Probably both. He would immediately be the best CB on our team if we added him. He could also be a tremendous FS. I suspect he'll mainly play FS, but could be asked to cover someone's #1 WR.

And THAT my fellow Dawg is a DEFENSIVE WEAPON.

I don't want to keep debating which guy we should take because people get set in their opinions.

However, I would like to answer your question. I think he would mostly line up at FS. I think his instincts would make a tremendous difference for us there. I can also see us having the ability go to Cover 1 and Fitz would be lining up like a corner. I also see him blitzing. He actually over powered an OT from Tenn this past year. I can also see him covering very good TEs at times, which would reduce some of the pressure from our linebackers. We have seen that neither Kindred or Peppers are very good in coverage.

Thus, I think he gives us a ton of flexibility and he would be an impact player for us. The only real negative I see is that he sometimes takes bad angles. That could be an issue at FS. I do think that can be coached up especially because he doesn't do it a lot.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

Williams has got to be salivating at the thought of Minkah-Fitzpatrick and Peppers at Safety. That's an INSANE combo.

You bring Peppers closer to the LOS with Fitzpatrick and his versatility and you've just created an option to where you DON'T need to have a LB dropping or trying to cover a TE.

Keeping Williams here for year 2 is crucial. With Wilson coming back we need to target a TOP FA CB. We do that and I'm not so sure we need to go after that Corner at 33 or 35. Still want another one, but we could potentially look at a highly rated DT that fell out of Round One and the RB.

Options GALORE. And you can THANK Sashi and Watson's injury for it.

And people actually wonder WHY quality like Dorsey, Wolf and Highsmith would consider coming here. It's because they SEE what's going on. They see how close we are.

This is HEAVEN on EARTH.

And there's TWO bonafide STUDS at QB staring us in the face.

I watch tape of Minka and I see a freaking stud a cross between Xavier Rhodes and Jamal Adams.

I can't decide...Lol like our opinions matter.

I guess Minka's combine is going to factor into my decision. If his movement skills, 3 cone, shuttle and explosion numbers are top tier CB numbers then I'll prolly take Minka.

That's high praise from the Bama crowd.

Lets just hope we come away with our Franchise QB and one of them - If we decide to go for Cousins in FA then lets hope we come away with Cousins and then both of them.

I don't think there is a right or wrong in this scenario...lets face it we are sitting in the DRIVERS SEAT for once and we got somebody who knows how to drive wink

Its good to be a Browns fan now that the season is over.

I think it is. Teams don't run the ball as much, meaning Jim Brown is less useful, and teams pass the ball a lot more, making Minkah Fitzpatrick more valuable.

The best running backs don't affect the games as much as they used to, therefore I would take Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Everytime I read this I get GIDDY over the thought of him on our team .... GIDDY as hell!!!!

@JReidDraftScout ..... 3m3 minutes ago

#DraftNotes

Alabama players frequently refer to Minkah Fitzpatrick as "Coach Saban's son". He's the only player that's ever made Saban smile. Fitzpatrick also is the only player Saban has ever allowed in coaches meetings to watch film on Sundays or the day after games.

WOW ... he’d be a WEAPON on D .... him and MG for the next decade .... GOOD NIGHT IRENE!!!!

Fitz is a game changer. I dont see anyone in the draft that can impact a full game like him. While Barkley is a great RB prospect, I do not believe him to be nearly as good as Fitzpatrick.

If Barkley is going to be a 1,500-yard, three down back who catches the ball, and Fitzpatrick is going to be a ballhawking, all-pro safety, then I think Barkley is the bigger help. I would be happy with either, but I disagree with people who say "running backs are easier to find." Not Gurley-Elliott type backs. Imagine having a guy who runs for 100 to 150 yards a game. Changes everything.

Look at the draft for the last ten years. See how many RB's get drafted top ten.

We need both and I would also like Ridley and Raquan Smith. We have the picks to move back into the 1st round. We need impact players. Quality>quanity

I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Elliot is a great back no denying that. I would hope Barclay has more common sense.

If I had to pick between Barkly or Fitz. I'd take Fitz. He will be a leader on our D for years and Whom I feel will be an all pro. Barkly should be a great player too but it is a deep RB class and I think we can get someone good in the 2nd round. JMO

I am not saying Barkley is bad or that he should not go in the top of the draft. I am saying Fitzpatrick is a much better fit for what we need.

I would take either and be extremely happy. However, I think we could get Morgan Burnett in FA and draft Barkley at #4. That would be awesome.

FA- Burnett, Landry, McCarron
Draft: 1a - Darnold, 1b - Barkley, 2a - Oliver CO CB, 2b - Kirk TAM WR, 2c - Reid FS Stanford

Minkah is like a slightly less athletic Jalen Ramsey and is a much smarter player.

The Jax/Pit game didn't really do anything to clarify this debate. It's a strong argument for going either direction.

I'm not going to get too high on one of them over the other...I JUST WANT ONE OF THEM!!!

We can't lose either way. Both are great picks.

But I think Barkley is the best RB to come out since maybe OJ...better than AP, better than Dickerson...we can't go wrong if we take him.

Fitz...has that combination of SKILL SET top 10 with the Football Knowledge that I've only seen in QBs coming into the NFL.

A little part of me is almost hoping we get Cousins in FA and then pick up both Barkley and Fitzpatrick in the draft!

I'm just going to sit back on this one and watch it evolve...its almost fool proof, which is a dangerous thing to say in Browns' football...lol fingerscrossed

I've said this before, I'd like to trade UP and get another pick in the 1st.. we have enough picks to do it.

Agreed. It gives us the four year contract with the fifth year option. Huge benefit to get a late 1st round pick over an early 2nd round pick.

I would love if we had 3 picks in the first round. I mean we can only sign so many rookies anyways. Time to add more quality instead of quantity.

Like I said earlier, we did this last year. Here is the thread on the David Njoku pick:

When I heard that Barkley might be a better prospect than Zeke and that it is almost impossible to catch him from behind, I am sold. When I heard that the only player Saban has ever let into defensive coaches meeting was Fitz, I was sold. Get them both and address the QB in FA, trade, cut down, but we need to address the QB position.

I was looking at some 2016 YouTube cut-ups of Minka:

I thought it was a highlight tape.
