaders. The Dems may or may not be the answer, but progressive liberalism with its humanitarian social values is the future of the US and the free world.

So, uh.. 40...

You must be so proud.

Hey, did you vote for Danica?

Did you stuff the ballot box?

Bob Marshall must be a complete loser. (actually, yeah he is)

Well my people lost so here is how I see it now.

The Democrats should use this as a rallying point nationally and the Republicans should see it as a shot across the bow.

Onward and upward. The people have spoken!

The Republicans are trapped right now though between many of their constituents and their donors.

The same thing happened to the Democrats when they started losing all over the country.

The pendulum has basically been, "Ugh, these people are terrible, let's vote in the other party. Ugh, this is terrible, let's vote in the other party." And nothing improves...

Well I sorta figured things were not going my way when I had to use the Men's Room at the Polling site.

3 urinals, I went to one and was soon joined by a woman next to me and finally a Giraffe at the third who kept peeking over at mine.

The "Trump Factor"...the gift that appears to be helping dems and hurting gop.

Honestly, I was surprised that Gillespie lose. I thought the dem might be able to make it close, but lose to Gillespie.

Northam winning by 10 pts...that is a shocker!

I expect Trump to continue to be the gift that keeps giving.

Got to love how quickly Trump threw Gillespie under the bus...lol

On a personal note, my niece's boyfriend unofficially won in Wadsworth yesterday. Medina County still has it as unofficial on their site at least.

Is this draining the swamp yet? Like Pogo, "We have met the Swamp, and they is us"? Or are we looking? Or we might have been wrong. Or over-representing a minority.

O r maybe we decided to incorrectly portray opposition to an issue as support for the other party. I think, polls aside, that most inmates at the political asylum vote against individuals or issues. It is a mistake to think they favor you and your party 100%. Hope this gets more sane.

Democrats won races large and small Tuesday, starting with the New Jersey and Virginia governor's races.

The party won hotly contested mayoral races in Charlotte, North Carolina, and St. Petersburg, Florida. In Maine, voters approved a ballot measure to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

In Virginia, Northam didn't just beat Republican Ed Gillespie in the northern Virginia suburbs -- he crushed him. Consider Loudoun County near Washington: Democrats won it by 5 points in the 2013 governor's race, and 20 points on Tuesday.

Democrats were also within striking distance of flipping the 17 seats they needed to take the Virginia House of Delegates -- giving the party much more influence on redistricting in 2020.

It all gives Democrats a huge psychological boost that could help their fundraising and candidate recruitment. It could also accelerate the pace of Republican retirements, as Republican Bob McDonnell's win in the 2009 Virginia governor's race did for Democrats.

Already on Tuesday, New Jersey Republican Rep. Frank LoBiondo announced his retirement -- creating another toss-up seat. There could soon be more.

The way to the future begins with the first step. Pretty soon you can add President Bernie Sanders to your list of Trump accomplishments. wink
