I'd call this picking nits.
Yes, he absolutely has things he can do better. There is not a coach out there that doesn't. Even the "infallible" Bellichick has headscratchers... the difference being that with him, folks just assume his genius see something that nobody else does and they just roll with it, lol
Yes, this can be taken as a microcosm and symbolic of things, but that goes also for it being an example of molehills being turned into mountains.
Overall - much ado about nothing.
Browns is the Browns

I'd say the fact this team is still playing hard for Hue at 0-11 and with all the injuries speaks volumes about the coach and person he is. Hue's the right man, just get him some playmakers (and maybe an OC).

Yep, we lost the game 30 to 16 and could not stop the Bengals when they needed to. Let me say it again......30 to 16, and this guy [and many others] keep bringing up our 0 and 11 record and writing a fairly long commentary on Hue is to blame.
All coaches have head-scratching moves and decisions. I've coached. You have to make definitive moves in mere seconds. Mistakes will be made. Everyone makes them. However, when you have such a horrible record, people look to assign blame and magnify each little move.
Here is an example: Hue got blasted for not making sure Kizer doesn't audible a couple of weeks ago in Detroit. A few weeks earlier, he got blasted for calling a TO towards the end of the half. We scored on the next play. Hell, I was actually screaming for him to take a TO because of all our Red Zone mistakes this year. I thought taking the TO was smart because we had the chance to get everyone calmed down and we would make sure that we had a good play call [and probably a second option.] We score a TD, but Hue gets blasted for leaving 40 seconds on the clock. LOL
Me, I want the TD and I think my defense should be able to stop the other team w/only 40 seconds left.
We have a very young and inexperienced team that has not had much success. Stuff like this is going to happen and and pretending that we are 0 and 11 because of these decisions is a monumental success.
Man Purp, [you don't fit into this crowd] it seems like everyone screams for continuity, but they sure look to assign blame rather quickly. We were told this was a multi-year plan. We were told that 2018 was the year we should expect to see improvement. We blew up the roster. We are playing 3 QBs who had never won an NFL game. Firing people right now would be yet another mistake and set this team back yet again.

I favor a saying popularized some years ago by Japanese businesses, when best practice and success were studied and advocated. I feel it applies.
"Don't fix blame; fix problems." We have fixed plenty of blame, have problems repeating, but have not fixed those. Consider how to stop the bleeding. Just a thought for Berea and the board.
Oddly enough, the blame thang IS our continuity.

The only thing that gives Hue a chance at being retained is Kizer's progress. 5 games remaining and Hue wasnt joking when he said he and Kizer would be tied at the hip. Their fates coincide. Hue was brought in to develop a QB and if he does that, he will buy himself another year. Kizer reverts to early season and well, most likely he will be gone and new guy likely wants his own QB.

Unfortunately I think Hue is already out the door. In fact he may not make it back from San Diego. If I'm the front office or Haslam, I would save Hue from going 0-16. It's the least you could do for the guy. As HC, that's something that's next to your name forever.

Depending on what happens in a Knoxville court room, Jimmy Haslam's future as a NFL owner could be in question.

05...did you hear what Florio said in the video that was part of the story linked to?
Player conduct has been a big issue for owners and the Comish this season...now the conduct of owners will be added to the conversation.

That is the only reason Dee appeared this year. She needs to appear to be an active owner now so she can take over ownership of the team once Jimmy gets in trouble.

I agree on players being less likely to come to Cle if Hue is not here. May not be a HUGE chance with him being here, but it'd be an even smaller chance without him. I still think that Collins signing was huge for us.

j/c: Hue Jackson preferred Carson Wentz over Jared Goff in '16 draft, sources sayCARSON, Ca. -- Hue Jackson preferred Carson Wentz over Jared Goff in the 2016 draft, league sources told cleveland.com. When the Rams traded up to No. 1 in 2016 to draft Goff, everyone assumed that the Browns opted not to take Wentz at No. 2 because Jackson only had eyes for Goff. Turns out that wasn't the case at all. When Jackson and then assistant head coach/offense Pep Hamilton worked out Wentz privately before the draft, they were blown away -- and instantly sold on him as their quarterback of the future, the sources said. They had sent Wentz a package of plays the day before, and when they put him on the board to diagram them, he had memorized everything -- something no one else they worked out privately was able to do, especially not so quickly. Wentz' football acumen pushed him over the top into No. 1 status for them, the sources said. He already had all the physical tools, and Jackson wasn't scared off by him playing at North Dakota State, because he had coached Joe Flacco out of Delaware as a rookie. Others assumed that Jackson was partial to Goff because he had coached at Cal and had the inside track to him. He also workout out Goff privately and spent extra time with him pre-draft. It behooved him not to show his hand so as to throw off other teams, the source said. But Wentz was the real apple of his eye, the sources said. Jackson was also the only NFL head coach to attend Wentz' Pro Day at North Dakota State because of a blizzard that kept most away. There, Jackson, Hamilton and Browns Vice President of Player Personnel Andrew Berry had an up-close and personal look at Wentz, and put him through the paces. Hamilton, like he had done with Goff, squirted the ball with water and did other things to make sure he was right for the AFC North. His first throw of the wet ball was a duck, but aced everything else about the workout. So why didn't the Browns draft Wentz, who's in the running for NFL MVP and has the Eagles at 10-1 this season heading into today's game against the Seahawks? As everyone knows by now, the Browns' front office had determined that Wentz wasn't going to be a top 20 quarterback, which Chief Strategy Office Paul DePodesta revealed in an interview with ESPN Cleveland before the 2016 season. "I think the hardest part, and where we have to stay the most disciplined, as much as you want a player, you can't invent him if he doesn't exist,'' DePodesta said. "In a given year, there may be two or three NFL-ready quarterbacks at the college level. In another year, there literally may be zero. There just may be not be anybody in that year who's good enough to be a top 20 quarterback in the NFL. "Even though you have a desperate need for one, you have to resist the temptation of taking that guy just because you have a need if you don't believe he's one of those 20 guys at the end of the day. I think that's the hardest part, just maintaining your discipline because you have the need. That's what we did this year." Of course, Wentz has climbed to No. 4 in the NFL this year with a 104.0 rating, and is showing flashes of being a superstar. He's thrown 28 touchdown passes against only five interceptions, and has dazzled the NFL with his ability to escape trouble and put the ball on the money. One NFL personnel executive told cleveland.com early this season that when all is said and done, Wentz will be right up there with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees. It was the same exec that told cleveland.com at the Senior Bowl in January of 2016 "if the Browns draft Carson Wentz they'll be set for the next 15 years.'' Of course, Goff has lived up to his No. 1 draft status this season too, heading into Sunday's game as the No. 8 overall QB with a 98.6 rating, and has the Rams at 8-3. As for Wentz, sources said he felt the Browns were going to draft him because of how much Jackson liked him. The two developed a good working relationship before the 2016 draft, and Wentz thought he was coming to Cleveland. Instead, the Browns traded the No. 2 overall pick to Philadelphia for a boatload of draft picks. So far, those picks have been used on Corey Coleman, right tackle Shon Coleman, quarterback Cody Kessler, receiver Ricardo Louis, safety Derrick Kindred, receiver Jordan Payton, offensive lineman Spencer Drango, Jabrill Peppers and DeShone Kizer. They also still have an extra first-rounder in 2018 from the Texans and an extra second-rounder from the Eagles in 2018 from that original trade. One source said the new Browns' front office always intended to trade that No. 2 pick because they needed so many players, and that there was talk of it as early as January. When the Browns played the Eagles in the 2016 opener -- a 29-10 beatdown by Philly -- Jackson felt he got a chilly reception before the game from Wentz because of the snub and the 'not top 20' comment, sources said. As for Hamilton, who doubled as the Browns' QB coach, he left Cleveland after the 2016 season and took over as Michigan's passing game coordinator, dismayed that the Browns were so far on their QB evaluations that season, sources said. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...ncart_big-photoFor his sake, I hope Hue isn't involved with any of this.

I call bullsh*t on Mary Kay Cabot's source. Big time. During the draft process, Hue Jackson's best friend, Mike Silver, reported multiple times that Hue desperately wanted Goff and didn't think Wentz was worth the #2 selection. And there is more of those Tweets, too. Silver also did a feature on Hue Jackson during that time called The First 33 Weeks that largely revolved around Goff and Hue's love of him. It outright states that Hue Jackson wanted Goff learning behind RG3, and wanted to move out of #2 when Goff was gone. Though Jackson was still enamored with Goff, who came to Cleveland for a private workout at the end of March, the coach's excitement about Griffin served as a hedge against losing out on the ex-Cal passer. Rather than exploring a trade with the Tennessee Titans, who held the No. 1 overall pick and were not in the market for a quarterback, as a means of ensuring that Goff would be there for the taking, the Browns decided to lay low and see what unfolded. And while Jackson was hardly thrilled when, on the morning of April 14, he learned that the Los Angeles Rams had executed a bold trade with Tennessee to move up from 15th to first -- and correctly surmised that they'd done so with Goff as their target -- he and Brown quickly rebooted and changed course. http://www.nfl.com/33weeksJust for clarity, I'm not accusing Hue Jackson, or anyone from his side, of leaking a false story. I think Mary Kay Cabot of lying because such a story will undoubtedly get attention and she's desperate.

why are you ranking a coach that went 5-11 back to back over the coach that got us a 10-6 season?

It is extremely important for Hue to be off the premises at the end of the season for fear of further detriment to the dear folks of northern Ohio. He needs to pack his crap never to step foot in this city again unless he is an assistant with one of our opponents. The devastation he has caused is reprehensible to the city of Cleveland.
Exciting football will be back in Cleveland this fall!

He's still the head coach. There is no guarantee he doesn't come back for the 2018 season. You can't just call for him to pack his things when he still has the job, wishful thinking or not. Edit: It's entirely up to, whomever it's up to, and until they make the call, we have to suffer through it.
