J/C ..... I like the fact that we added some guys who can create their own shots, also. We had good spacing, and good ball movement, throughout all of the units. (until the very end of the game, anyway)

j/c:

Well, that was fun. lead didn't post once.

Oh, and the game was fun, too. LOL

Some thoughts:

--The energy was high and like you guys said, the team was smiling and having fun.

--The defense was much more active and did a very nice job in their rotations.

--Clarkson is a guy I have always liked. He is streaky, but the dude has confidence and he will shoot the ball. He will be huge for the second unit and to help close games.

--Hill was a little off w/his D on Kyrie early and some of his 3s were off, but he is a stabilizing player.

--Hood's spot up 3s and his ability to drive to the paint w/his face to the basket are big. He can't play w/his back to the basket, but that's okay. Just gotta stay healthy.

--Nance didn't score much, but he made some nice defensive plays and brought energy.

--LeBron looked so happy. Loved when he mimicked Clarkson's 3's pose. Too funny. LeBron looked 5 years younger tonight.

--TT looked good and that is the role he is meant to play.

--JR looked interested again. Loved that.

--Cedi is a good athlete and plays fast. I like this kid.

--Green can contribute and I loved the smile on his face when Clarkson threw down that monster jam down.

--Oh, and we are going to get Love back.

Now, maybe we will get to stop hearing all the negative talk about the Cavs and listen to these guys kissing their asses again.

One con of switching from cable/satellite to PlayStation Vue is that we don't get ABC. Unfortunately, where we live, there is no affiliate within antenna range. I was really looking forward to watching today.

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait till they're back on FoxOH or TBS.

Let's be fair here, it's not like they weren't being honest about what they were seeing. We just won a game by the same margin that we were used to getting blown out by.

And the fact that we traded half the roster seems to indicate that there were at least some problems.

I completely enjoyed whacking Boston. My phone was blowing up with everyone texting me about the game. That was fun.

a different energy was needed IMO. Defense was better, the ball moved better, and LBJ was in a good mindset (which is a big thing)

I didn't say there weren't any problems. I said they ripped us and perhaps they will praise again. Not sure why that was such a crazy statement?

The game was fun. The team was playing together. The future looks brighter. We've been wallowing in negativity for awhile.

It might be fun to enjoy the run.

Went to sea world with family yesterday but taped the game, trying not to look finally got the better of me and peeked at the final score, nice surprise, went and watched when I got home and immediately could tell there was a different feel. The key is and always has been lebron, if he's feeling good about the team it shows and you get a motivated lebron and everyone feels like they are a part. Loved the new guys, Hood and clarkson are HUGE upgrades. I think Nance is going to be fun once he figures out where to fit. If we can get this JR the whole season then he is worth the contract, TT...lol, never will be. Can't wait for Love to come back. Osman has earned himself a spot in the rotation. He is def in the Andy/Delly mold but more talented than either of them. Most points Boston had given up this season and we held them to under 100. I still expect quite a few growing pains. Boston has horrible offense, the thunder game will probably be more difficult for our new guys. Having this many guys that can get their shot is going to be huge for lebron

I got a big kick out of the steals they were making and then unable to complete the dunks. Great steals, inept dunks!

I think it was only Cedi that missed a dunk, and pretty much everyone I've talked to saw that miss coming! I saw him winding up for the slam and I was like, "No no nonono!" grin

As he was going up, I remember thinking, "...here comes one of those lame breakaway layu...wait, he's going in strong with two han....oh damn!"

Nice steal though.

There was two back to back that make it memorable.

Edit: Had to go look this up. @2:24 left in the first half Clarkson steals a pass and slams it home, (I thought he missed it yesterday), next play, Osman steals one and slams it into the opposite rim and it goes flying behind him across and out of the court.

I saw pretty much what everybody else saw but the one thing I haven't seen discussed much was the 8 minutes LeBron was out in the first half when he dinged his knee...

We could still score. We had ball movement, people movement, picks, got good shots, played good defense.. we didn't stand around for 20 seconds, then chuck up a bunch of contested 3s... we didn't go into a shell and wait for LeBron to come back into the game.

That, in a night where I saw a lot to be optimistic about, might have been the biggest thing I noticed.

I noticed the same thing, DC. I kept thinking to myself, "Leave him out for awhile! Let's see what they can do." They did well.

I think Lebron sat the entire 4th too. Much needed rest.

having multiple guys that can get their own shot is going to reduce Lebron's wear and tear substantially. He's not going to have to work as hard to get people a open look or have to rescue a possession. He should be the freshest he's been since back during the playoffs

They talk a lot about chemistry and playing together and I'm sure the Cavs will work on that with this new group and it should improve... however a lot of it is just instinct, you either have it or you don't... and I saw a lot of it. When LeBron would drive, players just moved to open spots along the 3 point line and LeBron found them, that's not chemistry, it's just good basketball instincts... LeBron doesn't have to play with somebody a long time to know where they SHOULD BE, when he drives the lane....

I watched one of the shows, and they showed just how wide open some of our 3's were. Man, some were open by 15-20 feet. That's just shockingly good!

What I liked most about those two plays are how are guys were actively defending the wings off the ball. Both jumped into the passing lane and made the steal.

Another cool thing was how LeBron was clapping for Cedi even after he missed the dunk. The message was that active and smart defense was far more important than the miss as the team moves forward.

Another thing I want to bring up. I've been talking Clarkson up a bit and not too many are saying much about him, but did any of you notice how this guy can create his own shot and how important that will be for the Cavs?

Clarkson with that running three pointer made the entire team smile ear to ear and etc. They were just having fun on the court.

IDK much about Clarkson, but I'm digging it so far. It'll be easy for him to carve out a role here on this team playing like he is.

This team is like buying a new car. You want to put it on the open road, you want to take it on the backroads. You want to stomp the gas, and hit the breaks. See how it corners.

Let's see what this new team can do.

Oh it was great but let's not forget, he is historically a 33% shooter from 3, we can't expect him to go 3 for 4 every night... more like 1.3 for 4 if he sticks to his historical averages... but just having that threat is going to be worth something.

We have a pretty small sample size, but you do have to consider that in LA he was sort of asked to create his own shot. He didn't have guys around him that could make a ton of plays and then hit him for open looks. With Lebron around, he's not a focal point, and might see a lot more open jumpers than he did before. That said, he still has the ability to create his own shot, if needed, which will make him valuable coming off the bench.

What I liked seeing with the new group was Larry Nance sort of running the plays through the post, sort of like how Mark Gasol does it. A couple times, he would take the ball at the elbow, and then hit the open guy running through screens. I thought that was a nice new wrinkle to the offense that we haven't seen much of before.

I wasn't talking about his 3-pt shot, DC. I was talking about his ability to create his own shot. He is a streaky 3-pt shooter and Excel probably has a good point that he might get better looks now.

My point was that this guy doesn't need to stand in a spot and be fed the ball. He can create his own shot. Off the dribble, in transition, off a pass.

Dude is 6'5" and can play both guard spots. His wing-span is over 6'8". He lightning quick and has some hops.

He is kinda inconsistent, but again referring to Excel's point, he didn't have a ton of help in LA. He is perfect for our second unit and he will be in there during crunch time in many, many games.

One thing my kids and I observed the other day was how many workable rotations that we now have. We have a lot of guys who can play together. Having so much flexiblity should really prove to be helpful.

If you're gonna load up a video, at least let us see Russ doin' his thang lol. Maybe my favorite character in the NBA, it would be fun to watch him on a nightly basis... but not as fun as LeBron. wink

Good Luck tonight Thunder fan.

It would be interesting to see the LeBron influence on 3pt pct... not for historically great shooters (Korver still has to fight off screens to get a look because they run him off the line), but for average 3pt shooters... I bet they improve by close to 5 percentage points.
