His odds of making it through 2018 alive are a lot better than still having a job week 6 of the season though. Not if I keep reading you and cfrs posts on the subject...

lol I'm actually not saying I want him gone. I'm saying he is gone. He did it to himself. Getting Sashi fired just set the ball in motion. The fans would have probably given him a pass for one more season if Sashi was still here. When he got Sashi fired he moved himself right up to the top of the scapegoat list.

The best case scenario is that Dorsey acquires players that are very good and Hue puts them into position to win a ton of games.
I know you will scoff at that, but I think it is very feasible.

Nothing to scoff at. I'm coming to grips that Hue, if not gone now, will likely get at least the full next season, and posters who think he's gone by week 6, if Ownership were willing to make a mid season coaching change they would have done it this year.
I want to see the Browns win! I just think if Hue is here, ... give him a dozen #1's overall, and any Vet group you want and his ceiling is still 4-12. (Here in Cleveland.) (Now, on another team, all bets are off, look at Josh McCown.)
That's best case. What I think is going to happen is the 2018 team will be fourth team to go winless since World War 2.
Edit: Hopefully I'm wrong, surprised, and they win and are at least relevant, in the mix, next year playoff time.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I really don't expect Hue to be here after 2018. It's a shame he's still here.

I know you will scoff at that, but I think it is very feasible. I think Hue can take a team that should win about 3 games a season, and instead win 0 or 1. He can take over a team that Tom Cable coached to 8-8 in the previous season, and likewise go 8-8. Following these trends, he can probably take a team that should be a 12+ win Super Bowl contender, and get in the playoffs with 9-10 wins as a wildcard.

No, he is still here. It's pretty damn clear that he will be here next year. But, that won't stop a handful of posters campaigning for his firing several times a day. Now, that's productive!

I've listened to Bengal fans call for Lewis to be fired in the middle of a five-year playoff run...I've listened to Steeler fans surmise that the Steelers need to consider moving on from Tomlin. There is a big expose' coming out today about dysfunction in NE - NE of all places...I'd like some of THAT dysfunction.
I think that bashing a 1-31 HC is warranted...it's certainly unproductive...but it's far from unreasonable.

I know Hue will be back. And campaigning for his firing is about as productive as posting in any other thread.
Hue went 1-31. You are what your record says you are. I know the team is not very good but a better coach could have won 5 games in that span, at least. Chris Palmer did it with the bare 99-00 expansion Browns.
This is the typical mismanaged Browns. We are bringing back a coach who is ONE AND THIRTY-ONE. The one time we actually should fire a coach, we bring him back.

I am not saying that Hue shouldn't be discussed. I am saying that there are a handful of posters campaigning for him to be fired and that they are doing it several times DAILY!
He's going to be our HC next season. He isn't going to be "gone" this off-season.

I believe one of the articles mentioned that Belichick didn’t want to trade Garapolo and was forced, he liked Garapolo so much didn’t want him to end up in Cleveland, which is why he’s in San Fran. Just summing up more or less what the article said. None of us really know anything about it as far as it being truth.

May I ask how the news coming out of NE absolves Sashi? I think only in your eyes does Sashi need absolution on the Garrappolo affair, since its not hard to realize that Garrappolo would never play for the Browns. But the whole affair validates the point on the Garrappolo trade not being planned, so no way would Sashi know that he would be available....

He's going to be our HC next season. He isn't going to be "gone" this off-season. I understand the frustration...it is what it is...but there are also people being critical who aren't clamoring for him to be fired or - in my case - are being critical and no longer talking about firing him because it appears he WILL be here in 2018. It's unproductive...then again, so is the time I spend on the net reading about the Browns. It's no different than the continued Sashi bashing. It's equally unproductive and mute at this point...possibly even more irrelevant than Hue-bashing because Sashi is gone. But it's still a thing. I'm going to do my part and focus on going forward. I'll likely have failings along the way, but I'm going to try not to add to my existing Browns-fan misery.

I think its rather simple, Winning is the cure all.
Dorsey is going to WIN now with his actions as GM. That means a veteran QB as we train the New QB...Also FA expenditures to shore up the team along with the 5 impact picks, 4 in the top 35 Plus the progress of a lot of good young players entering year 2 and 3!
Simple part...if we win Hue stays if we lose Hue will be gone.
Win is probably 8-8 on up...lose is probably 5-11 on down. 6,7 wins is up in the air.
So what is the worst that will happen.
We fire Hue have a franchise QB and then go and hire Bill Belicheck as he and the Pats part ways...lol

But we know we are not going to Win... so what's the point on delaying the decision? 2 seasons and we have no evidence that our Football guys aren't anything less than mediocre, and people are placing the future of the team in their hands... Makes absolutely no sense. Fire Hue and the coaching staff, bring in some guys before the draft, and start a new regime with the players we have. We have leverage now with the draft picks to hire a coach, after we chose, and if they are bad, nobody in his sane mind will com here. There is no possible scenario that we win keeping Hue... NONE.. Unless you think that we will start the next season winning... but that will be a testament of the good drafting from Sashi... and I think nobody in his mind thinks it will be possible...

I'm glad you can see into the future. Do we assume we are going to lose because we are the Browns???
So just give up that statement was just silly.
We don't know jack. Actually football logic has us becoming a winning team if we DO THIS RIGHT. First and foremost get a QB! Use mega cap space to fill in holes as well as many impact draft picks (5). that can become starters.
We suffered two terrible seasons mostly cause we played without a viable QB and had so, so many young players that were our talented ones. Progress has them all becoming better and actually veterans in our system.
But you know already we are going to lose and in your wisdom I guess you are inferring that its because of HUE and with him here we have no shot. Silly prognosis but then its just me I guess...lol Oh wait and John Dorsey.

There are a number of football teams with good QB's that don't win.. There are a large number of average football teams with average QB's that are competitive. There even are football teams with bad QB's that win it all. We had 2 bad football seasons because we had the worst coach on Browns history and possibly the worst coach on NFL history. You are lying to yourself if you think the problem on a 1-31 team is the QB. Maybe you don't go to the Super Bowl without an elite QB, but be to be competitive.... And Hue had more than 10 QB's in 2 seasons + all the QB's he could have signed in FA and he couldn't even find one better than Kizer? It wasn't Kizer nor Sashi that kept on calling 2/3 of pass plays, nor insisted on playing Peppers.... Just the fact that you have to excuse his actions should tell you that you are wrong... the moment you use excuses to justify your failures is the moment you are a perennial loser.

Winning won't happen until the Brows on Sunday have a better roster better talent and better execution than the other team across the ball For 32 straight weeks they've been the been the lesser team .I will.say it now ..the Browns Will win 3 games in 2018. John Dorsey has never had the expel a culture out of a football team as bad as bad as the Browns His job as GM in KC will look like a cup stacking contest compared to to his project in Cleveland

Really? I haven't seen anything close to bashing Sashi in some time. I have made comments about Sashi but not bashing him. I've only tried to look at the results of what has transpired and make a little sense out of it. Let me go over what I've said and you tell me where this is bashing anyone. Both Hue and Sashi report directly to Haslam. As such, Haslam knows what each man wanted to do in regards to the draft, players and roster moves on this team. And from knowing this, he determined that it was Sashi who needed to go and the he felt Sashi was the problem. Now I don't see that as bashing anyone. You are right that Sashi was bashed earlier on. Posters vented and then let it go. I don't believe that is or will be the case with Hue. Many of those screaming for Hue to be fired are the exact same people who upheld every move Sashi made. Lines in the sand have been drawn and they won't let it go. You just watch and see. BTW- It's moot, not mute.

You are lying to yourself if you think the problem on a 1-31 team is the QB.
Why cause you say so. We must think your way. I know your football is well cave man mentality...
Ooo team win 1 HC must be bad...Not QB...
yeah otay Sherlock.
In this day and age you need the QB: Pats: Brady, Steelers: Big Ben Eagles: Wentz (one n done without him) Viking: Case Keenum great season. Titans: Mariota Chiefs: Smith Bills: Tyrod...maybe average Jags: Bortles career season for him. Falcons: Ryan Rams: Goff Panthers: Newton Saints: Brees.
Do you see anyone as raw and underdeveloped than Kizer in that mix? Anywhere.
Don't you understand how important the QB room is.
With Kizer, Kessler and Hogan...that was a joke...hmmm coincidence so was our TEAM?
Dorsey came in and said, in insulting way, that he was going to get us REAL TALENT TO WIN. Not that our guys here are bad just there was no TEAM that was being built. A door here a Window there and some Green Lumber not seasoned wood.
Do I think we should have one a game or two...of course I do. I think there were about 6 games that we could have one. But most we didn't because of the QB. And when it was not on his head there were just dumb things that happened.
Green Bay Game. With little time left and we got the lead GB needs a TD to tie. We punt the ball and they return it 65 yards and then eventually scores as time run down to zero. So that was Hue's fault, I guess according to you we should have gone for it on 4th down instead of punting it to the 10!
edromero is putting up a lot of film clips of games. We had plays we didn't have execution. We have open WRs we don't have the acknowledgment of them. We had not only an inexperienced rookie QB but possibly the worst I've seen with his natural accuracy.
But your mind is obviously made up. And no way you can be wrong cause your football is far superior than ours so we must be stupid not seeing what you see.
Sorry I ain't buying. Continuity is far far more important to the team at this stage. We stripped it to the bone and we are getting to year 3 where we can see some light at the end of the tunnel and in your wisdom its well...BLOW THIS UP cause its inevitable.
Really?

Shanahan couldn't win squat until he signed Jimmy G. We were running neck and neck with San Fran for the #1 pick. Jimmy G. was signed and they haven't lost a game since. Funny how that works isn't it?

Well didn't you get the memo Tab?
Hue was secretly suiting up in uniform and making all those red zone interceptions. It was him that failed to execute the plays and created all the turnovers that made us first in the league in negative turnovers.

I don’t necessarily think winning comes from having the more talented roster on the field that given Sunday, it comes more so from superior coaching. Otherwise the most talented teams would have the best record. IMO the patriots do not have the most talented roster yet are always in the mix for a Super Bowl. They have talent just not the most talent. This isn’t college where Alabama, Clemson, are easily more talented then most of their foes and beat up on them.

I wonder if Sashi was still GM how.many would be proclaiming how much more improved the Browns would be in 2018? He had quite of few supporters around here I have never been a Sashi supporter,I think he took the wrong approach to players talent, and that he took a very high risk when he decided to scrap the whole work of the previous FO. I think organizations move forward upgrading and not re-building. But in some sense I understood the need to start fresh, mainly because of the attitude of the team. The moment he started not owning up to his mistakes and making excuses for the lack of performance was the moment I became a critic. But, one thing we have to give him credit, he was a very competent General Manager. Only a competent GM could buy this much time for such an incompetent Coaching staff. He always owned the hard decisions and stood by his coach. In the end this was his main fault, he should have fired Hue last season, and demand accountability. The fact he got fired and remained quiet, after all the insults, is a testament to his integrity, so Kudos to Sashi for taking the high road. I have no doubts that in the end we ended up with the worst professionals winning the power struggle, because with all the faults Sashi has, on a pure management side, most of the decisions were the right ones, the problem were the football decisions. And guess what, we ended up firing the management guys and kept the football ones. But I have no doubts, both deserved to be fired, thrown into the lake covered in feathers and tar...

You do realize that you're trying to compare Hue to Bill Belichick, right?
I'm sure fans of about 25 other teams could make that same argument.

Cleveland Browns rumors: Patriots weary of Browns trade tactics
by Nick Dudukovich1 month ago link
In Browns rumors, the Patriots didn’t even consider trading Jimmy Garoppolo to Cleveland because Bill Belichick didn’t want to haggle with the Browns.
Why weren’t the Cleveland Browns in on acquiring Jimmy Garoppolo before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline?
If you listen to ESPN’s Adam Schefter talk, you’ll understand why.
Apparently, nothing ever comes easy when dealing with the Browns front office, led by executive vice president of football operations, Sashi Brown.
Schefter said on ESPN Cleveland’s Really Big Show, that the 49ers and Patriots started talking about trade for Jimmy G on Monday morning.
Cleveland had tried for months to pry Garoppolo away from the Pats, but as Schefter reported, New England wasn’t interested in moving their 2014 second-round pick.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick thought he could get Garoppolo signed last spring, and into the summer. It didn’t happen, and The Hooded One went into trade deadline day with a quarterback who was going to walk at the end of the year unless the Patriots threw a bunch of money at him.
Tom Brady is still Tom Brady, and it’s not exactly “The Patriot Way” to throw a bunch of a cash at a backup quarterback.
Belichick and the 49ers consummated talks Monday morning, and the deal got done before the end of the day.
So, why not the Browns? After all, Cleveland had made overtures to the Patriots for months.
Long story short, the Patriots are weary of dealing with the Browns, via TheLandonDemand (9:00, subscription required).
“Even when they were doing the Jamie Collins deal. It’s an example of how things have worked with the Browns…deals get complex for whatever reasons. The Jamie Collins talks went on for a couple weeks. Teams can make moves in five minutes. Nothing ever seems easy when it comes to deal with Browns,” Schefter said.
The big knock on the Browns is that the front office tries to “win the deal” in every transaction.
Just look at what happened to Terrelle Pryor. The Browns won the deal, and lost the player, replacing TP with Kenny Britt. Both players have tanked this season, but wouldn’t you at least have Pryor, who guy who showed that he’s hungry and cares about winning?
The Patriots operate with a different philosophy, according to Schefter.
“Their mentality isn’t to win the deal, it’s to do what’s right for their team…that means trading Jimmy G out of out conference, to an organization they like and trust. I think it just got going in that direction. They felt the value was fair…”
When it comes to the inner workings of the NFL, Schefter is the gold standard of reporting, and quite frankly, it’s so deflating to see him report this.
The Patriots didn’t even give the Browns a chance because they didn’t want to play the haggling game with Sasshi and the gang.
Now, the 49ers have their quarterback of the future and Cleveland fans are left wondering if DeShone Kizer will emerge as player to build around, or if their downtrodden team will be looking for another quarterback come draft day.
The failure to get Garoppolo, and the disorganization surrounding the botching of the A.J. McCarron trade made for the worst week in Browns’ front office history. And Schefter’s words just make it worse.
FOOTBALL IS NOT BASEBALL

We now know that BB called Kyle and asked him to make the trade after being told by the owner, so stop with all this non-sense.

I agree you need a QB, Kizer is currently not that QB. But I’ll pose this question, why was the execution so bad for us? Is that totally on the player? The QB? Or does the coaching staff deserve some culpability in it also? I just have a hard time believing that constant problems with execution is totally on the players.
I’m not really trying to argue with you just posing a question.

Probably but those teams didn’t go 0-16, and some of them decided to replace thief coaches.
And I wasn’t comparing anyone to anyone, just saying that it isn’t always the most talented teams that win on Sunday. I wasn’t even thinking of it in terms of the Browns, really.

I remember this statement when the article came out almost one year ago and I still never understood it. So what if trade talks take longer than five minutes?...A week? Two? In fact, outside of day-off draft deals, anything consummated in five minutes would have me alarmed. It would lead to desperation, lack of thoroughness, preparation, etc. You know...kinda like the AJ McCarron deal.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
