It's early. We will pick up the defensive intensity as the game progresses.

hey we're gonna be 1-1, so it's not a big deal.

all that matters is the playoffs.

If Korver and JR would hit consistently from beyond the arc, we'd be back in this in maybe 8 possessions so long as we got some defensive stops on 3-4 of them.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM
my two cents...

One thing I have to say..........and it's a negative, which pisses me off because almost every post on the Cavs' threads have been negative. I hate adding to that mindset.

But.......if the Cavs don't make more of a commitment to play tough defensive ball, they won't beat GS. It's as simple as that.

They must turn up their defensive intensity in order to win the title. They will NOT win by jogging back in transition, not blocking out, denying the ball, pressuring the passer, etc.

It's not even the all star break, no one is playing tough defense yet. It's a marathon, not a sprint and we are beginning to work IT in. Rotations will change, assignments will change and switches will change. Right now it's all about finding our stride.

Too many missed shots.

After the first few minutes I felt like we were gonna get beat this game... Maybe so did the Cavs?

Time for bed.

I'm not too upset by this loss. Cavs couldn't make any open shots. Celtics were hitting everything (Theis was hitting 3s for crying out loud). Cavs on 2nd night of back to back. Looked lethargic and uninterested. Got zilch from Love. No IT. Just an off night.

The Celtics will never win anything when their 3rd and 4th best players are Jaylen Brown and Al Horford. Terry Rozier. Come on.

Now if they trade for Anthony Davis, they will probably be in the Finals. I'm disappointed I don't hear the Cavs being mentioned in trades for Davis.

Cavs do need to clean up a lot though. They just don't play with consistent intensity on defense. Their offense goes through huge moments of stagnation. Wade has been playing like crap. They work too hard to get Korver the ball. That needs to be more organic than forced. LeBron running the offense is not good. Commits a lot of turnovers. Too much ISO ball. They need to play smarter and harder.

Hopefully Love isn't lost for too long.

Davis would mess with our spacing way too much. Our best bet is either Boogie or Paul George. Personally, I'd like to try to keep the Nets pick at all costs.

No big deal about the loss tonight. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Second game of a back-to-back. The Cavs never really gave much effort from the get-go. This game was more important to the Celtics than the Cavs.

We got too many guys that just aren’t giving us enough. Crowder should not be starting, wade needs to be more consistent and Jose is showing why he was barely hanging in the nba last few years. But our biggest gap is defense and coaching. It’s simple as that. I really hope IT is that missing piece, but Boston is for real and if they get AD I don’t like our chances. Shump needs to hurry up and come back so we can trade him. Yeah maybe this game don’t mean much in the grand scheme but to not even look competitive against the team you’re vying for that finals spot against. I’d love to see what Stevens could do as he cavs coach. Can’t wait for Saturday

Boston is only for real if they get AD.

LeBron, Love, and IT are not losing to guys named Horford, Tatum, Brown, and Rozier in the playoffs.

This game literally will mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Besides, the Celtics couldn't miss and the Cavs couldn't make layups. That won't happen again.

But if AD is up for grabs, the Cavs need to be in on it. I would trade the pick and anyone not named LeBron or IT. I would hate to say goodbye to Love but I think LeBron, AD, and IT works better than LeBron, AD, and Love. This team needs a pg in the worst way. If Altman could pull it off without giving up Love or IT, build the guy a statue.

I think we need a SG and PF more than we do a PG, we have IT and drose should be back...but Crowder and JR do nothing for us. People scoff at boston but they are defensively 10000x better than us, thats going to be the difference. How much better defense can we play. And boston has the coaching advantage by far too..I'm not counting out Boston yet, they've beaten some good teams while we've lost to dregs. All will be revealed after the ASB i'm sure.. But I think we still have to make a couple moves not so much to get out of the east, but to beat the west. Houston and GS would be a quick series for us right now if all things considered. But Boston and toronto are good enough to surprise us in the playoffs I think

It would be nice for our shooting guard to average more than 7 points a game tho.

Yeah, JR has went downhill since he signed that last contract. Very disappointing.

We will need Wade to come up big in the playoffs. We will also need Korver to hit shots. I think both are capable of that.

yeah, JR is so inconsistent. Averaging 7 points when literally your position is supposed to score is not good...Not to mention he gets in attitude funks where you can just see he's taken himself out of games. Theres rumors we are looking at Lou Williams. But trading IT...not sure how that helps us, fills one hole while creating another, I think its more about efficiency.

no I don't, he's not good here..he's undersized where we are asking him to play and he struggles plain and simple..in a perfect world we'd have a decent 5 that would allow love to play the 4 and Jae can come of bench for lebron, which is what I envisioned. But 8pts and 3 reb a game...sorry not impressive. He gets destroyed against most PF, if he was playing the 3 he'd be much more like he was in boston. I'm optimistic once IT is back in the lineup he'll play better, but right now he's not good enough . We have 2 starters averaging more than 10 points a game.

You are a stat guy and that is fine. I understand how role players can help a team and I believe that Crowder is an asset to the team. We don't need numbers from everyone. We need contributors. That is something you have never understood.

Holy crap is that a terrible trade. Altman should face a firing squad if he does something like that. He may never get another job in the NBA if he does a trade like that. This team needs IT badly. I think PG is a huge need on this team. LeBron is too careless with the ball and it's too taxing. Kenny Smith just said the Cavs beat the Warriors with IT.

I don't think Crowder is himself. He lost his mother and I think that is affecting him greatly. We can only hope he can get out of his funk by the end of the year. He's been largely disappointing but we need him.

JR is trash. He gives the team absolutely nothing.

If Altman trades that pick for anyone not named Davis or Cousins I'm going to be super pissed off.

i understand it fine, but watching him has hurt this year, he doesn't make the most of his possessions and he hasn't been the defensive stalwart we've expected, I'm willing to give him more time because he's new and hopefully gets better and shows flashes now and then, but we should be getting much better production from our starting 5

yeah as soon as they mentioned IT in the trade I'm like, why in the hell would we do that...who's going to play PG? Calderon really looks done, it was great while it lasted, and Lebron is a great facilitator but HORRIBLE PG, when he handles the ball primarily in that role he has like a 1 to 1 assist to turnover

Cavs are so bad. They either don't play defense or they're not good at playing defense. No team in the league is afraid of playing the Cavs. They know they'll get minimum resistance.

Shorthanded Magic taking it to the Cavs.

Unless there is some type of major gelling that happens when IT gets back going, the Cavs have zero chance of winning it all.

They are going to have to make a trade. Lue doesn’t play very deeps so those need to be the best they can

They took away a Korver 3 like 5 minutes of game time after it happened.

So Love is the only guy on the team who tries on defense.

He's the best rebounder and the only chance of having the other team go one and done.

And Lue continues to take him out at the end of first halves.
