LOL I was just thinking the same thing. Misdirection is the key word this time of year.

I'll be totally fine with that. Of the two, Rosen still worries me simply because of injuries, but we have discussed that at length in the Rosen thread.

Darnold and Fitz would be the most ideal draft situation given Kirk/Drew is not signed IMO too. Huge leaps on both sides of the field with those two picks, especially right away with Minkah.

I agree with Rosen or Darnold at #1 and MF at #4. Then with our 3 2nd,s we can take a CB, RB, and a LB/ edge rusher. JMO

I can't believe the idiots that write at CBS have a mock of us trading 1, 4, 33, 35 for andrew luck...yeah if we did that they should fire everyone about 1 second later

Forget about Luck. Let's get our own guy and develop him. Luck has injury issues and my gut feeling is he won't be the same. Even if he heals and plays again he may be one good hit on that shoulder from being out.

I could see that. He has a huge arm, and that is something you simply cannot teach. I really have no idea where we're going.

Incredible. That's insane. I would probably throw up in my mouth if we gave up that. Why don't they send all their children along too with that package?

Well even the title started out with "draft rumors". So it is what it is and I put zero stock into it.

"Draft Rumors" we have been so hurt as a fan base we believe every bad comment there is, we have to stop believing anything and everything written, discuss it, Yes, look into it, Yes, but man all these things are NOT the truth, some are simply smoke screens or even worse lies!! superconfused tsktsk

Sam Darnold isnt going to throw at the combine. Do you want to compete for or not? This is a chance to stand up there with the top guys and strut your stuff. Makes me much less enamored with DArnold.

Rudolph, Allen, Mayfield, Jackson, Rosen are all gonna be throwing. Competitive fire is being shown by 5 of the top 6. Doesnt mean we wont draft him but when you have 6 guys ranked all pretty even, its a check mark the others get.

I want us to draft the one that stands out above all others.

Exactly my point. I do recognize the article is coming from rumorville, but it's that exact type of disinterest that got us in this mess in the first place, and continues to plague us year in and year out.

Nothing ridiculous about it. Allen's lack of accuracy and his shoulder injury this year and shattered collar bone in recent years are concerns. Using a #1 pick on this guy is an absolute disaster. Maybe in the 2nd round like Kizer or 3rd round, sure, take a shot... but not at 1.

Brees and Wilson have huge hands. Mayfield does not.

I don't believe all the QB's are nearly as close to even as some in the media portray and the fans believe. I think Rosen and Darnold are heads above the rest and I think the draft will bear that out.

Word is Darnold is trying to work on mechanics. Better for him to wait.

I also believe that there's a strong possibility we will take Darnold @1.

I catch a lot of flack for liking Baker... and I admit there are options who may be just as good, but I think what Mayfield brings as a leader is something this franchise is sorely lacking. His intangibles alone would change the culture for this entire franchise.

I think he's a vocal leader and players gravitate towards him. I think he's someone who will continue to fight when things are going poorly, and I think that's what this franchise needs. I believe a lot of the times, fans included, when we look like we might win a game, we always are thinking in the back of our mind how are we going to screw this up... and I believe it weighs on the players.

I think the problem is not that there isn't a quarterback to be enamored with, it's that all the quarterbacks are different and you have to figure out what traits best suit your franchise. Ideally if you take Rosen's mechanics, Darnold's build, and Mayfield's instincts and leadership you have yourself a franchise quarterback.

I think you have to decide which traits you're most comfortable with and draft accordingly. Which traits/skills can easily be taught or coached? Which traits//skills cannot? I see it time and time again that if Baker were 2 inches taller he'd easily be the #1 pick.

I think for our franchise in it's current state, after going 1-31 in the past 2 years you need a guy is a leader first. The other guys can mold into that but Mayfield is already that.

I believe with a loss Mayfield will work twice as hard and fire up the team twice as much with each loss. I don't believe he's too ra-ra, I think he's a guy that will work his butt off and the rest of the team will say, "you know what, we're going to be alright. We're going to win with this guy. Let's go fight with him."

I don't think the other two top QB prospects, Rosen or Darnold, are near the type of leader Mayfield is...

But I kinda agree with tab, taking a shorter QB #1 overall will be seen as a poor draft pick. I think Dorsey will need to have some balls to pull this one off. I think it's better for him if he takes a taller QB and he fails than if he takes a shorter QB and he fails. JMHO

And for all that, I think Mayfield should be the pick, but I believe it will be Darnold. At least at the moment.

I really wish someone could name all the "hundreds" of short quarterbacks who have failed in the NFL. I keep hearing about them but have yet to see any names...

Heck most teams were smart enough not to draft them in the first place.

I'll put it this way. You mentioned two. Do you know how far back you would have to go to name a third? Doug Flutie.

Flutie didn't fail. He started a game when he was in his 40s. Sounds like he played football for a long time.

First of all, you can't fail in the NFL unless you get a shot to play to begin with... and second, since you changed course, who are all the short quarterbacks that teams passed on? There are "hundreds," so I'm sure you could name at least 15?

Enamored
I thought it read enameled.

for the life of me,I could not figure out what that meant.
so I opened up this thread, started reading, and quickly realized that this was about the dumbest article I'd ever read.
and now I'm disappointed because I still don't know what enameled means.

Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem
