Browns fired executive VP Sashi Brown, the man who headed Cleveland’s personnel department the past two years, league sources told @diannaESPN and me.

This may not end well.

Might be late, but better than never. What does it do to the rest of "The Plan"?

Hopefully they can find someone who can work with Hue. But those odds are slim to none with none in the lead.

A new FO will want its own coach so here we go.

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

And so it begins.

I felt the fate of this regime was doomed after the bye week debacle.

I anticipate Hue being canned after the season ends.

It was wise to make the move on Sashi now in order to begin the search for the next President of Football Ops / GM.

If they bring in a traditional GM, Hue is toast. Reset the rebuild clock yet again Cleveland.

Hue seemlingly won the power struggle.

It doesn't have to be a HUGE blow up. Get a football minded guy who might give Hue another season. I would . . .

People shouldn't be getting their hopes up for Peyton Manning. If he came on board, it had better be in a lesser role where he learns as he goes. If I were him I'd stay the heck away from Haslam.

Hue will stay IMO ... just a shakeup at the GM spot is needed. ... get a FOOTBALL guy for goodness sake (sounds elementary, right?)

I think Hue staying is simply a temporary situation. And don't get me wrong, I like Hue.

But if you start your GM search considering only the people willing to work with hue, you certainly severely limit your search. I don't believe that Haslam would hog tie himself that way.

My take is Jimmy and Dee are going to let the new GM fire Hue.

Head coach Hue Jackson will remain on the job and the expectation is that he will return for the 2018 season, though whoever Cleveland hires as its new general manager also will have a say.

Thank God! Get someone to actually run the organization and ONLY report to Jimmy. Jimmy and Dee...get the hell out of Berea! It's that simple.

Good day for the Browns!

I don't disagree with that. Or decisions are made based on past ties to Hue, maybe?

Curious to see how the Haslams try to sell this.

Which dominoes are going to follow?

Leads me to believe Haslam wants to take another QB and doesn't trust Sashi to do it.

I suppose patience from Jimmy was too much to hope for.

For a month, a search firm has been vetting former #Chiefs GM John Dorsey, a rare accomplished GM who is available. #Browns are open now.

After Hue's attempt at a bye week coup, no GM in his right mind is going to keep him.

I wonder how many of the players that we just drafted will get cut?

1. What does this mean for all the other analytically minded people in the front office (DePodesta, Kovash, etc.)?

2. Hue Jackson is a lame duck in the same way Chuck Pagano is a lame duck in Indianapolis this year. After we stink in 2018 it will be very easy for the GM to blame Hue Jackson for the team's failures (around here this is known as the "Mangini"). I would just fire him now and get started with the new people as soon as possible.

3. Whoever we hire is walking into a great situation for a GM. Someone else did all the dirty work (this is known as the "Hinkie").

The Cleveland Browns have relieved Sashi Brown of his duties.
Brown was hired as the Browns’ executive vice president/general counsel on Jan. 16, 2013 and was promoted to executive vice president of football operations on Jan. 3, 2016.
Statement from Owner Jimmy Haslam:
“We have great appreciation and gratitude for Sashi’s commitment and leadership to our organization but believe transitioning to someone with strong experience and success in drafting and building consistently winning football teams is critical to the future of the Cleveland Browns. Today we informed Sashi that we were going in a new direction. The 2018 draft and offseason is pivotal for our franchise, we need to ensure that we maximize our opportunity for success; with our picks, free agency and building our roster. Hue Jackson will remain our coach and will return for the 2018 season but we feel it is necessary to take significant steps to strengthen our personnel department. We have begun the process of having productive conversations regarding leadership of our football operations and will provide further updates when appropriate. We thank Sashi for all his hard work and dedication to the Cleveland Browns.”

John Dorsey would be as good as we could hope for IMO

of course, I'd like someone who can actually evaluate/PICK a qb in round 1

Hey - why are you guys posting old news about Browns firing their GM from 2001? I mean 2004....I mean 2008....I mean 2009....I mean 2012....I mean 2013....I mean 2015.

If there's one thing you can set Santa's watch to - it's the Browns firing GM's, firing HC and benching QB's. INSANELY STABLE.
