Meanwhile in the religious, conservative south they are forcing religion down the throats of kids at public schools. Haven't seen any of our conservative friends voice an opinion on this in here. Last time I looked we had a separation of church and state. https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/23/us/louisiana-school-prayer-lawsuit/index.html

They burn the flag. Do not stand for the national anthem. Take prominent figures from our past and remove them from the history books. Take down monuments from our past. All of these end up protected under The Constitution of The United States of America. I suggest you read the section that's known as The Bill of Rights for further education on this topic. I suggest you read his post. He never said they didn't have the right to do those things.

We love our children and want them to build their lives on rock not sand. We love our children and want them to have a strong moral base to build from. We love our children and want them to grow up knowing that life is not always fair and a trophy for showing up is an insult. We love our children and want them to know, as they travel through life, they need no safe space other than knowing the Lord walks with them. We love our children and don't want them to face eternal damnation.

Dude is a teacher, Swish.
I don't think teachers should express those types of opinions on their students. I think a good teacher presents multiple sides and encourages their students to formulate their own opinions rather than force-feeding their opinions on their students. The best teacher I had was my 9th Grade Civics teacher - the first day of class someone asked him if he was dem/rep. he stated that his job was to teach about the Constitution, not politics. He stated that when we graduated, he would answer that question to us if we still wanted to know. FYI - he was a republican. Please don't use me to further your agenda. I was not supporting Republicans when I criticized that teacher. I was just saying that good teacher doesn't force his/her opinions on students. He/she encourages them to examine all sides of an issue, debate fairly and w/intelligence, research, and be willing to adjust one's opinions as one gains more knowledge and understanding. A good teacher has a goal of his/her students being capable of forming their own intelligent opinions rather than forcing his/her opinions down the throats of impressionable youths. Vers, I 100% agree. I think this one teacher clearly has several other issues going on. Pretty vile, angry stuff.

That is fine and those of us who are not religious also love our children and want what is best for them and to live a life that is kind, civil, caring, empathetic, polite and upstanding. If one wants them to be force fed religion...send them to a religious based school or, choose to work there. I think that is fair enough and it goes with our constitution.

This is probably as good a place to put this as anywhere else, in the interest of not starting a new thread. Teachers - stating their opinions as fact. That's not teaching. So, my daughter has a 4 page paper due Monday for her college class. What about? Her professor wants the students to write about how what Trump is doing with immigration is bad. The prof even gave them some reading material to 'help' them. I read some of it. Not ONCE was 'illegal immigration/immigrants' mentioned. The students are being spoon fed by this prof that ILLEGAL immigrants are not illegal. Here's an example: "Did you know that in 2014, some 60,000 young children faced immigration hearings without the help of an attorney?"

With all due respect Arch I am not sure what your post has to do with my initial comment, which you highlighted.

You can be moral without following a religion. Why don't you try it then?

Hey PDX, I have taught in three separate southern school districts and we never were asked to talk about religion. In fact, we were not permitted to even say things like "Christmas Party." Then, they said we couldn't say "Holiday Party" because it's not everyone's holiday.

Then, they said we couldn't say "Holiday Party" because it's not everyone's holiday. I know that the article doesn't speak of the entire south, just as that one vile teacher in the video doesn't speak for every west coast "liberal" (I know that you didn't say that, but others in here did). But, I do find it very odd that there is a public school, maybe more, that force the Lord's Prayer down the kids throats. Not only is it against the constitution, but what if one is Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu etc.? I will be honest, even the pledge is kinda odd. Having lived and worked in a country that had evil fascists bombing them every night for a year...the thought of pledging allegiance to a flag sends shivers up their spine. I kinda have to agree with them. Not sure how it makes one any more or any less patriotic by being forced to say it. But, that is an entirely different discussion. Schools in Portland Metro also don't use the term "Christmas Break/Holiday" either. It is called "Winter Break". That is fair enough. It is acknowledging that not every kid in the school district celebrates Christmas. To call it "Winter Break" makes common sense to me.

It is also legal to drink your own pee, doesn't make it a good idea or good look for yourself/party. Removing things from history books is not freedom of speech, I would argue its actually the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. As a teacher, you should be ashamed of this. Quote:

This remains an opinion. Please state factual proof of this occurring
The government was in fact shut down for DACA. DACA regardless if you are for or against it, are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Quote:
Took the pledge of allegiance out of schools.
All schools I've ever attended, worked at, or visited all say the pledge.
I cannot answer for all schools, as I haven't been in one for 15 years. I do recall seeing a couple stories of SOME wanting to remove it. Mostly your liberal oriented cities. But those cases are far and few between.

Seems like he is trying to indoctrinate voters for himself. . . .

Im confused.... It is called "Winter Break". That is fair enough. And soon the left will complain that it is not "fair" to even say that. It will go against all that is climate change oriented.
