My opinion is that Al Franken and the Democrats had a great opportunity early on in this cycle to get ahead of this story, but their inability to act fast enabled the republicans to employ well crafted whataboutism to support Moore. The democrats dropped the ball on this one (which they seem to do quite a bit in general.) I understand that we are treading on very shaky ground right now with this... we can't get to the point where a single allegation means the person has to step down or get out of the race. It would be far too easy to find somebody to make an allegation and you could, by default, manipulate entire political races that way.. That said, when you have photos and confessions (in the case of Franken) or many accusers with similar stories (in the case of Moore).... then the writing is on the wall.. whether or not a court could find Moore guilty at this point is rather irrelevant to me..

I agree entirely that caution must be exercised in "zero tolerance" policies or how one approaches allegations. I just don't think there's much difference in evidence of Al Franken groping a woman on camera (for laughs or otherwise) and Roy Moore writing in a teenagers yearbook. If I really wanted to play devils advocate, there's no photo of Roy Moore writing the yearbook entry. Al Franken is pretty cut and dry. Al Franken's evidence is damning because of photographic proof and multiple corroborations. Roy Moore's evidence is damning because of the sheer number of allegations made against his character. My hope is that by Al Franken resigning tomorrow, that at least one party did the right thing by pressuring an abuser of women into resigning from their position. While I feel it wasn't soon enough, it still looks to be coming much sooner than how the GOP is treating Moore.

J/C Gillibrand who has called for Franken to resign, recently blasted Bill Clinton for his antics and bashed him, and has been a strong advocate against sexual assault and for women's rights. However I find it funny she was just a few months ago taking photo ops and had her arm around Bill. Hypocrisy. She should resign as well.
