U figure out who those teams are and get back to me ...
Us, SF (before JG), Giants, Denver, Jets, Tampa maybe, Miami, Arizona.
Edit-- Thought this was about another comment I made regarding teams and Qbs. My mistake. Remove Browns, Giants, Denver, Miami. I think a team later in the draft that may not have access to a higher regarded QB could take a shot at him. I'm not saying I think he is a franchise QB or that a team should pursue this option but AJ probably thinks he is he wants that opportunity to prove himself. I don't think that will work out for him in the end.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
If I'm AJ McCarron....I'm fighting my FA status because I want to go to a team where I'm in a situation to become the long-term starter. Not to be a short-term starter or go back to a similar situation in Cincinnati. I don't know who those teams are, but I don't think it's here in Cleveland. Especially with having the #1 pick and it most assuredly going to a QB....a perceived QB of the future.
You want them all to think of being a starter. The smart QBs want to be, but understand the role of back-up. They also understand that being a NFL back-up QB is a pretty good gig.
If i was AJ, I's sign with the Browns knowing I was probably going to be the back-up. I'd push for a 5 year deal, not 4 and a higher guaranteed amount as insurance against getting cut sooner. I'd tell the Browns I'd be willing to be your back-up for the next 12 years if I am not deemed best on the team..for the record, I liked AJ...I think he can be a pretty good starter or a top back-up. Lock him up, cut Kessler and Hogan.
Rozen, AJ, and Kizer. Good QB room.

So then we would start next season with AJ, the rookie, then Kizer. The year after that, the order would be: the rookie, Kizer, AJ (IMO). Doesn't work for our scenario, 'peen.

I think AJ is better than Kizer. So it would work in that scenario.
I don't dispute that at the current time, 'peen, but IMO AJ has likely hit his ceiling while Kizer should improve much further than this past season...

How has someone who hasn’t played hit his ceiling?
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
I agree with U in theory ... it prolly won’t end well for him here ... we best take a qb at 1 ... and who knows how much if any Kizer will improve this off season ... IMO its not going to end well for him anywhere .... there maybe other spots where he has a better shot of lasting the entire first year ... but who know ... he could get Mike Glennoned ... ...
He knows Hues offense ... that’s VERY VERY GOOD for him ... he won’t need to learn a new one .... thats a big X in our favor .... he only has to beat out a rookie and possibly the most innacurate qb in the league last year who has zero wins ....
He’s going to be challenged wherever he goes ... Hue obviously thins a lot of him ... the trade was silly and out of frustration for a few wins but it also showed what Hue thinks of AJ ....
I hope he wins his FA and ends up here ...
Denver and J-Vil will be destinations for people like Cousins and whoever leaves Miini and possibly Eli .... those teams are looking for a level up from AJ ... but U never know ... one of them may decide AJ’s better than a rookie this year where there drafting ...
I do agree with U in theory ... I just don’t see AJ as a long term starter so its not going to end well for him anywhere ... he may as well go try in a system he all ready knows and a coach that knows and obviously likes him ...
We should have a pretty good idea of who we are drafting at qb because FA occurs before the draft. If we sign a higher profile guy like McCarron or trade for Smith, we will probably take Darnold.
If we don't sign a FA qb or sign someone like Matt Moore, we will probably draft Rosen.

I'm really hoping for the latter.
I don't know about that. Even if we take Rosen, we could still take AJ.

Are there any other guys that Dorsey could trade for that could serve as thats bridge QB? I’m drawing a blank as to who would fit the criteria.
j/c
I won't allow myself to even consider Cousins - even though I'd love to have him. Washington will tag him again unless they get a guy like Alex Smith...in that case, Cousins will have many, many choices and I don't think he'd come here at this point in his career.
I don't let myself think about Alex Smith because I just don't see his style being the downfield style that Hue seems to prefer. I noticed AS was better at that this year, but still...I just don't see it.
If AJ is unrestricted, I expect we try to get him...even though I am as unsure about him as can be.
I'd take Keenum or Bridgewater (even tho I'm not at all high on Teddy) but I expect MN to keep them both.
Matt Moore? Chase Daniel? Nick Foles? Sure...why not? But I think the guy will be Tyrod Taylor...a "placeholder" type guy who got his team in the playoffs. He's not great and he's not bad...and he's a free agent...he's the perfect guy for Mayfiled to sit behind until he's ready. (See what I did there?)
did yall see this kid? this is all the throws, incompletions, drops, int, completions, runs.
man, i see why yall think alex smith might be available. depending on how they do in the playoffs, Andy reid has got to be licking his chops over what mahomes can do.

If we get a vet FA , and draft Rosen, is Kizer done in cleveland?
I really wouldn't think so. I mean he has much better raw talent than Hogan or Kessler. He's on a cheap contract having been drafted at #52. There's no reason that he can't develop. How much and how long that may take are anyone's guess though.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
The Kansas City Chiefs will take the field today with quarterback Alex Smith under center -- one of the game's most underrated players despite holding the league's top quarterback rating.
And yet, the Chiefs are open to trading Smith this offseason, sources say, thanks in part to one of the most fervent quarterback markets in recent memory.
Kansas City won't actively seek out trade partners, but they will listen. There is a real chance Smith, who's set to make $17 million next season, will be dealt for the second time in his career.
There is a caveat. If Smith leads the Chiefs to Super Bowl LII, that might cause all sides to pull back. Regardless, the Chiefs are thrilled with everything they have seen from 2017 first-round draft pick Patrick Mahomes II.
Mahomes is the heir apparent and the reason the team believes it can make a smooth transition from Smith. The rookie's play during Week 17 impressed team brass, going 22-of-35 for 284 yards with an interception in his first game.
When Smith was traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Chiefs in 2013, it wound up being for a price of two second-round picks. Smith could fetch more this time -- in part because of his recent success.
In addition, there are more than a handful of teams who will need quarterbacks. If Kirk Cousins somehow sticks with the Washington Redskins, Smith would be the top signal-caller available. Among those who could be interested: New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals inquired about Smith when the Niners traded him, sources say, and the Broncos are already considering it. Browns general manager John Dorsey's first move when he took over in Kansas City was to trade for Smith. Could history repeat itself?
Either way, expect Smith to be in the spotlight this offseason, just like he will be in the playoffs.

That's a very hard question to answer. On one hand He is much older and doesn't have a long career ahead of him. On the other hand he's a proven QB now that everyone can see.
I'm beginning to see your POV that McCarron would be a more likely scenario. You're not going to give up the farm for a bridge QB and the market will be high for Smiths services.
There are some teams that feel they're built to win now and that the QB is the last piece. To them a QB like Smith I believe would hold a lot more value in their situation than the situation we are currently in.

Alex Smith is underrated. Dude had a QB rating of 104.7 this year, which was the best in the NFL. For some perspective, Kizer's was 60.5, which was 32nd.
Smith threw 26 TDs and had only 5 picks.
People say he doesn't throw it downfield, but I don't think that is true. He was 5th in the league at net yards per pass attempt.
He is also an outstanding runner and a very good athlete.
It is a hard question ... its why i asked ... u know I ain’t very smart, I can’t spell and my grammars worse ... so according to Swish and his ilk I must be a MORON ....

What's that worth?
Yeah. What IS that worth?
Considering we're going to have either Rosen or Darnold this year. And we Will Not Sit either for long.
So how much you wanna give for a guy who's going to play 5 games MAX?
Me? I give NOTHING. Don't want him. Don't need him.
So whats your answer? ... what would u give up for him ... it sounds to me its less than two 2nd rounders ...
The other consideration is that he only has 1 year remaining on his contract and that is quite the hefty contract.
I am not good at judging value either. Guys I would give a 2nd for get traded for a 5th while other guys that I wouldn't trade a 5th for get traded for a 2 and a 5. Having said that I would trade the Eagles pick in the 2nd round and consider sweetening the pot with a late round pick. I would also plan on him being our starter for the full season (or until he gets hurt).
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no
If Hue is back, The Browns should find 2 Vet Qb's, roll with Kizer, and avoid selecting a Qb with any of their first 7 selections in this year's draft. They only have 7 picks in the top 114 ish anyway, the rest shouldn't matter.
It is a hard question ... its why i asked ... u know I ain’t very smart, I can’t spell and my grammars worse ... so according to Swish and his ilk I must be a MORON ....
Well you're spelling does suck. lol But I've known you for a very long time and stupid isn't in any way how I would describe you. You just say things to stir the pot a lot just like I do and in response people look for a way to lash out.
Smiths actual value across the NFL is probably more than I would pay for him. I view him a lot like Vers does in that he's a top tier NFL QB. That's going to command a lot. That's why I wanted us to get him when Kansas City made the deal for him. At that time I would have given up the kitchen sink and then some for him.
The knock was that he was a WCO system QB. That he couldn't do anything else but dink and dunk. I didn't believe it then and he's proven that assertion to be false.
So there's a difference in what I think he's worth and what I would give up for him to sign for the Browns.
So let me put this in two scenarios because each changes what I would pay for Smith.
1. If I'm looking for a five year starter and I'm not going to draft a QB high in this draft, I'd give up the #4 and a second round pick for him. Looking at him as a long term starter certainly increases his value to me in this scenario.
2. If I'm looking for a bridge QB to only start for a year or two at best, I'm looking at a second rounder and a third rounder at best. Maybe two second rounders if you twisted my arm.
To me, the direction in which you're headed has a lot in determing his value to your team.

I would be willing to swap Philly's 2nd and a 4th for him .... though that might not do it. I would be willing to also add a future 3rd to the package, if that would make the deal. Dorsey should have an idea of what it would take to obtain Smith. I really don't want to give up any of our top 35 picks.

So whats your answer? ... what would u give up for him ... it sounds to me its less than two 2nd rounders ...
I would offer them a 2nd and 4th ... and I never said he was over the hill just a little older

Roll with Kizer.....great. Only 7 picks...is that all?
You have 3 second round picks; offer the 2nd or 3rd of them and a later round pick either from this year or next.
I'd have no problem with this for Smith and still take Rosen or Darnold at #1.
You could start winning in the short-term with the long-term secured.
We reportedly offered a 2nd and 3rd round pick for a backup; AJ McCarron. I hope whoever offered that won't be involved in any trade talks with KC. If Sashi Brown purposely botched that deal, we owe him a debt of gratitude, IMO.
The way Smith is carving up the Titans, I'd spend millions on him......he could be great for six or more years....GO Browns, and his knock is long ball and Hill dropped a perfect pass on first play of game....I want him....GO Browns!!!!

The more I watch this Chiefs' game, the more I realize they are not trading him.
I’m smarter than they think ... i’ve never denied i can’t spell ... ...
So thats what we’d give up for him ...
Now we have to consider what he’s worth to Jax or Denver or the Bills or a few other teams ...
We need to see how Cousins shakes out ... he’s gone .... no way can they tag him .. its 34 mill ... they don’t have the cap space and even if they did .. no way would they commit that to him .. .
Once that domino falls ... then as 101 pointed out ... will they trade Smith? ... thats not a done deal ... there built to win today .. and i don’t see how Mahomes gives them a better shot at winning next year .... but u never know .. this reminds me of JG in a way last year ... everyone thought he was gone ... i was *L* at by almost every poster the first time i said he may very well stay at NE .... this isn’t the NO BRAINER most think it is ...
If they do get rid of him ... it will be EXPENSIVE!!!!
