Jeff Fisher wants to get back into the NFL next year, could be eyeing three jobs if they open: Cleveland, Indy and Chicago. Fisher buyout from the Rams was $16M. https://twitter.com/mikejurecki/status/943161415027662848

Is it an upgrade if one is a better option but still a bad option? I think so. Doesn't mean one should do it, but technically it is an upgrade. Like playing draw poker. If you start with 2-3-4-5-7 of different suits, and toss the 7 and get an 8 in return. You upgraded, your hand is technically better, but it still is bad.

No thanks. I would have a triple shunt Fisher bypass. Might consider Marvy Matv here from Cincitucky to handle game stuff and help plan.

I don't know, he did a lot with very little while coaching the Titans. Didn't do nearly as well with the Rams.

does he have any ties to Dorsey?
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

His time has come and gone. He did a wonderful job keeping the Oilers playing at a high level while the city disowned them as they awaited their move to Tennessee. He then had the Titans playing well for a few years. Since then? Blahhh.

To Fisher's credit he did a good job with the Titans. The Titans haven't done much since he's left. He was also a good leader on the NFL rules committee board.
I'm sure there's more than one team that will be taking a close look at hiring him.

Jeff Fisher is worse than Hue. No thank you and I hope they destroy this thread!!! Is it even possible to be worst than Hue... 178-171 vs 9-37... Hue would need 2 complete full winning seasons to be at Fisher's level... AFC Champion,AFC central Champion,2x Afc South Champion, 6 NFL post season appearances, vs ZERO,NADA, Zilch Jackson has 2 post season appearances and 1 NFC North title has a offensive coordinator, both with the mighty Bengals... How people think Jackson is less than mediocre, is a big puzzle to me.... Fisher shouldn't even be mentioned in the same phrase, and I don't even like Fisher, but c'mon Fisher is a real Coach

Why do I feel like Hue’s agent leaked the Jeff Fisher wanting to return news...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Jeff Fischer makes A LOT OF SENSE here in Cleveland.
1. Gregg Williams was Fischer Defensive Coordinator with the Rams. This means we hire Fischer he keeps Gregg Williams which means we don't change schemes on the defensive side of the ball.
2. Fischer is experienced and knows what it takes to grow a young team. Most of what you see in St. Lois right now was built by Fischer. Had Fischer been given another year he would be the one with McVay's record. Last year Fischer saw 7 games in that Goff simply wasn't ready and benched him, this saving Goff's career. This gave Goff some time to develop that ended up paying off for McVay this year.
3. Fischer has a lot of experience and comes from the Bill Walsh coaching tree. Fischer values Defense, but he is also a guy that will hire an OC and pretty much play hands off in terms of letting his OC get the job done.
Fischer makes a ton of sense for the Browns, and if Fischer is serious about wanting to come here the Haslams and Browns would be fools not to hire him. Fischer is an old school coach in the mod of Schotenheimer and Parcells. He is the guy that will tell the news media when they start asking about the rookie:
"The rookie isn't ready yet, I don't care what our record is, he ins't ready and he won't play until i think he is ready. Stop asking me. Next question!"
this is EXACTLY the kinda coach we need here. A guy that will give us a fighting chance to develop a QB while not caving to FO and media pressure.Fischer carries a lot of respect and weight around the NFL. the FO will listen to him, a guy like Dorsey will take him serious, even Haslam will give him much more leeway.
Fischer is the kinda coach that very well could actually succeed in changing the culture around here longterm. If he is serious about wanting to come here, we need to do whatever it takes to get him. We get him, he instantly becomes our best coach since Marty Schotenheimer.

Last year Fischer saw 7 games in that Goff simply wasn't ready and benched him, this saving Goff's career. This gave Goff some time to develop that ended up paying off for McVay this year. The Rams are better because Fisher is gone. He has no clue how to develop offensive talent and consistently hired the worst offensive coaching staff in the league. Both Jared Goff and Case Keenum have thrived under new coaches. Fisher started Keenum and then benched him for Goff (even though he knew he wasn't ready) to try and save his job. 3. Fischer has a lot of experience and comes from the Bill Walsh coaching tree. Fischer values Defense, but he is also a guy that will hire an OC and pretty much play hands off in terms of letting his OC get the job done. Jeff Fisher never coached under Bill Walsh. Fisher's offensive coordinators with the Rams were among the worst in the league. He had Brian Schottenheimer for the first years, he was terrible and was fired (he got hired at UGA, where he was fired after one year). And then he had Frank Cignetti, who was fired during the 2015 season and replaced by Rob Boras (who is now the tight ends coach for the Bills).

I think the Rams proved for a long time that the Jeff Fischers of the world are not longer viable NFL coaches. You have to be more of a Mike Martz than a Jeff Fischer. JMO

Jeff Fisher’s time has passed in the NFL. I do not see him getting any other opportunities to be a HC. The way the Rams have turned it around after his firing is a bad look for him.

I'd rather have Marvin Lewis if we are changing HC's. Fisher is hands down better than any of the recent Coaches we had here... we would be lucky to land Fisher. And I don't even like Fisher, but lets be honest, he's not on the same league of Hue Jackson, and he is better than Marvin.. Marvin Lewis struggles to be average.... If Fisher has overcome his big EGO issues, and learned from the past, I think he can be a very solid coach.

Me, too. Just an ironic turnaround. Tell Fisher he is going home now. I do not want him here. It could lead to losses . . . .oh, wait!

I'm no huge fan of Hue, at this point.... but to swap him for Fisher!? Please. You're swapping Hue (who has shown some creativity with offenses in the past) for a guy that has historically underachieved. Hue might get it as a head coach, Fisher will not. I don't want Hue gone, but it's not because I think he's some great coach. I think he might be good enough after we give him the talent we'll haul in from this next offseason. I don't want him gone only because I don't want to restart the rebuild.
That being said, It's not hard to wrap your head around firing a coach that will probably end up having 1 win over 2 seasons. Add in the whole thing with him feeding info to his reporter buddy and pushing for the FO to give up those picks for AJ McCarron... you get what I mean. I would not be shocked, is what I'm saying...
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I don't get the hate behind Fischer, He would be a great hire here. What happened in St. Lois is NOT an indicator of his future in Cleveland. Fischer put together that roster that McVay is winning with. Fischer would keep Greg Williams which is a huge plus for us as we wouldn't have to change defensive schemes. Yes, Fischer likes to run the ball more then many coaches nowadays, but thats not always a bad thing. We get a RB or two in the draft, maybe bring a guy via FA, we can lean on the running game and a solid D and not hoist everything on the shoulders of a rookie QB. anyone saying Jackson is better then Fischer is ridiculous...Jackson ahs the worst ever record of a head coach...Fischer has never gone 1-15 and then followed it up with 0-14 and counting... Fischer is due to win a Super Bowl, pairing him with a good GM like Dorsey will be key. I would he estatic if we hired Fischer and fired Jackson, and when were an 11 win ball club next year with a top ranked D playing hard nosed Cleveland Browns football, you will be too. Jeff Fischer was born and Breed AFC Central Football...he knows hoiw to cultivate a team to play hard nosed AFC Central football, to punch the Ravens and the Steelers in the mouth with hard nosed football, this tema will no longer get pushed around with Fischer in charge. Here is a good read http://www.espn.com/blog/los-angeles-ram...g-on-themselvesthe players were in tears when Fischer was fired. Gurley, all those guys...it wasn't Fischer being a bad coach, it was the players failing to get the job done, they admit it wasn't Fischer's fault..Fischer put those guys in position to win, they just couldn't get it done...you don't get that kinda loyalty outta players like Fischer does unless your doing it right...guys like Gurley don't cry for just any Head coach being fired. Fischer would be the best thing to happen to the Cleveland Browns since Schotenheimer, just most folks don't know it...he will reincarante the old smash mouth AFC Central Smash Mouth Cleveland Browns...He will turn the Browns into the bully of the AFC North division. Fischer is the perfect personality to build the Browns after. Players will love this guy. I have always liked Fischer, he was 5 inches away from a Super Bowl title, the guy was so damn close, he got robbed, it is what it is, the Super Bowl he was in came down to the wire, to the last second. Fischer instills hate and wanting to smash in the faces of Cincy, Balt, and Pittsburgh, he brings back the old school AFC Central Cleveland Browns metality of hitting someone in the mouth, I love it...Fischer has a pretty good record as an AFCcoach, I take him all day every day, especially in this division...he is like Baby Cowher....heck he was 6 inches short of being a SB winner like Cowher. Its no wonder we don't win, you get a chance to get a guy like Fischer you do it... with how unattactive this job has been, it would be a blessing to get a guy like Fischer.
