Uh huh. Like his support for private prisons is only a trigger too.

In typical Liberal fashion, you were given an inch (by the Feds looking the other way as States set weed laws contrary to Federal Law) and then you took a mile by declaring Sanctuary Cities and Sanctuary States in open revolt.

Time for the Feds to retake control.

You screwed it up.

one has nothing to do with the other.

but typical of a trump supporter to make everything relatable instead of debating things based on their own merits.

running the country like you run foreign policy. there's little hope for our future with people like you in charge.

Cons are the biggest hypocrites in the world. They preach "States Rights" when it can be used to discriminate against people. The moment that they don't like something a state does, they run to the Feds. They're a sad group.

In typical Liberal fashion they now respond with anger, lashing out at others when the fault lies within.

They won't hear it, they won't see it and they will never accept it. They screwed it up for themselves and await the next time they are given an inch.

Conservatives and Republicans understand you now.
This is why we were elected.
This is why we now run the show.

I support Trump but not on this. Sessions needs to spend his time on more important issues. You WILL see a revolt!

The feds need to have the SC rule in favor of the states so they save face and start to get their piece of the pie.

Cons, libs... they all act the same.
This bunch will overstep their bounds just like the libs before them. There will be a sea change again, because there always is.

My Pops was right: politics is a pendulum.
We've swung about as far right as possible. Snapback is gonna be a b!tch for you.

Me? Not so much. I live a lot closer to the center than you, so I won't get seasick.

Enjoy the ride.
It's gonna feel like Cedar Point for the likes of you.

It needs to go on the next National Ballot as a question...

Do you support the legalization of Marijuana for use and sale in the United States of America?

Allow We the People to decide the issue once and for all.

I agree with you on the part that both sides overstep their bounds just like the people before them.

The part where we disagree with is that we've swung about as far right as possible. Many of the most important institutions (e.g. media, academia) are still dominated by liberals. We're seeing some cracks though. It's just hard to know what the future will bring. The world is changing at such a fast rate that it becomes problematic to apply past trends to the future, if that makes any sense.

How about a big of haggling:

Swish gets legalized weed, we get a stricter immigration policy. Who says no?

Ahh yes, the electoral college of weed. I think it would be a landslide in favor.

Or we can just let the states decide. As they do now and give the middle class tax payers a break by not creating a national ballot which doesn't exist at all. notallthere

We already have an immigration policy that is not being followed.
Weed is already illegal.

I say enforce the laws already on the books.

If you want to place weed on a National Ballot, I am good with that. Let We the People make the call.

No, as a separate question on the ballot. The electoral college decides elections, the question is decided by the number of votes cast by We the People.

I hope that the US's priorities would put universal healthcare on the first ever "National Ballot" instead of a trivial issue like legalizing marijuana.

I like it. But Immigration policy seems like a lot more important issue than legalized weed. Maybe if you added the immediate release of all non-violent criminals, expunging their convictions, and giving them reparations upwards of 10k dollars, and the banning of private prisons. That's a lot more fair imo

A national ballot would be paid for by all middle class taxpayers nation wide and it can't be binding to all states. That's Unconstitutional, and no thanks. Let the states decide. Go away feds.

I thought I'd make an aggressive first offer. wink

In practice, I have to wonder if this approach would be more productive than the 'view each issue in isolation and argue back and forth about its merits' approach. From an academic standpoint that is all fine, but when it comes to actually compromising and negotiating policy, shouldn't other issues come into play as well?

It's clear that the 'sides' agree on little. However, the importance of issues can vary significantly. So for example, police/prison reform is something the two sides (overly simplified, I know) often disagree on, but its an issue that tends to be a lot more important to those on the left than it is on the right. So you match that up with something that is very important to a conservative, each side gets what is important to them and gives up something that isn't as important. This is the most basic and obvious form of negotiation, but unfortunately still far beyond the level of our Congress.

I'm good with enforcing the laws. Our problem is we have contradictory laws and the feds have previously suspended their enforcement of law. They can't just pick and choose either. Since it's been allowed, now that cat is out of the bag.

The best thing, since it's inevitable, is to allow states to decide marijuana for themselves, remove federal marijuana laws and the feds to just sit back and take their cut of the taxes.

What in God’s name would I do with 2 pounds a month of weed?

I can barely get through an ounce.

Good so when those laws are changed and cannabis is legal nationwide, you won't get mad when the Feds say individual states or localities can't ban cannabis from their neighborhoods.
