Of course. A few come to mind.

Not so much as a matter of my personal preference (remember there’s NO accounting for taste), but rather what I was doing when I heard the song.

For instance in 1981, I had an early summer job stocking shelves in a large grocery store.

It was third shift. 11 pm - 7 am. The store was closed.

I was on a ~ 6 man stock crew.

Sometimes we had to spend several hours unloading a tractor trailer. Regardless, it was always non-stop heavy, repetitive, mindless, hard work. Very tough.

They blared an AM radio station over the store loudspeakers all-night while we worked.

I don’t ever want to hear Neil Diamond’s “We Coming to America” song again.

Just don’t do it.

Kiss from a Rose by Seal

The one song that's out now that makes my skin crawl is "Havana" by Camila Cabello.. There aren't a lot of songs that will make me change the station but that is one of them.

Too many to mention, but I will say that everything ever done by Neil Diamond is on that list.

Oddly, I like the early Neil Diamond stuff ~ pre-1973. And I pretty much hate all his stuff after that.

By the way he just permanently retired last month due to Parkinsons. (geez, the guy's in his 70s)

Another song I hate:

The Eagles':

"There's a new kid in town. I don't wanna hear it."

"No more I love yous" by Annie Lennox. I used to work in a dollar store and when that song would come on we'd sprint to the radio to switch stations.

There's also this "Cars for Kids" jingle that plays constantly on the radio from in LA during the morning commute. I usually have the station changed within 3 notes of the song starting.

ALL Disco for me.

Quote:
Barry Manilow

Years ago, I made my front yard into a graveyard scene for Hallowe'en. Carved gravestones from styrofoam insulation panels, and used this paint called 'Fleck-It." Made all those white panels look like granite, marble, etc.

All the names were really bad puns. Gave the parents something to laugh about while their kids got candy at the door:

Nikolai Rimsky-Korpsakov
Art Modell
(Rest In Pieces)
Disco
Cleveland Browns
1948-1996
Notorious D.O.A.
ColdPac 4 Shur
Wm. Randolph Hearse
("Publish or perish")

but the one that always got the biggest laugh:

Bury Manilow

CHS, how are we suppose to smoke together when you don’t even listen to cold play?

As for songs, I'd say anything I hear on the radio more than once a week. We have a classic rock station that has almost the same playlist every day. Play some b-sides guys. The rock station plays every band that has mega, guns, death, metal, or similar words in their names. I don't like being screamed at by a singer on the radio all day either. I can't stand speed metal. It seems to take no talent. I guess I'll have to keep updating my playlist with new stuff.

I hate disco too. Thing is, back in the 70's if you hit the disco clubs near closing time you had about a 99% chance of hooking up, so it was worth listening to an hour of that crap, lol.

Exactly. I hated disco, but I hit the clubs and danced my ass off. The fringe benefits made it all worthwhile.

That's Glen Campbell.....nothing wrong with that.

For me, anything by Michael Bolton.

When my daughter was about 14 my wife was to take her and 2 girlfriends to a Michael Bolton concert.

She got very sick, so I had to take them. Gawd!

It's a great memory now, but that night was horrible.

Deep funkadelic cuts. But if you really want to listen to Coldplay so badly, we could always throw on some Radiohead tongue
