Despite ownership lip service, I'm not convinced Hue is here next year. If he is, its only to save face.

still waiting to hear why our head coach ran the ball a grand total of 5 times with our running backs after we took the 7-3 lead by running it all over them in the first quarter. Someone please share their Hue wisdom as to why in the hell anyone with half a freaking brain would do this?

The fact we didn't draft a QB in 2 years with actual opportunity to get a Franchise prospect and instead come away with Kessler and Kizer...with a pick up of a released Hogan.

The fact that we let McCown go. We let Brock go, the only ones with experience.

The fact that once we were ZERO wins and 6, 7, 8 losses that we did not get a QB before the trade deadline. Ok there is a question on whether we had a shot on JG or not but Hue was begging for AJ McCarron.

My point is if HUE JACKSON had no control over the QB position...why would anyone think he had control of the other players on the roster?

jmho

A coach that has no control over anything, should have resigned 1st game into the 1st season...

HC is and should be the 1st responsible for everything in a team. If he has no conditions to do his job, he should quit.

We should have zero tolerance for excuses... which IMHO aren't even excuses...

And remember the amazing Qb's under Hue's tutelage were Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton....

Because Hue Jackson is in over his head and can't do the job properly.

We are going to hand over the #1 QB in the draft to this fool?!?!

But if you don't hand the job to him, he comes and says he has no real players....

If he drafts the wrong QB, I'm sure he will say that the he has no Real Scouts... Actually he will scout himself, draft the worst Qb's and then say the he didn't want to put any scout in the position to fail...

I'm okay with keeping Hue as I want some continuity and to see what he can do with a real QB. . . . I have always wanted him to have an OC, and this is one of the reasons why. In my mind he can't do both jobs - and in trying to do so he is failing at both. . . . This question of running the ball 5 more times after taking the lead is truly unbelievable.

If he ends up going 0-16 this season and if there is some FO/Team owner double talk to explain why he has been fired - I'd understand and won't be fuming mad.... on one condition .... that we have a bonafide replacement all lined up and ready to rock and roll.... replacing Hue with a Petine or Shumur would leave me angry as hell.

And why do you want Hue?

For sure its not because of his CV, he was head coach of the Raiders and OC of the Bengals....

Ans its not because of his amazing talent has a coach...

Its not because of his ability to select QB's.... Traded for Carson, failed to draft 2 of the 5 top QB's of the next decade...

Its not because of his amazing game plans.... 66% pass against top pass D's..

Its not because of his integrity...

Maybe because he is the best making excuses?

This right here should warrant a firing. We cannot put up with this any longer. I can't figure it out, why do we as a fan base put up with this.

I HATE HATE HATE pass happy coaches and would not hire one.

i think as fans we look at everything game to game and notice patterns, i'm sure Dorsey is too. I think when the season is over and Dorsey looks back and says, hey, we had a super raw QB, we knew this season wasn't going to be pretty. But did the coaching staff do everything in their power to maximize success while minimizing negative impact. I don't see how anyone can look at this year and say that is the case

That's why he need accountability from game 1, and all the rebuilding crap is nothing but an excuse.

You cannot play to lose, specially on football.

You don't rebuild, you upgrade. All your seasons must be better than the previous, if you are SB Champion, you have to win it again, anything less is a bad result.

When you bring a player in, it has to be better than the one you cut...

No excuses, not anymore..

Yet you have the new GM making excuses for you mediocre coach....

I think he was a good OC - and as the Browns HC he has had to overcome a lack of viable starting QB and a transition/purging of the previous regime's team and roster. I want to keep Hue because Joe Thomas and other players I respect and who know more about what is going on in the locker room speak with a ton of praise for Hue . . . he's made the mistake of thinking he can call plays, be the OC and be the HC and that was a huge mistake. I think if he is just the HC (and maybe playcaller) he will improve dramatically.

The #1 reason I want to keep Hue because every single week - regardless of the record, the entire team has come out and played hard and never given up. We saw under coaches like Shumur, Chud and Petine that players gave up 2/3 of the way through a losing season .... to me that speaks volumes. A lot of people wanted to give Chud a chance - and the last 3 games of his tenure were putrid and players had completely given up. I find it odd that people would root for the guy that the players quit on but not for the guy they all rally around.

i don't want Hue anywhere near our shiny new QB. If we had a vet, so be it. The vet would simply laugh in Hue's face

Why would you think that? Brock Osweiler left and went back to Denver and only had great things to say about Hue ... what are you basing this opinion on?

JT praises every HC, he dances with the one that brought him.. he's not going to say otherwise until Hue is no longer coach, and I think people are confusing loyalty to Hue with desperation and not wanting to be 1-31 and 0-16

lol my eyes and watching what he's done with Kizer, Kessler, and Hogan. No QB is going to thrive in that situation.

Browns passing offense: 32.1% success rate, 3rd worst.

They have called 648 passes - most in the NFL.

#Browns rushing offense: 30.5% success rate, 6th best.

They have called 295 rushes - last in the NFL.

I've always found Joe Thomas to be a pretty straight shooter and not into saying anything good if it didn't deserve saying.

I credit the players for continuing to work hard despite being thrown under the bus by their coaches on a weekly basis.

This should help put into perspective just how good the Browns run defense is... and also just how historically terrible Hue Jackson must be to allow a defense like this to go winless

To be clear: I'm not saying the Browns are actually good and Hue Jackson is entirely at fault... pass defense has been very inconsistent, Kizer is terrible... but how can you put a historically dominant run defense on the field and not scrap out at least two or three wins?

To me, that's on the coach. Thanks to the D, the Browns have been in a one-score game in the 4th quarter 9 times this season.. If you can't scrape together a single win in all those close games, that's a coaching problem.

I have been impressed with some of the D's work this year. But Williams seems to be unable to finish games. Prevents, bad coverage, deeeeeep cushions, little corner held, Just that we could have had some wins in hindsight. D denies scoring; if they do not, we lose. Better take one huge hard look at what happens in second half that has ALWAYS defeated us. I don't think that it will take laser-sharp analytics to figure what mede a lead into another loss too often.

It's fine to criticize Hue for the things he has done poorly - but to suggest Hue doesn't deserve credit for the players efforts is simply hating on the guy.

I don't know if I want Hue to stay or not(leaning toward not), but in all the post game and other interviews I've seen while Kizer seemingly takes responsibility for the losses Hue seems like hes always deflecting responsibility, almost to the point that he has not culpability for them. That, to me, says a lot.

I really really don't want to blow it up again. Especially since our defense has shown it can do some things pretty well. We have stopped the run for the most part. We weren't AS bad as I thought in the DB department. I like Greg Williams. I like Hue Jackson. I think if management had been a bit more firm on the conditions of his hire he would have been a lot better off. He should have hired an OC. Concentrate on leading the TEAM and game management and let your guys do their jobs. Mistake. I am no longer sure Hue is the guy we need. He may be. I want to believe he is. But MAN is he making it hard to do so. Everyone knows how you protect a rookie QB starting in his first season. You play defense and you RUN THE DAMNED BALL! NO ONE has a rookie QB throw the ball 47 times. Not unless he is Dan Marino or something. Kizer may end up being a good QB. Manning threw 28 interceptions his first year. Rookies do dumb things. Hue sure as hell hasn't done Kizer any favors this season. I just can't wrap my head around why you would abandon the run all year long while starting a rookie. Weird. If we keep Hue then I hope he gets it together and hires an OC. But if he is fired I will understand why. Perhaps Greg Williams could be the new HC? That might be interesting... I really would like to see this defense in year two.

Bard I don't think we've been able to finish games because our D is out there so much. If our O could sustain drives and do a little more scoring our D would be even better.

So it is not okay to credit the players for playing hard despite working for a less than stellar organization? It would be very easy for them to pack it in even if they did respect Hue Jackson (I am not saying they don't), yet they are still playing hard.

In the end I think it's both. The players seem to like Jackson, even though he throws them under the bus on a weekly basis, and we seem to have some high character guys who will regardless of circumstance.

Yup, even for lawyer it would be hard to do worst.... yet blame it all on the lawyer seems to be the mantra to some.

It should be evident that the FO work was less than acceptable, but even that was several steps better than what our coaches have done.

Blame it on Sashi....

Well your initial comment did not make it sound that way. I think it's fair to suggest that any coach generally gets the blame or credit when players either stop giving effort and when they give 100% every game. . . . I've never ever heard or seen reports where players are given credit for playing hard, the credit goes to the guy leading and motivating them. The exception might be if a captain or field 'general' was out there pushing them on in an obvious way.

Just because many have an axe to grind with Hue regarding the record and many other issues, I think anyone is going to lose credibility if they underplay the credit Hue deserves for the effort the players are playing with.

The 0-16 effort?

Coaches usually get the credit or blame for the results, not the effort.

And I honestly think the players are making an effort not to end the season 0-16. They are not playing for Hue, they are playing not to be the worst team in NFL history.

We are one fortuitously-placed hand of an UDFA away from being winless in two years under this HC. I'm not sure one could do that if they tried.

If we won 2-4 games a year in that span, it would make more sense to question the talent. But winless? It's time to move on unfortunately.

Have people ever considered that we can be talentless and badly coached at the same time.

Why people insist its either/or, when its quite evident that we have both the problems.

But being fair, I think the level of talent on our team is some steps above the level of our coaches.

Hue, is hands down the worst coach in the league. I would say that at most we have 10%-20% of the positions on this team where we are the worst in the league.

It has become apparent to me that Hue evidently did not have much say in the position of QB which one would think well at least HUE will have a big say in the QB position.

A coach that has no control over anything, should have resigned 1st game into the 1st season...

HC is and should be the 1st responsible for everything in a team. If he has no conditions to do his job, he should quit.

We should have zero tolerance for excuses... which IMHO aren't even excuses...

And remember the amazing Qb's under Hue's tutelage were Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton....

Actually the QB's under Hue's tutelage that got him the QB reputation was
Flacco,
Pryor got something out of a WR playing QB.
Dalton bringing him to ok to a Career year.

Actually I've seen improvement by Kizer due to coaching.
But I've explained this over and over again you can improve accuracy with technique but its like you can improve speed to a 4.9 guy but lets face it the guy will never be 4.5, 4.4 or 4.3 speed.

QB accuracy is similar. Kizer doesn't have a natural accuracy bone in his body. Yes, you can improve it but he is way down the totem pole he will never come close to average.

If everything goes great and I mean perfect he might be equal to Bortles 5 years down the road.

Except Dee hired the coach, not Jimmy or the lawyer.
