And that's the point. Our GM's have been terrible. They haven't earned their salaries. You get paid millions to evaluate and draft talent. and the most important player on that list is a franchise QB.

You either earn that seven figure salary or you won't have your job for long.

And these so called "draft gurus". Do you think they actually have the skills needed to be able to take their word for the draft? Seriously? They don't know their asses from a whole in the ground. A lot of their evaluations use the main ingredient you claim so much to hate. STATS! And you know who stats are for. lol

I actually think we do pretty good in the drafts sans 1st round. Our biggest problem is we keep blowing the team up and not re-signing these players. Could you imagine our WR core if we kept Benji or TP, neither of them were expensive. Yes, that probably doesn't make a top 5 WR core, but it's a lot better than what we have now. This situation could be applied to most of our position groups. That's why I'm so afraid of another FO group. Who out of these classes will they let go? Coleman? Kirksey? Garrett?

I don't know what the future holds. But I do agree with you that unless you have an available upgrade or replacement in the wings, you don't let your talent walk. That's just not how you build a team.

Now there were some players that simply wanted out that I believe they simply couldn't keep. But you bring up prime examples of some we could have. And much like you I agree they weren't elite level players, we are certainly worse off without them.

I would love to see us have a decent team to the point you can develop players behind them. So that when and if they do leave, you have players that are ready and know the system so they can step into the line up. Quality depth. But at this point a lot of our starters would be that quality depth on good NFL teams.

I have never and will never blame the FO or Hue for that ... if they didn’t love Wentz then trading back was the thing to do ... we needed an influx of talent and building through the draft is the best way to get started ...

Any chance u can dig up some scouting reports for my lazy ass .... wink

I was trying to educate people. I didn't insult devil. In fact, I said he was just repeating what someone else said.

Of course, two of the usual suspects somehow act like I am starting the problems. I am so freaking sick of those 4 or 5 posters following me around and starting BS! It's not even fun anymore.

Here is a scouting report from PFF, Diam:

Quote:
PFF scouting report: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
BY PFF ANALYSIS TEAM • APR 4, 2016

AMES, IA - AUGUST 30: Quarterback Carson Wentz #11 of the North Dakota State Bison throws the ball in the second half of play against the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium on August 30, 2014 in Ames, Iowa. North Dakota State defeated Iowa State 34-14. (Photo by David K Purdy/Getty Images)
Below is the PFF draft profile for North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz, which incorporates PFF’s college grades and scouting intel from our team of analysts. To see all of PFF’s 2016 scouting reports, click here.

Position fit: Starting QB

Stats to know: Finished with the ninth-overall grade in the draft class, but had the best raw grade per dropback. Accuracy percentage of 38.5 percent on deep (20+ yard) passes ranked 29th in the draft class. Accuracy percentage of 57.1 percent when pressured tied for 27th in the draft class.

What he does best:
• Arm stands out. Throws with great velocity
• Can fire the ball in there on the deep out/comeback. Made far-hash throws look easy at the college level
• Arm strength on comebacks and seam routes make him a prime candidate for a vertical passing system
• Did a nice job finding the open man and moving the chains in the 1-10 yard range, even if his timing was less than ideal at times
• Did a nice job as a designed runner and as a scrambler in college. Can pick up yards on the ground, but not sure how much his future team will want him to do so at the next level
• Throws with anticipation on first-read throws, can zip the curl route before the wide receiver’s break
• “Shows” touch, but it’s often a much slower throwing motion and his accuracy is hit or miss
• Ranked second in the draft class in adjusted completion percentage at the intermediate (11-20 yard) range at 70.7 percent
• Inexperience. Has his warts, but given how few snaps he’s played, ceiling remains high

Biggest concerns:
• Slow to process in the passing game. Will be late on short and intermediate throws, but arm strength bails him out. Will this still work at the next level?
• Rarely got to a third read in his progression, even when running common, staple passing concepts. Their boot play had three options and Wentz would regularly miss the third receiver, even when the first two receivers were covered
• Inexperienced. Much of Wentz’s lure is the physical size and arm, but will he progress and maximize his potential?
• Accuracy at 21-30 yard range was well below average, his adjusted completion percentage of 43.5 percent ranked 23rd in the draft class. For a big-armed quarterback, has to take advantage of throws in this range to maximize his potential
• Not always nimble maneuvering the pocket. Attempted only eight passes after breaking the pocket and completed one for negative-five yards

Bottom line: There’s a lot to like about Wentz, but still so many question marks. The size and big arm stand out, and it’s not just aesthetics – his velocity is an asset at the short and intermediate range at the next level. The concern is whether or not the big arm loses accuracy beyond 20 yards to be effective. He’ll flash some touch on the deep ball, but it’s far too inconsistent at this point. Wentz would fit well into a vertical passing offense that will allow him to zip throws into the 15-25 yard range while moving the ball in chunks. His lack of timing in the passing game is a major concern, but if he can iron it out, the upside is immense. Any team drafting Wentz is banking on huge improvement in a number of areas, but given his relative lack of experience, the gamble may just be worthwhile.

Thanks Vers ....

Listen man .. u and I have been talking about your “posse” for years ... not going to re-hash it ... i still have the same advice .. this is like Groundhog Day but it NEVER gets better ... *L*

IGNORE THEM ...

Man ... no clue what i would have thought of him ... u know me .. my two biggest things in a QB are accuracy and “brains” ...

The stats make it appear he was very innacurate after 20 yards ... that would have turned me off .. BUT u know me ... i would like to see those plays .... what else went on ... Stats don’t tell the entire story ... they just tell u the end result ...

Two things for sure that he can do that the scouting report said he couldn’t ....

he’s INCREDIBLY ACCURATE at all levels now ... his TD pass down the sidelines to Jefferies was on the run while under pressure and he threw a dime about 35 yards or so down the field ... if u didn’t see it, go YouTube it ... hes been INCREDIBLY accurate down field this year ...

He’s also been iNSANELY ACCURATE under pressure this year ... he “Rodgers” me all the time .. its like .. HOLY CRAP did i just see that ...

Thanks again ... give Phili credit for seeing something appearantly not many did ... good for them, bad for us ...

I do try to ignore them. It's beyond old.

I had some concerns about Wentz. I was moving him up and down the board....you know....like most people do in mock drafts. I ended up w/him having a mid-first round grade. There was a lot to like, but I had a couple of big concerns:

--PFF had that thing about processing. I saw the same thing and it was my biggest concern.

--I don't think I noticed the lack of accuracy, though.

--I had reservations about him playing against inferior competition.

--I didn't think he played enough games to get a good read on.

--The team won w/out him.

The strengths were there to see and I won't even bother mentioning them.

I thought he was risky at 1 or 2 and I was happy we traded the pick.

But again, I wasn't trying to make this about me. I was just putting some information out there. I provided links because I didn't want anyone to take my word for it. It was to educate, not start another battle.

Now, I am not going to link this, but I'm telling you that on this board, a lot of people liked Wentz as the best prospect and some thought we should trade up to 1 to get him. There were fewer guys who liked Goff more than Wentz, but after the Rams/Titans trade.....that wasn't as relevant anymore once the word came out that the Rams were going to take Goff. I was leaning towards Bosa or Zeke had we stayed at 2.
