As it stands today.. with 3 games remaining .. the Browns have picks #1 and #5 in the 2018 draft. The Texans last 3 games are the Jaguars, Steelers, and Colts. There is a chance that the Browns could have Picks 1 and 4 ... if not even numbers 1 and 2 ( Pick # 4 is currently held by the Colts ). I know it is early to speculate, but with a new GM, what do you think the Browns should do ? Use both picks where they stand ? Use pick # 1 and trade down with the second pick ? If you trade down with the second pick .. How far ?

The Texans could drop below the colts, who play the Broncos/Ravens/Texans and the 49ers, who play the Titans/Jags/Rams. I doubt if they will drop below the Giants, who finish with the Eagles/Cardinals/Redskins, but the Browns could realistically end up with picks picks 1/4 or picks 1/3.

I would take a QB with pick 1, the listen to offers from other teams for the second pick .. if it is in the 2 - 4 range. I think there will be offers from other teams wanting a QB and will offer a lot for pick 2, 3 or 4.

I hear ya man. for me though, I would go those two if we have a chance to get them both. if we get Gurly type production out of Barkley and Rosen. that type of running game would take so much presure off of our young 3 QB's

If Dorsey trades back from #1 this forum will be hilarious
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Trade down from the second picks spot is very likely, although I'm not sure it would do us any good. I too would like to immediate impact players at these spots. Not sure who yet.

Rosen and the Penn RB Barkley I don't think that possible unless a couple of teams win out. Looking at the schedule, that isn't happening. I like what you said earlier. Rosen and Minkah. I would consider a trade down from #5 if it isn't too far, then a WR or a OT might enter the picture.

At this point, we have no idea what the Browns draft priorities will be on April 26, 2018. NFL free agency begins March 12-14 and we have no idea who Dorsey will sign.
Given the depth of this QB class and not having any idea what a potential trade might yield...just based on the factors I've mentioned above, there is no way I can "guess" what I would do or what Dorsey would do.
That said, I would not have a problem trading the top pick as long as the Browns were still able to address their own needs and the Browns received a premium return for the pick.
Imo, the ace in the hole for the Browns is "the second" first round pick that is projected to be the #6 pick this week. Like I said, if the Browns can trade the #1 pick for a premium return and still address their own needs with other picks, trading the #1 pick might make sense.
Something else to consider, at this point, it looks as though Depodesta will continue as the Browns chief strategist and his opinions could play a role in setting up the Browns draft strategy.
As of today though, it is way too soon to establish a concrete draft strategy, imo.

I hope we keep and use both picks. This team has plenty of draft picks.
I hope we take Rosen and Fitzpatrick. Two great players at positions of need. That would be a haul of epic proportions.

I second this, though with the caveat that I just hope it is a worthy QB; I don't know who is and is not at this point. The only other consideration I would have is a LT or trade down with our 2nd first to wherever we need in order to get that team's 1st rounder next year so that we again have two 1sts.

A - Rosen B - FitzPatrick / Barkley ^This. Or A - QB of Dorsey's Choice B - FitzPatrick / Barkley (assuming only one of the two will be there. If both are there, I think I have to go Fitzpatrick.)

I think a lot depends on where the Texan's pick ends up. There is a good possibility it could be #4. They have a 4 - 9 record and play , the Jags, The Steelers and Colts. I do not expect them to beat the Jags or Steelers. The Colts have a 3 - 10 record and won the first game between the 2 teams. If the Colts win the last game of the season, The Texans pick would be would be number 4, having lost both games in the tiebreaker. The 49ers currently have pick number 3, with a 3 - 10 record, same as the Colts, and play the Titans, Jags and Rams. They could also move past the Texans, with a win and the Texans losing out. If the Browns end up with picks 1 and 3, or picks 1 - 4, would this change anyone's projection to use both picks with no trade downs ?

I'm tired of seeing us take leftovers at QB.
As of now, I say Rosen #1 and Minkah Fitzpatrick in the 3-5 range.
It's nice to build a range of players to fill your roster. But at some point you must change directions and draft impact players and true playmakers. This is the third year of this build and the time for impact players is now.
It's time that quality over quantity be the direction.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

With the first 5 picks, and I hope we keep them all... I'd take (not necessarily in this order) a QB, RB, WR, T, DT or S.
After firing Sashi, I have high expectations with these picks. The Sashi-led drafts were pretty good, won't be easy to "beat" Sashi... and I am nervous because Dorsey's drafts aren't really great.

Just because a lot of his draft picks make starters on the worst team in the NFL doesn't mean they were good draft picks. They're just all we have.
Time will tell.....

QB then BPA for the rest. If they trade high picks again, expect the same crappy play next year.

Pick 1) Rosen
Pick 2) Fitzpatrick, Barkley, (based on BPA only pick -- Chubb)
Excellent talent will be available, stand pat and turn in the card. No need to overcomplicate the draft process.

I love it. But who covers the TE? CHS I am a tad out of my depth on that one. that is as far as I got on concept with Peppers. but I'll try. on man to man Jamie Collins? or Minkah? or come out of our 4-3 base and stick another CB in? Nickle? idk lol was hoping someone to help with that part of my plan for Peppers not sure how all that works anymore. I played high school 30 years ago. The NFL is much more complex these days for me.

Rosen at 1 is a no brainer......not even worth debating.
At five one of these three should be there (in order)
Fitzpatrick James Barkley
This is a pretty easy draft even the Browns surely can't screw up.

Barkley I'm sure is worth the number five or wherever we fall and IF he's there but man, a RB again that early and with TR still fresh in my mind...I don't feel too bad being a bit gun-shy even if I think Barkley would most likely work out better.

Barkley, Minkah, Minkah, Barkley. I think I have to go Minkah, especially with Guice, Chubb, & Josh Adams there to be had later.

No clue if Josh is coming out ... hes only a junior ... no word yet ...
Same with EQ ... no one in that thread about him mentione3d we have no clue if hes coming out or not ... hes very raw and could use a lot of polish ...
I really want 1 really good corner, safety and then another decent corner ... LOAD UP THE D BABY ...
Make it DOMINANT!!!!!

Make it DOMINANT!!!!! Gotta take care of that QB position first, of course, but then we need lots of this! No excuse for not having a top-tier secondary after this Draft.

I don't know how they stack up against each other, nor am I advocating on drafting based on need, but I think we're hurting for a blue-chip FS much more than we are for a RB (as good as Barkley is). We missed out on our FS last draft (Hooker), and our defense is hurting so bad without a guy that can patrol deep.
If Dorsey says Barkley is more Zeke than Trent, then fine (I don't really have a say in the matter)...
I also happen to think that Crow and Duke are just fine in our offense. We just need to get a QB that'll prevent defenses from stacking up the box and our line some more time to gel.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I'm making that ASSumption based on the fact that Rosen fits Chip Kelly's offense like a square peg in a round hole. It would be a HUGE shock to everyone if he came back.
