Pull up any clip of him from the 80's or 90's - he's still dumb as a rock, but it's beyond clear that he was much more lucid than he is today. Pull up ANY clip of a 70 year old person from 35 years ago and you will see a difference. Hell go back another 35 years and really watch the difference

So just to recap the topic......
So nobody could actually point to any deregulation that helped Hostess. It was actually found that what helped Hostess was cutting 95% of their work force.
Arch only cares when some people have grammatical errors yet when it's Trump that has them he rationalizes it.

How about that Hostess Co? $1250 to every employee and free snakes for a year. Sounds like they are back on solid ground thanks to President Trump. Can't wait to see how the Libs spin this outrage.........BTW they went Bankrupt under Barry. Are you blaming Obama for the Bankruptcy? Have you tasted cupcakes and twinkies, they aren't the same. And it should be pointed out that they returned UNDER the Obama Adminstration. So you Blame obama for their bankruptcy but not their return?

Actually there was zero evidence of any deregulation that helped Hostess. If there was, show it to me. There wasn't and you never have shown any. You just spout BS as usual. They did cut 95% of their work force as was shown.
It's no wonder you support a habitual liar as our president. He's just like you.

I don't disagree one bit with what you're saying here. Yet that wasn't the point at all. The actual point that 40 tried to make was deregulation, not tax cuts helped Hostess. Now to this point, neither Trump nor the White House, nor anyone in government I've ever heard of has called taxes any type of government regulations. Regulations have historically been a separate issue. Now if someone wishes to change the entire definition of what a regulation is to prove a point, that's on them. But a tax cut and government regulations have never been the same thing.

Some companies are evil because the people running them are evil. But most are not. The big problem with corps is that the are inherently profit driven and not motivated by any outside force to treat their employees better than the job pool demands. CEOs make there bonuses by delivering profits, period. The board of directors and upper management have a fiduciary responsibility to their stockholder to deliver the highest possible profit! They have nothing like that making them treat employees fairly.
So it's not always the corporations or the people running them but the system itself that is not necessarily evil, but heartless towards employees. If the system put people on the same level as profits the world would be a much better place.
Companies used to be run by men who knew the story of every employee, and the would often make a little less so their employees could have a little more. Some mom and pops are like that but they usually struggle to compete when competing with a big corp for this very reason. Add to the the buying power of big corps, the armies of legal help, vast financial resources... Mom and Pops struggle to survive.
I've always believed that corporations are killing America. They do it in so many ways you can't even count them. But that's the world we live in and unless we bust them up like monopolies, limit the size somehow or end public offerings and speculation (another form of gambling that sucks money from the middle and lower class); then you can do nothing. I can't imagine that stuff happening.
I remembered your off-base post and had to share this: Link Not sure if you need a linkedin account to view that, but Delta gave 1.1 billion dollars to their employees yesterday.

The American economy comprised of corporations has provided an incredibly great amount of people with the ability to have fulfilled lives.
(key phrase - "the ability to have")
And not only Americans.
Anyone who thinks corporations are "inherently evil" has no perspective of human history.

That's great! 13-14K per employee! I wonder if that is divided equally? Do the baggage handlers, ticket sales reps, fuel jockeys, middle management, upper management, and the CEO all get an equal share?

It's beyond a good company. This is only one of a long list of large amounts of money they have been throwing at employees. This company has always been about rewarding employees because they know darn well the employees drive the success of the company. Not the CEO. Not the board members. The people in the trenches. They have always been about that. Here, go read more about all the wonderful ways they throw money at their employees. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/delta-air-lines-employees-getting-165730501.htmlAnd this is only one reason I put Mother Delta on a pedestal.

Also, it should be pointed out that they had a 3.6 billion profit in 2017, and gave 1.1 of it to their employees. That's about a third of their profit they gave away.

On a serious note Eve, I was reading in the Triangle Business Journal (a local weekly) about all of the companies that are starting to voluntarily do the right thing in employee compensation, environmental concerns, etc... all of the attention the younger generation is giving them when they are negative is having an impact... they are realizing that their long term reputation is as important or more important than their quest for short term profits. It's good to see. I've been saying for a long time that either these corporations will figure out how to change themselves for the better or they will either be put out of business or the government will have to start mandating ways to fix them.... and hopefully it's sinking in that those last 2 options aren't good for anybody.

Thats a good thing. Reputation is huge in business as is treating your employees well. The people in the trenches decide your success or failure just as much as your business policies.
I really wish some of these liberal/socialist groups could see something good in what companies like Delta do, and promote it as a role model for other businesses. Instead of hate, see the good.
A little compromise goes a long way to being supportive of both employer and employee and in situations like Delta it's win-win.
