Lamar will jump during the draft process. I won't get into the reasons why, but I think a lot of people think he's dumb and question his football IQ. A lot of talent evaluators will be shocked once he's able to talk to them about the game. I think Lamar will give Gruden and ESPN a good show when they do his QB camp.

Not to diminish, but Miss St lost their coach. Sometimes when playing with a coordinator in charge, there is a let down. Those teams almost always play a dud and lose their bowl game.

No doubt bro.

But their defense is good, and the Louisville o line has been trash all season, and have bad defense, so it’s gonna be interesting to see how Lamar handles it, just from a pure QB watch standpoint.

Lamar's been having a bad game. Two interceptions and someone was able to catch him from behind. I'm shocked.

yea, 3 TD's, 2 picks, a 76 yard run that a defender was somehow able to chase him down on.

oh well.

still a way better game than Darnold so far.

It's not about one game. Both are great prospects, but in the grand scheme these bowl games are only a small percentage of what matters.

i agree 100%, bro.

Lamar has thrown more TD passes, less INTs, slightly higher yards per pass average, Heisman trophy winner and finalist, the better athlete, despite having a worse O line, worse team, and only one solid target to throw to, plays in a tougher division, plays against more nfl caliber players on defense, etc.

Aren’t these the games that really matter? Unlike baseball, basketball or other sports, the sample size is so much smaller with football. You have to excuse the cupcake games on their schedules which further reduces the sample size.

I’d say these bowl games, as far as how the player actually plays, is very important.

yep.

i agree with 15 that what matters most is the overall play of the QB's throughout the course of the season, but these bowl games is like playoff games for these kids, because these are nationally aired games, kids are trying to play really well for scouts, etc.

think about it. if Darnold would've tossed 3-4 TD's with only 1 or 2 picks in a win against OSU in a bowl game, so many posters would've labeled him the truth, and evidence that Darnold can succeed in the nfl because OSU has nfl caliber players on defense.

he lost and had a trash game (obviously not all on him), threw no TD's, had 3 total turnovers, and had a bunch of garbage time passing yards, and didn't look good whatsoever in the biggest game this season for his team.

but watch, whether or not jackson win this game or loses, more people will continue making excuses for Darnold and trash Jackson's play, even though the evidence is already clear that lamar not only had the better bowl game performance, but the better overall season.

I agree Lamar has had a much better game than Darnold. Darnold did himself no favors. That last interception Lamar just tossed was a receiver error, it was in his hands.

How sturdy is he? I honestly don't know but am afraid he'd break in the NFL. He's been bounced and bent around out there alot today. Too RGIII'ish is my first and admittedly uneducated guess. Just haven't watched Louisville much.

I think the games matter a lot depending on a few things. In general, I think they're more important for a team than playing against a conference opponent. Bowl games give you at least 3 weeks to game plan for an opponent. Can a prospect spend that time to work on his execution? If a prospect can't execute a game plan perfectly with 3 weeks of practice, how can they do it in the NFL? I also think it's important for a prospect to have a hard matchup and produce against them. Darnold had his hardest matchup of the season, but he didn't flounder. The matchup doesn't even need to be against NFL talent, it could just be against a difficult scheme or a team with a tendency that could exploit a prospects' weaknesses. Overall, I think this game matters more for a prospect than a September or October game.

he's more sturdy than Rosen, as Lamar has played in every game the last two seasons, while Rosen can't stop getting hurt.

and this isn't aimed at you directly, but i don't understand why people keep calling him RG3.

the pocket passer Rosen keeps getting hurt over the dual threat Jackson, yet people are trying to gloss over that and harp more on Jackson.

i don't get it.

A lot sturdier than Mayfield. He plays FSU, Clemson and Miami ever year and gets up after every hit like nothing happened.

Josh Rosen is 6-4, 218

Lamar Jackson is 6-3, 211.

Jackson’s receivers need to learn to catch with their hands. The receiver jumps to get to it before the defender, it’s perfectly placed and right through his hands.

it's been like that all season for Louisville.

Lamar's only reliable target is Jaylen Smith.

Both have a few kinks in their throwing motion that can be worked out at the next level. Lamar's base isn't always even when he throws and Darnold has an elongated motion as he brings the ball forward.

Game sealing pick instead of a game winning drive. Too bad, I was hoping he'd make it interesting.

Having watched Darnold yesterday, and Jackson today, my advice to both would be go back to college. There is a lot to like about both, but both would be well served by spending another year working on the skill set needed in the NFL.

What I saw:

1. Lamar was the second best QB on the field.
2. He is a great runner and incredible athlete.
3. He threw 4 picks (1 tip) against a middling SEC defense missing its head coach and def coordinator and people are saying he had a better bowl game than Darnold - LOL.
4. He should start practicing route running if he wants to play at the next level.

overall, not a good game from Jackson or louisville.

4 picks, 1 was definitely not on him. made some good throws, had some good runs. O line failed him all game, and only had one WR that was putting in work.

oh well. 3 TD's, 2 passing 1 running. still love him and wish we draft him. better bowl game than Darnold.

Can't see him leading a pro offense in the time frame we need a guy to do just that. A team needing a QB in a year or two would be a good landing spot.

If Lamar went against the Ohio State defense, I suspect his stats would have been even uglier. His O-line sucked for sure, but USC's O-line was worse.

we won't know, but the QB who is a first round prospect for being a passer had 3 turnovers and a horrible passing day against Ohio state.

both QB's had a horrible outing these bowl games. so i guess it's back to judging overall performances for the season.

at least lamar actually scored.

What? They don't even run the same. Nor could JT throw a ball for more than 15 yards. They're nothing alike. And I don't mean to dismiss JT, because he's my favorite OSU QB of all time.

Gauge what. Buckeye defense would have made him one dimensional and that dimension would have been passing the ball and based on what I saw today, the result would have been horrific for him.

If the Buckeye's were to make him one dimensional by taking away the run, wouldn't that mean they are creating enough pressure in the backfield to stop him from running? If so wouldn't they be having equal success on passing plays? How would that make Louisville's line better than USC? I'm having a hard time understanding your logic. Also, are you trying to say that USC has a weaker supporting cast than an unranked team?

If Darnold and Jackson declare for the draft the Browns shouldn't draft either one.

Darnold has ball security issues and Jackson's game will not transfer well to the NFL.

Running QBs usually don't last long in the NFL. Jackson would have to be more of a pocket passer in the pros.

again, people attached running QB to Watson, and he has 19 TD passes in the nfl.

it would be awesome to see what Rosen does in the bowl game this year...oh wait, nevermind. he bailed on his teammates.

Baker, Darnold, Jackson should be considered for our selection. i'm cool with either 3 honestly, but i'm good if we pass up on Rosen.

Hypothetically;

Rosen may pull an Eli Manning and not sign if we draft him.
Darnold and Jackson return to college. (Mayfield's immaturity scares me.)

Our best course of action may be to do what it takes to sign Cousins, draft Barkley and Fitzpatrick in the 1st, and use the 3 2nd round picks to get the best available WR, CB, and BPA.

If Rosen is that concerned we’d want him, he should wait to declare until the supplemental draft. By then we’ll have already picked someone that isn’t an automatic IR candidate.
