Question for anyone: even though he's been away from the Browns since last October, would he still have access to the playbook, and I assume -perhaps wrongly - the playbook would be similar?

Actually, I'd forgotten that he was allowed access last year.

I would not be surprised, at all, if he had *some* access.... but, I don't know if the team would want to leak out *everything* to a guy that isn't in the facility and may have never come back.

I THINK it would be similar, but unsure. I doubt he would have access to the playbook , but wasn't sure.
Hence the question. I ask because I wonder and hope he's not coming blind into a new o.

Sorry. It was a good question.

I might be totally off base, but I just think that if the Browns intend to bring back JG, he would get a playbook, regardless of the rules. How would the NFL monitor that?

I would guess that the playbook is very similar to last year and that he does have access to it.

I think a lot of people get drunk after every Browns game. It wouldn't surprise me if Hue has become one of them.

I also think you can support a person without supporting everything they do.

...just saying.

Couple questions:

Do teams collect playbooks from players at the end of the season? If so then he wouldn't have last years.

Do league rules allow him to have the playbook?

I am sure if Josh Gordon had a playbook and it was against league rules that someone would use their iPhone to snap a photo of him with it at Stabucks. It would be posted online and go viral.

For his 1st game back I wouldn't try to make him learn any plays. Every play that he is out there I would just have him a deep post pattern. That is the route he runs the best. He can win it based on physical ability alone and even if he doesn't it provides that deep threat that opens things up underneath.

I have no idea how effective Josh is going to be on the playing field.

A part of me flashes back to all those electrifying plays he made in his Pro Bowl year.

Another thought is how poorly he played in his last action on the field. I believe that was the year we started 7 and 4 and fell apart after he came back. He looked bad and disinterested.

I also wonder if not playing for so long and abusing his body is going to adversely affect his performance or if he is truly a physical freak who is unaffected by such things?

Who is ignoring it? Who's accepting of that behavior?

I find people being accepting of his "coming clean" with the media and fans. As a fan and as a human, I'm pleased he came clean. Good wishes to him.

But I don't see any one accepting his actions of drinking and doing drugs while in the league.

Working out and paying attention to diet would reduce body fat.

Hopefully JG reports in good shape..

From everything we've seen the past few years in those instagram videos/pictures, he was always working out and in great shape. This time....no booze apparently.

Browns' Josh Gordon in 'best shape of his life' according to manager Michael Johnson

Johnson is, if nothing else, invested in his client
by Kevin Skiver Nov 2, 2017
link

Josh Gordon's manager really wants Josh Gordon to get a job again. Gordon is in the middle of his "comeback tour," as he has been reinstated by the NFL after a myriad of suspensions.

He hasn't played since 2014, and many are questioning his ability to get back into "football shape" after two years out of the league. Gordon, however, is out to prove everyone wrong. He released a documentary following his comeback efforts, and now his agent is speaking out for him.

"Josh is in the best shape of his life," according to Michael Johnson, Gordon's manager, per Adam Schefter. Johnson has spoken out on Gordon's behalf before. Back in March, Schefter also reported that Johnson gave a glowing testimonial on Gordon's health and condition.

Josh is living with me and is in the best place mentally that he has been in dating back years before entering the NFL. He has taken the proper steps to treat his issues and has followed a very strict protocol that the league and our team here has laid out for him. He's also in the best shape of his life and feels even better than he did when he had his breakout year in 2013. This will be a special year for Josh and we are all very proud of the way he has taken the necessary steps to turn his life around.

Gordon's absence from the field has been speculated on and questioned frequently, but if this is true, it could bode well for the woeful Browns. Their receiving situation, much like many of their situations, is dire. Kenny Britt has been a disaster, and Gordon could provide a spark based on talent alone. In spite of the frustrations with his off-the-field antics, talent like Gordon is irreplaceable. He has been reinstated on a conditional basis. "His commitment to sobriety and to reaching his goals in football and beyond will determine his success. It ultimately is up to Josh," commissioner Roger Goodell said on Gordon's reinstatement.

Gordon seems to be taking it seriously, based on comments, but now it will depend on what happens with him back in the game. Although the Browns' season is a loss, perhaps Gordon can install a glimmer of hope moving forward. Regardless, there will at least be a large contingent of fantasy players glad to see Gordon take the field again.

We'll see soon enough when he steps on the field.

In his case, being "in shape" also takes into account the condition of things between his ears and how quickly he can onboard all sorts of new information to be up-to-speed with the rest of the offense (which, honestly, shouldn't take too much with this offense).

Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants if he still hits 1,000 yards receiving??

Being in shape, conditioning..is one thing..but in FOOTBALL SHAPE...that is what Gordon is going to lack the most.

Getting hit and performing at a game pace are different than cardiovascular conditioning. The best way to get yourself into "game shape" is live contact.

Hopefully he can avoid injuries..pulls-strains seem to be common after long layoffs.

Then there is the battle that will be going on inside Gordon's head and how he handles some teammates who could be a bad influence, given JGs battle with drugs and alcohol.

I hope he has the internal strength to deal with everything...

I read he has been pulling tires through sand. That will put a strain on a person. I am not all that worried about his physical condition. The key is getting him up to speed with what the team is doing.

8 plays is all we need with that guy.

JG Screen
JG Comeback
JG Out
JG Slant
JG Fly
JG Post
JG Flag
JG Jump

Call one of those 8 every pass play.

I guess you could call it 16 plays.

JG Left
JG Right

I'm not sure in terms to the playbook. What I can say is the verbiage should be the same which is the most critical. Each HC has his own verbiage in how the plays are called. Each letter, number, word etc... has its own meaning.

Every time a new system is installed, the players have to learn that from scratch. It's like learning an entire new language for the players.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If Gordon can stay clean and motivated he will be a great addition. I have my doubts. He will need a lot of support from strong leaders on the team. Do we have any? Again I have my doubts.
