j/c - I am getting a bit fed up with the 'win the deal' stuff.

If you do ANY training or schooling on negotiations - even the very most rudimentary stuff - negotiation is and has to be a WIN-WIN for both parties.

The idea that Sashi is like the 3 year old in the room shouting "mine mine mine" - and grabbing his toys and pouting and stamping his feet .... well I find it naive at best.

Do I think Sashi is the perfect negotiator? No. Do I think he's made mistakes? Yes. I also think that Sashi and his team have been dead nutz on when gauging the market and offering Browns free agents contracts that are above the going rate for that player on the ope market. . . Now how much more people think we should have offered - be it trade partners (NE) or free agents ... it's really difficult to know with any confidence as there are so many dynamics and issues we are completely ignorant of. jmo

Maybe Josh Gordon was the DD.

Gordon's been re instated for about 2 weeks now, but he still won't be playing this week? Even though he's healthy?

No wonder nobody watches NFL games.

Good point - one the article doesn't point out, or even allude to.

And the article never says he was drinking either.

Josh has to be smart enough to know this, doesn't he? He can be tested, what, 4 times a week I think I read?

Just "being" in a place that serves alcohol doesn't mean you are/were drinking alcohol.

It's not the best look for him - but go to any restaurant, decent place to eat anyway, and they SERVE alcohol.

I mean, what's the next report going to be? "Gordon seen in grocery store that sells alcohol"?

We went out with another couple last night. First stop, a winery, then we were going out to eat.

I had 1 glass of wine, so did my wife. Met 2 other couples there. Then, time to go eat. A local "sports bar", favorite watering hole was decided on.

8 of us sat down. I ordered a beer. The 4 women ordered beer, and shots. Petrone I believe. I looked at the end of the table where the women were sitting and told myself "Well, I'll be driving home." (my wife just doesn't do well with shots - I'll leave it at that. She's not a big drinker)

Over the 3 hours we were there - well, I had 3 beers. And food.

I was "selfish" in the sense that a dui, ovi, dwi - whatever it's called now - would be bad for me, and for us. I have a lot to lose. And heaven forbid, if there were an accident. Or even hitting a deer on the way home. Not worth it.

I have NOTHING financially to lose in comparison to what Gordon has to lose financially.

We can only hope he was smart. And from the lack of any followup on this, it would appear he didn't drink. (if he had, my guess is there would be video from SOMEONE)

Whole point is: Where is Gordon supposed to go eat? McDonalds?

He's served his suspensions, etc. He's hopefully learned. If not, he'll never have another chance. I'm sure he knows that. Can he follow through? Who knows - that's on him, right?

But it's very possible he/they simply went out to eat.

Most anyone that works out has a post workout meal. It says they were working out Thursday "night". If it were early Thursday evening, I'm sure that would have been in the article given the way the author is presenting this. The "more bar than restaurant" crack can be said about most any place that serves decent food at night. I'm no Gordon apologist and he should expect this type of thing and be more careful where he puts himself, especially at night.

Did she say they were in the restaurant/bar at/after 11:00pm? Or simply that that particular locale is more bar than restaurant after 11:00pm? He could have been there at 7:00pm...no?

Yep. And the "more bar than restaurant" points almost exclusively to TownHall. Place is packed like sardines til the dinner crowd disperses. Furthermore, TownHall would be the PERFECT place for a late night meal. Their late night menu is actually more like a "health food menu". I was surprised and thought "wow, probably a good landing spot for people to sober up and eat some real food before they drive home".

Haha. I know, it's not like something a world class trainer would recommend. World's better than your late night standard fare "bar food" though. That's all I saw online, but they also have a whole menu of salads and a juice bar / smoothie menu that they hand out after 10.

According to some on here, Josh Gordon has always been innocent. It matters not how many times he has been caught breaking the rules and lying about his actions.

How dare anyone question poor Josh Gordon!!!

Absolutely question things - but, do so fairly.

This tripe being thrown out there is anything but that. If you cannot see that, then you are not even remotely as neutral or unbiased as you pretend to think you are.

Josh Gordon being out and about is being turned in to a big deal by ignorant, spiteful people who live to attack, undermine and stigmatize those desperately trying to get their lives together. Thankfully, that is an expectation of anyone who is recovering, so Josh will be prepared for it.

To anyone who has actually gone through recovery, exposure is a key part of continued sobriety. No matter what your issues, you cannot run from it. This is especially true for something as accessible as alcohol, which no addict can ever fully avoid without ever leaving their house. It is good for Josh to be at a restaurant, in a grocery store or walking down the street close to shops that sell alcohol. His temptation will be present for a long time, so getting accustomed to rejecting his urges while his will is strong is a necessary step. This is something he will have been doing for some time now, and will also have been part of his out days while he was in rehab. Anyone can resist the urge when the substance isn't present.

Josh clearly doesn't take his issues for granted. He lives with his business manage, he goes out with friends rather than alone, and these people close that will obviously be in his support network. Greg Little is a terrible receiver, but not a bad person, with the exception of clearly struggling with parking. Greg and Josh are close, have been for a long time, and I trust that Greg is someone supporting Josh in his efforts.

For what I have read, Josh and Greg worked out and then went to get a bite to eat afterwards. There are no reports they were drinking. That's a very positive step until we have any reason to suspect otherwise.

For reasons I will never understand, it seems people really want this kid to fail.

I wasn't talking to you. However, I think that guys like you and the poster I replied to [note his choice of words, such as ignorant] have a tendency to make things personal if others don't totally exonerate Gordon.

I'll try to be real clear here. I am NOT making big deal out of this report. It would be wrong to do so because there is no verification that he was drinking or being wasted. On the other hand, given the history of both Gordon and Little, the time of night, and the location [to a lesser extent I can't automatically claim that nothing happened.

Gordon has a history of saying the right things and then breaking the rules. He has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a history of hanging out w/the wrong people. He has a history of lying about his behavior.

While I am not saying he is guilty in this particular incident, the skeptic in me can't automatically dismiss it and assign blame to others for questioning his actions.

If that make me "ignorant" and "hateful" in the eyes of some of you...........so be it.

You seen the response to Mary Kay Cabot's story? You'll first notice Christian Kirksey literally responded to it on Twitter telling her to "Leave the man alone." As did a lot of fans who are tired of the character assassination of a guy who has literally done nothing wrong.

Would you like me to list every single writer who has had something to say? It's in the hundreds, if not thousands.

And the chronology has been incredible. First, a restaurant. Then, a restaurant that is more bar than restaurant. Then it became a "late night spot." Anything to include a tone that makes this bigger than it is.

And you're no different. Everyone here can see that.

Damn right I used the word ignorant, and that's polite version.

I love this response, because my post wasn't even directed at you. If I was calling you out personally, I'd have done so, considering you're right there. You just know you fit the description, so you immediately jump on the defense.

Personally, I don't really care about your comments on it. Media with a tremendous reach matter far more than someone on a forum (You, me, anyone included) that are desperately trying to generate a negative story to stir up public interest. That can reach Josh. That can have a tremendously negative impact on Josh, his sobriety and his connection to the community in general. It can also reach the type of people responsible for the abuse of Gordon's family members and himself.

To be honest, I just don't even bother with your comments on Gordon in general. You're as transparent as glass on this one.

I wonder if Little was drinking. Even if Gordon was not, if Little was hanging out with him, it would be a really rotten thing to do for HIM to order a drink around a recovering guy at such a vulnerable time. But if I knew Little was not drinking, I would feel better about Gordon, his sobriety and his choice of running buddies.
Some here know more about addiction and recovery, so if I am off base, have at me. But I think Gordon is a sensitive and even sorta smart guy who is just a bit of a lost soul. I feel bad for him, but he has a history of screwing up and lying. He needs people around him who have his interests at heart and will refuse to enable him. And even then, it is up to him and may not work.

Gordon cannot control what others do..he can only control what he does. That is the "real world".

While others might not have total respect for what Gordon is going though, and might make some not so smart choices,
it still comes down to Gordon's conduct and not the conduct of those around him.

I do not expect Gordon to remove himself from reality and
isolate himself in a room to avoid all locations that serve alcoholic beverages.

I do expect Gordon to abide by the rules of his reinstatement and those who have a copy of Gordon's agreement with Goodell and the NFL, could you post it?

Truth is, no one on this message board knows what limitations (if any) are in Gordon's terms of reinstatement.

Gordon will find himself in the middle of groups who may be drinking. It's up to Gordon to deal with that reality in his own way.

Gordon's past gives me plenty of reasons to feel he will screw up again. He has a lot to prove and over come and I doubt he's strong enough. I hope I am wrong.

Well that's a reasonable position. Although I don't think anyone is blaming others for his actions - just questioning if the "journalist" was trying to make a story out of nothing as there was literally nothing (no facts about JG drinking) to the story.

This on the other hand is pure garbage. And as you are the number 1 poster on this board for calling people out on their posts and acting like the Board Police --- I'm happy to point out your BS when you write it. Funny that you continually write in a confrontational and antagonistic style and then act shocked when people try and hold you accountable for the posts you write. . . . . People might disagree with you but no-one has a problem when you talk football, in fact it's normally a great benefit to the board. The trouble is many of your posts are personal or non-football, and then you act shocked that people respond.

Given his history.........I have my doubts about him not going there to drink.

Look I don't trust Gordon to stay sober, but I don't campaign against the guy either.

Gordon hasn't earned my trust. I'm not counting on him. His next mistake is probably his last mistake in the NFL.

I personally don't care if...

He was at a restaurant at 11 PM.

He was at a restaurant at 11 PM that served alcohol.

He sat and ate at the bar.

Little was sitting next to him and drinking.

Little got trashed.

Little got in a fight.

The only thing that I would care about is if someone saw him drinking. If he was drinking, it would have been reported. It would already be on Facebook and Twitter. He was in Euclid and not in Florida. Everyone in that location knows what is up with JG. Reporters most definitely followed up this report by interviewing waitresses and bartenders. They aren't going to let a news story go by without some research.

As others have posted above, you post pure garbage and are shocked when people react to it. You have only yourself to blame.

Nice post Otis ....

Ask anyone thats ever gone through rehab and/or the program ....

Hanging out with BAD INFLUENCES, like lets say being out with Little while hets TRASHED is a HORRIBLE IDEA ...

Purp alluded to it in his post .... while also presenting facts on the other side ...

U on the other hand HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT ..

Then again ... Otis never dried out ... rofl ...

I agree with Diam and others that Josh needs to stay the hell away from establishments that serve alcohol. It's too early in his sobriety to mess around with temptation.
Perhaps he's strong enough to buck the norm and be a happy teetotaler at a bar while enjoying an evening out with a buddy - but it isn't wise IMO.

Greg Little needs to look out for his friends, too.

And MKC is terrible, a muck-raker and mediocre sportswriter.

Your post wasn't personal. LOL

Whatever. You don't like me. I don't like you. Big deal.

There are about 4-6 of you who ruin this board w/your BS. You don't like hearing alternative opinions. When you do, you attack, and as a result we have lost a lot of quality posters and we are stuck w/guys like you.

That would be hard to do, since just about every restaurant serves alcohol or has a bar of some type, except for fast food places.
