My mom and dad did and they were both pretty moderate in their views. Our vote will count the same as yours. The problem is, if you try to go too far to the left you'll lost the moderate and independent voters you need to win elections. Only one third of voters are republican. Only one third are democrats. The other third are independent voters that usually fall somewhere in the middle.

Maybe you should stop trying to spit in the faces of the very people you need to win elections?

far too often this playing both sides has led to indecisiveness, and ultimately inaction because everyone seems to agree with what the problem is, but everyone is too busy trying to be nice, that the problem continues while people play both teams.

Oh I came to terms with what I stand for a while ago... still ticks 40 off though because every once in a while, in the face of new information, I have to modify my opinion..

But, just to improve my image.. this coming weekend I'm going to boycott a Fortune 500 company that supports the NRA.. then I'm going to bust out the windows of a neighborhood shoe store in a predominantly black part of town.. hopefully that will make everybody happy... oh wait, those are both protests for the same side.. never mind, I'll have to come up with something else.

What it actually means is that my views on issues don't line up with one party or the other. Some line up more with a conservative point of view and some line up with a liberal point of view. My views don't change unless new information comes that causes me to look at the new evidence. I think independently and refuse to be led around by the nose by either party.

Now if one party or the other support all of your views on every subject, that's fine. But I simply don't understand why you think someone that doesn't see all of their views being represented by a single party as being a bad thing.

I think that both parties have become far too extreme and work more to fight against each other to accomplish nothing than to find things they have common ground on that they can work to fix.
