Penn State has a WR (D. Hamilton) and TE (M.Geseiki) I wouldn't mind having ...

You don't just fall from that status. Others have to play out out of it.

No doubt the SEC is down this year. Other conferences are starting to catch up, but top to bottom I still think the SEC is still the strongest, but I do understand that when they aren't winning their games, it makes it hard to make that argument.

Either way, I enjoy watching SEC games over any of the others except a select few games each week.

I am enjoying this PSU game. Looking forward to the Wisconsin V Miami game tonight.

The king game of the weekend will be Georgia v Okie. I think that could become a ESPN classic game. I will be pulling for Georgia since I only live 11 miles from the Georgia state line....lots of Dawg fans in these parts, but I am really wanting to see Baker. He might be our next QB.

Badgers win, Big Ten now 7-0. Only team left to see if the conference has an undefeated bowl record is that school up north.

Pac12 is a farce ... big 10 has rocked it!

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

The Big Ten doesn't get the respect it deserves nationally. Like no team in the playoff. I hope Michigan wins so the BT has an 8-0 record and can rub it in the faces of the committee.

That there is why I hate the way they pick who goes to the playoffs. I want to root against UM but have to root for them to make OSU look better. Same reason I hated the BCS.

They need to make it the 5 conference champions and one at large

Look, we didn’t get in the playoffs because we got absolutely dusted by a mediocre team. If we took care of Iowa then we’re in the playoffs, no question. A two loss team is not getting in if one of those losses was a bad one like That Iowa game. It’s on us not getting in. We need to own it and stop looking for excuses. Don’t be like Harbaugh.

Bama is in because they need 4 teams and they made the most sense as next team up.

I think the Big 10 has been the best conference for years and will be for years to come, but I'm not sure they've produced a top 4 team in awhile. Maybe since OSU won the Championship. The offenses are just a bit too stagnant compared to those at the top of the list.

Big Ten certainly has won its share of bowl games this season. We screwed the pooch by what we didn't do against Iowa. We deserved to be out. Mama was a default pick: Us or them. Two-loss us ? Them. I would like to see the number of teams increased. Gods know we have enough ludicrous bowls to go around.

Still irks me that Alabama got in without having to beat anyobody. I mean Ohio State's loss to Iowa is unforgivable but why not let UCF in? They have one less loss, and beat the same amount of teams in the top 15 as Alabama did.

The playoff should be reserved for 4 special teams and Alabama did nothing to deserve getting in. Their best asset was Ohio State losing badly to Iowa. That just kind of irks me.

An it is funny how I'm sure SEC fans are downplaying bowl season while they have struggled and the Big Ten is unbeaten.

A few years ago they were nonstop with the dominant SEC in bowl season.

It is the most laughable group of fans in sports. They will literally tailor any situation to fit their own narrative. High scoring game with one of their teams? "oh man, that's great offense!" Any other conference has a high scoring game: "Yall don't play defense!"

In the past, the SEC has always played down against competition. They would have ranked SEC teams play unranked midmajors or lowly ranked p5 teams. But all games are different. What conclusion can you draw from the UK Northwestern game, where Northwestern's star QB goes out with a knee injury in the first quarter and UK's offensive weapon gets ejected in the 2nd quarter? I think by the time the game finished they had 8 starters between them out of the game. It's hard to get any sort of conclusion out of that.

There's nothing wrong with the take you are presenting, but the problem is you have to be consistent with it, across the entire college football spectrum, and a lot of their fans just aren't.

Perception is such a huge thing in college football. There are literal rankings made before teams even play a game. That factors in as the season goes. it's ridiculous. I get that the offical CFP rankings don't come out until October (which is the right move) but you can't tell me or anyone else that those other rankings, some of which you can read right after the previous season has been concluded, don't play into the offical CFP rankings.

If I could set across the board rules, I'd dump as many preseason rankings as I could (which isn't happening), do away with the coaches poll, and let everything come naturally when it comes to seeing who is better than who.

Problem is, the networks ain't having that, because they want that that little number next to Alabama on the score graphic when they play early in the year.

For as much as I hate the preseason stuff, it is what drives college football.

OSU hasn't loss since the Iowa game. OSU won their conference championship, Bama didn't. Bama got in because of reputation, Saban, and the SEC.

OSU has one of the best D-lines in college football and a dynamic QB. I would like to see how they would have done against Georgia.

Harbaugh, for all the bluster and shenanigans, is a buffoon. He has led them to be the 4th best team in the big ten east. If that was the goal, then fine. I hope he stays.

Thanks Michigan for screwing it up.

Disappointments in 2017, and starting off 2018 as such.

A 15 yard out pattern on 3rd and 1. With a bad QB. With the game on the line.
Hue-esk in decision making by Harbaugh.
They deserved the loss.

I don't really follow UM - is Harbaugh still the Golden Child there, or are they getting tired of him? Also, it looked to me like he ran off the field without shaking hands with the opposing coach. If so, not too classy,

A lot of their fans are playing the "wait til he gets his players/QB in there" card.

He's an underwhelming college coach. I think his only real accomplishment in college football is when he took that Stanford team and beat USC.

He's more built for the NFL, and will be there again in due time.

He's annoying, but I would take him to coach the Browns in a heartbeat. Especially with the situation we have now.

What's going to be the excuse for SEC fan with this Auburn loss?

1) They didn't want to be there

2) The real championship was the SEC title game

3) They played down to their competition

4) unintelligible

I like how the playoff was supposed to be an alternative to the P5 dominating the National Championship. A way to give mid majors its shot at playing in a meaningful NY6 game. Then this year we spent the entire time arguing if OSU or Bama should get the final shot while ignoring an undefeated UCF team. Well, they just beat an SEC team that has wins over two of the playoff teams and will go down as a great "what if" like Boise St. did years ago. Very disrespectful.

There is something going on at Michigan that is bad for them and good for Ohio State. As long as Harbaugh is at Michigan, OSU will continue to dominate them!

I agree, as a college coach he is overrated. He really wants to be in the NFL and will be back there soon.

Harbaugh is making strange decisions, like handing the ball off to a TE who promptly fumbles the ball.

Yes but their patients is wearing thin. They are tired of losing to OSU and MSU. If Harbaugh doesn't beat them next year and win the BTN next season, he will be on the hot seat.

I won't give any excuses. They lost to a better team, though I doubt USF would be undefeated if they played in the SEC or Big 10. That is probably why they were ranked lower than Auburn going in to the game.

I have said all year the SEC was down. The Big 10 played lights out this year....7-1 I think. Minu 23 late unanswered points, it could have been 8-0....that's awesome.

For years people wanted the gap between the SEC and other conferences to be closer, but the other conferences didn't do anything to narrow the gap.

This year they have. Next year if there is a toss-up between a SEC team and a Big 10 team to get in to the playoffs or a better bowl, the SEC isn't going to get the automatic nod as they have in past years.

I love college football. I watch all sorts of games and root for many different teams. The NFL, it's the Browns, and maybe a bandwago half butt root for the Titans or Falcons.
