Looks like we may Browns it up again. I'm so sick of their bush league, Podunk, amateur antics. If they pass on one of the top two they should all be fired the next day: Browns 2018 NFL Draft Rumors: Cleveland Not 'Enamored' with Any of Top QBs ROB GOLDBERG FEBRUARY 26, 2018 The Cleveland Browns are in need of a new quarterback and own the No. 1 and No. 4 overall picks in the 2018 NFL draft, but they apparently aren't thrilled with their options. In his latest mock draft, Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst reported "the Browns are not presently enamored with any of the top quarterbacks." There is plenty of debate surrounding this year's class as Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen, among others, are in the mix to be the first player selected at the position. However, the Browns could end up passing on all of them with the top pick. Cleveland has struggled to find a franchise quarterback through the draft but continues to pass on the top options when available. The Browns selected defensive end Myles Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick last year, and while he still possesses tons of upside, they passed on Deshaun Watson and Mitchell Trubisky. In 2016, the team traded out of the No. 2 pick because they didn't love Carson Wentz. "Even though you have a desperate need for [a quarterback], you have to resist the temptation of taking that guy just because you have a need if you don't believe he's one of those 20 guys at the end of the day," chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta said in 2016, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. The Browns haven't drafted a quarterback in the first round since Johnny Manziel in 2014 and haven't used a top-20 pick on the position since taking Tim Couch first overall in 1999. Not coincidentally, the franchise has now gone 15 straight seasons without a playoff appearance, including just a 1-31 record over the past two years. DeShone Kizer was selected in the second round last season and showed some flashes in 15 starts, but he had just 11 touchdowns to 22 interceptions and a 60.5 quarterback rating. The Browns need to do something to change the negative cycle, and drafting whomever they feel is the best quarterback would probably go a long way. Link Even though nothing has been done yet and we're weeks away from the draft a report like this makes me sick to my stomach.

Remember that this is the silly season, and misinformation runs rampant.
Who knows what they really think.

I didn't read the article.
Does anyone believe John Dorsey or the scouting department or the coaching staff are telling Tony Pauline about their draft board let alone about their QB draft board?

Maybe, we are a good interview(s) and/or visit(s) away from being "enamored" with one or some of them.

I like a lot of QBs in this draft, but I'm not enamored with any of them either. Each one of them has a question mark.
We'll still draft one of them though.

The last time Dorsey had pick 1-1 he drafted a "small school" LT, just saying.
I don't think we can safely assume QB at 1. Dorsey doesn't seem like one who will do what the consensus is just because it's the consensus.
I'm actually kind of curious how the defense will shake out. He used a first on Dee Ford (2014) when they already had Justin Houston and Tamba Hali. If Chubb or Davenport are high on his board, I could see them being the pick. Has he drafted for a 4-3 before?

Relax Cal. How in the heck would Tony Pauline know what the Browns are thinking?
I admit I am nervous that we'll blow it again due to Classical Conditioning, but I have a hard time believing that dude would have inside information.

We'll still draft one of them though. Which is exactly why this is one of the rare times I believe Tony Pauline has correct information. Browns haven't made up their mind yet - these kids have a combine, pro day and private work outs to make this team fall in love with them. Translation - We're about to meet you guys; which one of you is going to make us pick you?

BDU,
I agree with you. I agree that the QBs in this draft class are in a cluster and none to me stand out as 'thee' must pick QB at #1.
But, that doesn't make it okay for Pauline to pass it along as IF he 'knows' what the FO is thinking.
Maybe its semmantics but the title of that article is purposefully misleading.

Please.
First, why would the Browns say anything to the media?
Second, there is 2 months to go. They haven't been to the Combine, pro day, or brought guys in for private workouts.
Their evaluation is far from over. Why say anything? They have the first pick. If they didn't like anyone and wanted to trade why say they don't like any of the qb prospects?
This is just noise.

This is all Pauline wrote; I learned at the Senior Bowl that the Browns are not presently enamored with any of the top quarterbacks. Having a pair of picks in the top four is a luxury, and in Barkley they select the best player in the draft -- again. It was revealed in a mock draft. The article in the OP is about what Pauline said, not from Pauline himself. Which only adds, in my opinion, to why it's accurate. Browns didn't fall in love with Mayfield or Allen at the Senior Bowl. Darnold, Rosen and Jackson have an opportunity to make their case - while Mayfield and Allen need to lift their game to all new heights. Just standard practice. Most teams intentionally leak throughout the whole process that they've not decided on who to take at #1 to ensure they get everyone's best efforts throughout the process. If it dropped now that the Browns wanted X player, others might interview differently, such as that of disinterest (You're not taking me anyway!) or overcompensation (Please take me!). Don't be shocked if he hear it more and more - the Browns don't know who they're taking. We know that the Browns say they didn't lock Garrett in as the #1 pick last year until about two weeks before the draft.

Andrew Berry's face when asked about Garrett said "we're not saying we're going to take Myles, but we're going to take Myles" lol. But yeah, I'm prepared for the deep smoke screens lol. They'll pickup a lot more next month.

Journalists are being paid to write articles so they need to come up with anything...even if it means unverified or poor/weak sources. I wouldn't put too much credence on it otherwise it means we are going to go ALL in on Cousins and planning to draft a QB in the 2nd (Rudolph, White). According to JT, MKC and a few others they don't see that scenario happening. If they are correct then there is no way we we don't draft a QB at 1 or 4.

It's ridiculous, but I understand NFL writers/draft experts wanting to keep things fresh. It's the media these days. MKC is a Browns beat writer and I don't know if she writes about anything else for the PD. Maybe she does, I don't know, but she sure loves quoting other media outlets and referencing Mayock, just to get hits on their website. I imagine she does so because she's instructed to consistently generate Browns content, to keep traffic coming back.
Just an educated guess.

Anyone else notice that they stopped putting bylines at the top of stories and instead have them like 5 paragraphs in? It's brilliant...and annoying. Click on a cleveland.com link, read the interesting title, look for the author, don't see one, cautiously start reading and then find out it's a MKC piece. They really need to make a "Pure Speculation" section on most sites.

I don't really know why, but I think we're going to draft Josh Allen at #1
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I don't really know why, but I think we're going to draft Josh Allen at #1 What a disaster this would be... The only thing worse than signing Cousins is drafting Allen. I've often wondered if Goff and Wentz were included in this draft how it would look. Were those two that much better than the choices in the draft today? Would Goff be the consensus #1? I remember a lot of people here thought that neither should have been drafted in the first round. Are the quarterbacks today that much better or are we just that much more desperate?

Two months until the draft..April 26...
...going to be a lot of stories written over the next 60 days and most will be inaccurate.
Too soon for me to worry about who the Browns pick at #1 & #4.

j/c Is there anyone of these QB's that the FO SHOULD be enamored with? I know everyone seems to have their own preferences for their own reasons, but is there anyone they should have such strong feelings about? I don't know.. sounds like a Sashi Brown move is brewing...

well just for u I hope we take Mayfield. Thanks for the informative football post. As for height I agree if the kid was 6'3"+ He would handsdown be the overall #1 pick.
As for us taking QB??? Of course we are. We want the Giants 2nd rou d pick. If they think somebidy is going to get their guy. You cant believe what they say from here on in regarding the draft.
