I don't want a six ft QB but his quick release, mobility and accuracy puts him in the Convo. i am not a fan of Allen but his size and arm talent puts him in the Convo.

I believe we take Danold but man I want these guys to do their job on all these QBs and that includes the Cousins option.

I don't care if the quarterback is 4'11" and has a rubber arm, I'll start with a win, but if he can win a super bowl I'll take him. Obviously I believe Mayfield is the best but if we draft Allen, Rosen, Jackson, Darnold, or sign Cousins and we win a title I won't care what his name is or what he looks like.

I don't understand all this talk about the 3rd or 4th rated QB in this draft.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Nor I.

After watching 2 Years of these guys, it's so damn flipping easy. I don't give a rats ass about the Combine other than Medical and meeting these guys face up.

This is a 2 Horse Race except for the Drama Queens making it a 4 horse.

I need a VACATION. I'll see you guys the day before the draft.

But both are football guys.

Now it's that they are not the "right" football guys? We are calling for our new FO to be fired?

Seems the media is latching on to comments made quite awhile ago.

Scot McCloughan is still running his private pre-draft scouting service, consulting many teams. He’s not working exclusively for anyone, source says.

Is there anyway to confirm that?

Did they ever say that he was hired as an exclusive consultant?

First, that tweet was almost the same time as the news that Browns hired him. Maybe he wasn't privy to the entire situation. Or B, it does say his "service" is still working for other teams, maybe he's with the Browns but his service is helping other teams yet.

I thought I read where is was already sitting in on draft discussions. That doesn't sound like a normal scouting service.

Teams have been using services like Blesto for years. My understand on how that works is you get their scouting reports, kind of like any of you who buy inside info from some web site. They have more scouts then does a team, so they can scout more players. Teams use them for reports on players they may not have scouted and to cross check the reports they may already have. I don't think Blesto came in and sat in on draft meetings.

There are multiple other sources saying the opposite. I would, obviously, hope that he is not still consulting with other teams if he is in the Browns building for draft meetings.

You are forgetting one thing. Although your statement is absolutely correct with the #1 pick in the draft and an almost desperate need for that QB...We would be fools to take the 3rd or 4th rated QB in this draft now here is the 64$ question.

rated ACCORDING TO WHO?

There is only one rating system that now counts. Dorsey's.

He will end up with his #1 rated QB. Not Mel Kipers or Shay's or Mayock's.

just putting that out there wink

This is the first time I can remember talking about 4-5 different quarterbacks having the potential being drafted #1 overall. And where 4-5 different quarterbacks have been mocked #1. This is going to be interesting how it shakes out.

My hope is all the big players at the position are gone before the Steelers pick. I want them to struggle for a decade to find Ben’s replacement. Not have one fall deep into the draft for them to groom while Ben is still playing.

Definitely could be right. Jackson and Rudolph at 5 and 6 could definitely slip in there toward the end.

I could definitely see the Steelers taking one of them. There's also the Saints and Bills picking in the 20's.

And if a team like the Cardinals or the Chargers is excited about one of them, could be a possibility too

That is my fear with Mayfield...I think a lot of him but also I have made it clear that the NFL does have a bias in slotting QBs that are not 6'3" +. Not saying they miss the boat in their evaluations. Just that when you got similarly good QBs in the discussion that are 6'4" or 6'5" NFL GM's will probably take one of them over the shorter one.

We saw Rodgers drop and I distinctly remember that GMs talking to analysts that did not have a QB need stated that his height was an issue to teams.

Drew Brees as well.

My fear is that a team like the Steelers will be the ones to benefit him dropping to them. Then of course I hear talk about Mayfield going #1 by some analysts but I don't think so as I believe in the history of the NFL. A few with incredible running skills and speed like Vick and Steve Young. Were the exceptions although Young went to the other league of its time???? Possibly to Donald Trumps team?

Young played for the Los Angeles Express of the USFL. Trump was owner of the NJ Generals, I believe.

The good news is Mayfield won't drop to the Steelers pick. They'd have to trade up. Mayfield won't get out of the top 10 maybe not even top 5.

The quarterbacks who could would be Jackson, Rudolph, Lauletta, and White. But after almost retiring, Ben says he wants to play 3 more years. Maybe change of heart or he didn't like Haley?

On the issue of the Browns letting the world know that Dorsey and now McCloughan are high on Mayfield, some 85 days before the beginning of the draft...that seems very odd to me.

Most teams do not begin talking about their first round picks before the draft and with the Browns now under a new GM, it seems odd for the Browns to be so willing to talk about the QB they like in the upcoming draft.

Dorsey said Mayfield and Allen were among 4 or 5 QBs the Browns wanted to look at.. the same 4 or 5 QBs that everybody with an early draft pick and a QB need are looking at...

And McCloughan reportedly said what he said 2 weeks before being hired. I don't even know if he was under consideration at the time he said those things..

I don't see this as the Browns giving anything away.

To me, it looks like Dorsey is doing some fishing.."ice fishing" in early Feb, nearly 3 months before the draft.

The Browns got on Baker Mayfield's private visit schedule right after the Super Bowl, I'm told. They top my list of likely destinations for the Heisman winner here:

Right.

It's just far too common, and unfortunate, to see posts saying "Who is _____?lol" just because someone reads something they don't like in an attempt to discredit.

I think you have to take your #1 choice at #1. I'm not privy to who the Giants or the Colts or the Broncos or the Jets are drafting or who they might trade up for if that's the case. If Mayfield is vetted to be the best QB in the draft by our front office, I simply think they have to take him #1. Who is to know what the other 31 teams think? Get your guy.

I SWEAR to GOD. If we take Mayfield and pass on MY PICK in Darnold, or even Rosen if we see fit, I'm BREAKING my new SUHD 4K TV ON THE SPOT.

We CAN'T take a 6 foot QB from THAT offense. Non Negotiable.

Calming down. I see what Dorseys doing. Well played. Keep it up.

My GUARANTEE in this draft is that Mayfield WILL NOT be the future QB of the Browns. It's going to be Darnold or Rosen.

*Sigh*

No one is saying that anyone's word is golden. Simply that saying "Who is ______? LOL" is a pretty petty way of trying to discredit someone whose opinion you don't agree with.

I didn't know he was either. That's not a knock on him, I just don't recall his name.

With that said, there does seem to be a lot of smoke around Mayfield and the Browns. I think there is only one guy who should be drafted w/the first pick, but it doesn't seem like Dorsey likes him.

I am resigning myself to the Browns once again doing something stupid and drafting a guy like Mayfield or Allen and passing on a true quality qb in Rosen.

I was all over us trying to trade for Jimmy G. Most of the people on here didn't want him. He was a backup qb. He wasn't drafted in the first round. He got injured. If he was any good, BB would never trade him. Well..........we see how that turned out.

JG and Rosen have many, many of the same attributes. Number 1 is accuracy. And it's supreme accuracy where they lead guys into YAC. Quick release. Great mechanics. Pocket awareness. Ability to go through progressions quickly.

Baker Mayfield has way more questions about his game and personality than answers.
