Not only will Joe be a first-ballot HoF, no one will ever wear #73 for the Browns again.

So be it and good for him. But anytime somebody gets into the hall of fame, (Especially Browns,)
I'm thinking of those 1980's Cleveland Browns teams, and of the deserving.

Ask myself, is anybody in the HOF from those teams,

Answers myself, (I am not talking about purple wearing Ozzie Newsome,) but others.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

There are a lot to never win a title.

Leroy Kelly
Eric Dickerson
Lem Barney
John Hannah
Floyd Little
Steve Largent
Warren Moon
Bruce Smith
Thurmond Thomas
Jack Youngblood
Anthony Munoz
Dan Fouts
Dan Dierdorf

I could probably name more if I give it more thought.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Why do you say that? You have much more in common with Hillary than either Jules or myself.

Neither player helped their team win a super bowl. And both will probably end up in the hall of fame. So I guess it's a wash... unless Joe returns next year and we produce miracles.

I watched a highlight video of him actually a few weeks ago... man, just everything you'd want in a back. All phases, covered. Fast, powerful, intelligent, patient, nimble and could block and catch.

AD may be passed his prime, but what the man did when he was rolling was undeniable spectacular. Even coming back from knee, he shredded it.

Assuming you are saying you preferred Adrian Peterson over Joe Thomas in their draft year? I think QB and LT are the two hardest - and most essential - positions to fill for an NFL team, while there are good RBs coming out just about every year. IMO you take JT over AP 10 times out of 10, especially with the advantage of hindsight.

It's no big deal but it always seems like folks who adamantly disagree with me are liberals who hate Trump. Joe Thomas is awesome! I just want him to be absolutely positive that it is time to hang it up. It would be great to see him make a Superbowl! Go Browns!

Ya'll keep talking about AD and Joe Thomas, but Patrick Willis, Revis and Calvin Johnson were all taken that year. Personally, choosing between those 5, you can't be wrong. Those are all tier 1 players at the most important NFL positions. All of which you can build a team around.

That's cool and all, and I hate to be "PC" here, but tone does matter. Yeah, people will be pissed at you when you say, "Don't puss out" because it appears that you have no respect for Joe Thomas. Had you just posted: "Joe Thomas is awesome! I just want him to be absolutely positive that it is time to hang it up. It would be great to see him make a Superbowl! The only claim of the Joe Thomas pick not being the correct one is the fact that our did has been a bad team with him. But of course not because of him.

But that claim is just nonsense. Of course you all who make that claim disregard his rookie year that showed what could happen if we had the right "TEAM TALENT" here. How many games did we see DA with a perfectly clean uniform. Also we know that if DA was forced to move laterally he was lost. If we had an incompetent LT as in years past we don't get close to the 10 win season and probably our best.

But the failures of the team was not Joe's Fault. To claim with him or without didn't matter. No it did matter cause if we had a Team built for us (Mangini for example) we would have had a Left Tackle that is a parity breaker.

Note RB is not, WR is not.
QB, Cover Corner, Edge Pass Rusher those are the PARITY Breakers of the NFL.

with QB being most important...but the other 3 in the mix of Parity Breakers. It is not Joe's fault that our Powers to be failed the team not Joe Thomas. His excellence never waned.
Best draft pick for us in this new era of 1999 to Present.

AD was a good back but he was a negative in the passing game and was not of this era of football. Why btw Barkley is a stud and perfect for us after we utilize our first pick on a PARITY BREAKER.

because our GMs have felt a receiver is not worth picking early. Our 4 in 1 draft seemed to be a response to having not picked any WRs for several years.

Russel was a learning experience for many. Except many have not learned that lesson yet. If they had they would not be talking about Allen. Big arm with low accuracy doesn't work. It just ends up with throws that are difficult to catch. You only need a certain amount of arm strength and after that its a moot point because WRs can only run so fast in the mount of time an offensive line can block for the QB.

I will begin to really like Allen if he drops out of the first round. I doubt that that will happen, though. If we do end up getting Cousins, Allen or Lamar Jackson in the second is definitely something I can get behind.

I know QBs are over-drafted, but with the quantity available, I think at least one of these guys ends up dropping.

A #1 overall pick that likes Purple drank doesn't work.

Terry Bradshaw went to a few Super Bowls being a big armed QB with low accuracy.

They didn't go because of him, however. They had that defense that was kinda good. They pretty much went despite him, and in a completely different era.

If we want strong arm but inaccurate, we can just stick with Kizer and save the draft picks for some other position.

I agree to an extent, but look at Blake Bortles, Joe Flacco, Colin Kaepernick, etc...

You can win with a big armed QB in the right system. Heck even the Browns managed to put one in the Pro Bowl.

Now that isn't saying I value that QB more than I value a QB like Rosen or Darnold, but I certainly don't see him as worthless.

How many of those guys have had CONSISTENT success?

I'd say that only Flacco comes close to that, and it is arguable that it is more about the team around him than it is him. If you get a guy that is more than just a big arm, and a guy who is accurate, your chances of success go up dramatically. Yeah, you CAN have success with those guys, but your chances are far greater with guys that are better.

Brett Farve?
Phil Simms?
Jim Kelly?
Eli Manning?

I'm just thinking about QB's that have won Superbowls. There are far more that have strung together lots of winning seasons and have not made it to the big game.
