Well have to watch and see, but that brings up the question, is Hue getting us these wins or is it a much improved roster? Regardless if they win it will be hard to get rid of the coach.

Neither here nor there....but sometimes coaches with winning records still get fired in the crazy sometimes illogical world of the NFL

If Rosen's record is 17-13, why didn't he win more.

I love Mayfield but there is no reason to take him with the #1 pick...the NFL is very snobbish on QB height. Brees dropped to #33, Rodgers dropped to #22 this all because of height.

Manziel was the first QB taken in the first round that was under 6 feet in the history of the NFL...No need to use a #1 pick on Mayfield.

Part of the package with him is you get to get a treasure chest or something very good for dropping to #2 or like that 3 First round pick deal from another team with the intentions of taking Mayfield at #4.

If we love Rosen...no trade (Sashi aint here anymore) we take him. If we love Darnold...no trade, we take him.

If we love Mayfield we can trade back get some ammo and take him at #4.

jmho...anyway we go, I love all 3!

We will have to agree to disagree on Mayfield. I see him as a combo of Colt McCoy, Jeff Garcia, and Johnny Football. He doesn't have the footwork to slide into a starter in week 1. He also hasn't worked much under center. While he may turn out to be Brees 2.0, he needs time to get there, in my opinion.

In my opinion, Darnold and Rosen, and Kiser last year for that matter, remind me too much of just another carbon copy of the next Colt McCoy, or Brady Quinn, mold.

I was wrong about Kiser.

Alex Smith is staring down his receivers and not making post snap reads, he will never make it in the NFL. poke

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Stats do not matter when you're evaluating QB's. If wins mattered Tebow would be a HOFer.

If passing stats mattered, Landry Jones, Graham Harreel and Timmy Chang would be studs.

It's strictly about projection college to pro. Stats do not matter.

And he's in the play offs this year. Just threw a nice TD pass too.

WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM

Incorrect, but projection is a large part of it.

Cal's record improved during Goff's tenure. If team gets worse ala kizer and Notre dame I think it's necessary to take a look why.

Hey Groza! How are doing? I hope you are feeling better. I'll try and answer your question.

There are people on this board who like Rosen. There are others who like Mayfield.

I like Rosen because he is the most accurate. Has the best mechanics. Has the best arm. Quickest release. He has also played in a pro-style offense and you can see him go through progressions and reading coverages.

Darnold is a very good prospect and quite a few people have him rated higher than Rosen. I think he has a lot of upside. I think he turns the ball over too much and that his mechanics break down when he is pressured. He also has a long windup. He will need some time to develop. However, I still like him as a prospect. Just not as much as Rosen.

Mayfield is an even bigger project. He hasn't asked to take 3, 5, and 7-step drops. His lower body mechanics remind me of a baseball player. He hasn't thrown into tight windows. He is very short. He isn't very fast. He leaves the pocket too early. He has character concerns. I don't think he compares to Rosen and Darnold.

It's all opinion. That's mine.

With my limited knowledge, film watching and understanding of the position, I like Rosen, notwithstanding the injuries.

I don't think we can go wrong with either Darnold or Rosen. I personally hope we get Smith in as a bridge for a year, maybe even 2. That would aid the development of anyone in the QB room - Smith is very under-rated and wasn't why KC lost last night.

I also like Allen as a developmental project and there's also some talk about the NC State QB who's name escapes me. I also think Lamar Jackson would be great in the correct system but I don't think he fits what Hue wants (although Hue fell in love with RG3, so who knows?).

Ryan Finley - NC State. I think he will be the 5th best QB selected in this year's draft. Better than Lamar and Rudolph in my opinion.

Darnold
Rosen
Allen
Mayfield
Finley
Rudolph
Jackson - WR

I'm certainly going to be a Rosen pimp this year for all of the reasons Vers described above.

I love the idea of having Alex Smith here, but I have to consider something. If I'm Smith, I'm 33 years old. I believe with my production, I have at least have another 4 year, high dollar contract left in my career.

Now why would I EVER sign a contract that only makes me the starter for one year? Why would I want to be a mentor instead of the answer?

My concern is that we end up giving away draft picks to a QB we would have to franchise tag to a huge contract a year from now because he wants to be a starter somewhere else.

I love the security of an Alex Smith. But with only one year left on his contract, giving up the price it may take to get him here may not be the road to travel.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I remember last year when people said Watson should change positions.

Y’all about to miss the boat on Mayfield and Jackson simply because they don’t look the part.

That's EXACTLY why I DON'T want Smith here.

There is absolutely NO WAY we are going to SIT the #1 pick for an entire year. Let alone 2 years.

Smith sees the situation. Everyone with a PULSE knows we're going QB at #1.

Save the picks. Look elsewhere.

And if we're STUPID enough to get Smith and NOT take one of these 2 QB'S, both of which are some of the BEST to come out in years, then we deserve everything we get when Smith is done in 3 years. Or injured before then.

Yes.

I was just reading about the 2014 draft and how Bortles wasn't even on the radar at this point in the stage. Maybe for obvious reasons... I think I saw most were high on Manziel, Bridgewater, and Mariota before he decided to stay on school.

Ironically, Gruden wanted the Raiders to draft Manziel in the first round.

Anyway, a lot can happen between now and the draft.

I'm not as high on Jackson as you but he does seem to possess that Watson quality where he could play well early while everyone is still trying to figure him out.

I think there's going to be a lot of movement among all the quarterbacks between now and then.

And one says he does not want to play for the Browns and the other has ball security issues. Don't be surprised if the Browns sign a vet QB and take Barkley at 1.

An announcer during the half time of one of the the wild card games said the top 2 qbs this year, He was referring to Rosen and darnold. Are not as good as the top 3 of last year. Do you think this guy was on drugs?

It was Mike Florio. He also said something like the Browns will find a way to mess it up no matter who they take. Here is a link w/a video. Just remember that Florio is clueless.

Rosen is easily better than all 3 of Trubisky, Watson, and Mahomes. Trubisky and Mahomes by a mile.

Florio, much like lacanfora, loves to diss the Browns. It's just what they do. Right, wrong, or indifferent it's a part of their schtick. You have to take everything they say with a grain of salt.

Yea, even though they’ve been right about the team more often than not.

As if we have a rich history on hitting on our draft picks. What alternate reality are you living in?

Florio is a Bozo for sure.

The cast is set I think although there is a lot to transpire from now till the draft.

Overall pick #1 probably will be Rosen. Whether we end up trading back one space due to Rosen's insisting that he plays with the Giants ala Eli Manning in 04. If that is the case probably Darnold at #2.

If we don't take Darnold then it is obvious that we are targeting Mayfield at #4.

This is a pretty strong draft class. I'm curious who we go for in FA and how we finish the Defense.

Dorsey has come to us in probably the most important time of our History. If successful we got our Dynasty finally. If he fails we will be stuck in mediocrity and destined to make another blow up.

I am hoping he listens closely to Hue who btw from what I hear is very high on Rosen, Dorsey is said to be high on Mayfield. All I know it appears Hue wanted Wentz and we got Bogus again why Sashi was let go.

jmho

i'm already prepared that Rosen is our #1 pick.

the bigger question is where do we go with the #4.

there's a chance Crow *could* stay, and with that, most likely enforces the clear evidence that Dorsey doesn't draft RB's high, so we will be looking at that position come round 3.

but if Crow walks....hey, there's a first time for everything, and Barkley is THAT dynamic that rosey could easily make an exception to his general rule.

either way, it's more likely that we either trade back from 4, or draft Fitz there, seeing as FS was beyond a glaring weakness on our defense.

all i got to say is that Rosen better be the truth. cause if Mayfield and Jackson end up having better careers, i'm going to not only look at our FO and Hue, but at posters on this board who swear up and down they know how to evaluate QB's.

I'd value them about the same. Before the season I thought Darnold was going to be that "once in a decade" type prospect.

This draft is deeper at QB, but the top is about the same.

Dorsey has never drafted a running back in the first two rounds. I doubt this year is the year he'll break that tradition. With all the running backs coming out, I wouldn't be surprised, if he isn't more sure than that the good move would be to draft a rb in the 3rd or lower.

We also don't know how the organization values Duke. IMO he's a 3 down back who can do it all. I am not opposed though to getting a bigger back in the draft, who can compliment Duke's skills well. Like Crowell did. However, this would also mean that we're being smart in our running game. If we continue to see the the run called from heavy formations then it doesn't matter who we draft. You cannot run the ball in the NFL with 2 TE's and a fullback. You can throw the ball in those formations, because no team will give you that easy run. We have to be running the ball out of shotgun a lot more and a bigger back like Rashaad Penny, Royce Freeman, or Josh Adams who are harder to take down when they're running down hill.

Say what you want, but Dorey is sink or swim and he can shine given the assets he has, or he can continue the pattern of failing at selecting people/using the assets.

He can easily go sky high or below ground, all in one draft. A very, very important draft. Two of the most horrid seasons back to back, it's so important.

I know Parcells recommended Dorsey to the Browns. If the two are close in some regard or exchange ideas/philosophies, I wonder if Dorsey abides by Parcells' philosophy on drafting quarterbacks. If he does, the only two that fit Parcells philosophy are Mayfield and Rudolph.
