I like him, but at 6'1" he probably runs short for the NFL....at least for Hue Jackson.

Baker Mayfield, 592 yards against the #11 team Oklahoma State. That Oklahoma -Oklahoma State game was a travesty to real football. 5 hours of up and down the field. Enjoyed the Michigan State - Penn State game much better. I’m with u ... the sooner state battle WASN’T EVEN FOOTBALL ... In the first half ... i thought all the offensive players had red non contact jerseys on and all the D could do is try and push them out of bounds ... The NO D CONFERENCE ...

That is part of the Browns problem. That conference does not play defense and we draft their defensive players. Phil Taylor, Justin Gilbert, and Emmanual Ogbah.

Alright, I agree he is pretty good. But, if I was the FO I would quit drafting Defensive players from the Big 12.

One thing is becoming obvious. Don't play Michigan State in the rain.
2015 Ohio State 2017 Michigan 2017 Penn State
Dantonio can get it done in bad weather.

I was watching the College Football Playoff thing on ESPN. Good God!
What a bunch of crap! I had to turn it off. I'm so tired of the SEC bias. That conference has been pretty bad for the last couple of years, but we gotta keep hearing about all the quality wins against teams that suck this year.
I'm tuning out.

Georgia Alabama Notre Dame Clemson
Oklahoma TCU The next team after TCU is Miami.. who is undefeated and still has a game with Notre Dame and a likely match-up with Clemson in the ACC championship game.. So my questions are... can both Georgia and Alabama get in even though one of them will have to lose the SEC championship game? My answer is that I think they both can.. if they go undefeated and the championship game is pretty close, I think they both survive. My next question is, is there any way the ACC gets more than one team? My answer is no. In fact, the way the schedule lays out, I think it's more likely they get shut out than get 2 in. Next question, is there any way, a team other than Wisconsin gets in from the Big 10? Answer, no. Follow-up question, is it possible for Wisconsin to go undefeated and still get left out? Answer, yes I think it's possible but HIGHLY unlikely. Not really a question, TCU and Oklahoma play each other this week, so one of them is gone from consideration after this week.

How still has a reasonable chance to make the college football playoffs?
Alabama Georgia ND Clemson TCU Oklahoma Miami Wisconsin
TCU plays Oklahoma, the loser is also eliminated.
Miami plays ND so the loser is eliminated. Clemson and Miami play so one is eliminated. If Miami wins both they are in and Clemson and ND are out.
Out of 8 teams 2 will be eliminated for sure.
Wildcard team: Auburn They are 7-2 but play both Alabama and Georgia, if they win both then the SEC Championship game then ???

Between Alabama and Georgia, the winner of the SEC is basically 99.9% in the playoff. That's one spot right there.
Wisconsin is in if they finish things out. A loss in the B1G Title Game (which Ohio State still controls their destiny to be in that game) would most certainly knock them and the conference itself out of the playoff.
Notre Dame is in if they run their schedule.
TCU/Oklahoma Winner is most likely in.
And the ACC winner is in above the Big 12 if they run the schedule and win the conference.
Now the big monkey wrench in this whole thing could be Notre Dame stumbling down the line somewhere. That opens up a spot for someone, possibly in the PAC 12, Big 10 to grab the spot? Maybe a second team from one of the other conferences?
I think these exact conversations and arguments are why the playoff should stand at 4. The next few weeks are going to be so fun, to see how things shake out.
If it were an 8-team, Ohio State fans still would be in play, and based on their season as a whole, so far? They are not a playoff team. They have playoff caliber talent, no doubt, but they are not a playoff team.

Exactly. While having 8 teams is more "fair" and brings more eyes to the TV, there will be 3-4 teams that haven't earned the title playoff spot. As you said, OSU is the perfect example. Those two losses were putrid. Heck, having two losses should eliminate you immediately.

Either the whole college football landscape was down, or some team was just that good and had two heartbreaking multiple OT/Hail Mary type losses. I tried making this point to penn state fans and the folks who don’t like ohio state, but that’s why the buckeyes got in over psu. Winning the big ten was nice, as was beating Ohio State, but total losses should be the biggest factor. It keeps the week to week urgency of the season at the top of the sports world.

Yes if Alabama and Georgia go into the SEC Championship undefeated. I disagree that a non conference champion should go but Ohio State did last year so that opens the door to the SEC getting 2 teams in this year. Georgia for sure because they have a win over Notre Dame at Notre Dame will get in because they have the head to head win over Notre Dame. Alabama would get in even with a SEC Championship game with a loss. The ACC could get 2 teams in if one scenario plays out. Miami beats Notre Dame but then loses to a 1 loss Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Wisconsin will certainly get in if they win out. That would include a win over Michigan, Iowa, and either Michigan State, Ohio State, or Penn State in the Big Ten Championship game. For any other Big Ten team to have a chance to get in they would need chaos. TCU Beating Oklahoma. Then losing in the Big 12 Championship game. Ohio State may need Oklahoma to lose twice to get back in front of them with the head to head loss at home. Notre Dame beating Miami but then losing to Stanford. Auburn beating Georgia and Alabama. Georgia losing to Georgia Tech but beating Auburn in the SEC Championship game.

OSU basically needs a miracle ... the loss at Iowa was pretty damning and devastating

If the badgers win out ... THEY STILL WILL HAVE PLAYED NO ONE ...
Just curious ...
If georgia and bama win out ... bama beats georgia by a fg in the championship game ...
ND and Clemson win out ...
Who does Wisconsin replace?

Who does Wisconsin replace? I am an SEC fan but Wisconsin should and will in if they are an undefeated Big Ten Champion. I think the argument will be between Notre Dame and Georgia. Neither would have that 13th data point. Alabama #1 Wisconsin #2 Clemson #3 Georgia/Notre Dame #4

OSU basically needs a miracle ... the loss at Iowa was pretty damning and devastating I'd argue there is a 0.01% chance OSU gets in, maybe less. All of the teams above them need a 1st, 2nd and probably 3rd loss....and bad losses at that. ...not ALL teams. Three of them could stay undefeated or having 1 loss, but the other teams all need to start playing the Browns and lose out. Very unlikely.

We're done! I almost don't want to watch anymore.
One thought: I like the playoff format, but it seems to me that having a committee select the 4 teams is very similar to the days when a National Champion was crowned by a subjective vote.

Yeah, there is definitely overlap. If the committee has to make a tough choice for the 4th spot, they'll side to the bigger school for ratings.
However, and this has to be painfully obvious, this is a TV show. Ratings are important. It might not be fair, but when millions are on the line and it's not our money, I don't blame them.
It sucks, but oh well. That's why it's cool rooting for a smaller school. I don't have to have that concern. My championship is a conference title and a bowl birth. Toledo is usually in contention for both every year.
Being a fan of 2nd or 3rd tier Big 10 teams, it must be frustrating. Even if you have a great season, the committee may overlook you because you're not "OSU", "Michigan" or "MSU".
What's really the other option? Conference winners? That's way worse.

OK College Football, General thought
I saw both Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold play a little last week, and
I didn't like much of anything from Sam DArnold
I liked almost everything I saw of Baker Mayfield. (all year)
(would we really need to draft a guy with that first syllable of Sam's last name anyway, in his name,? The Browns already have enough bad luck, don't forget Jeremy MdPhails, )
THE BIG THING IS !!!
They are going to play BACK TO BACK ON FOX TODAY, USC, then Oklahoma, at 4:00 and or at 8:00 .
So Ask yourself Who's going to have a better game, and I tell you it's going to be Baker Mayfield, NO DOUBT! because I think he's just far and away the better NFL prospect.
( Now remember, that I say, the most important thing, when judging a QB for how he's going to do in the NFL, (besides how he plays in his bowl game +rivalry +against the toughest competition:)
Besides that^ the most important thing a QB can do is keep his number of incompletions low.
12 for 14- for 140 yards
Id take that any day over 26-46 for a MILLION yards. (booo!)
Who is going to have the better day today!
I don't want any part of Sam Darnold joining the Browns.

UGA! (Georgia) hasn't been the same team on the road, going back 10 years.
They probably shouldn't have been given the #1 ranking in the first place.

Looks like Notre Dame and Georgia were vastly overrated. Not that that is all that unusual. They are typically exposed earlier in the year.
