Why his handlers let this moron talk unscripted is beyond me. http://thehill.com/homenews/administrati...-process-secondPresident Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain individuals deemed to be dangerous, even if it violates due process rights. "I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man's case that just took place in Florida ... to go to court would have taken a long time," Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence. "Take the guns first, go through due process second," Trump said. Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons. "Allow due process so no one's rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons," Pence said. "Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court," Trump responded. Trump met with lawmakers on Wednesday to discuss gun laws and school safety in the aftermath of a Feb. 14 shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 people dead. The suspected shooter, Nikolas Cruz, was able to legally purchase the AR-15 reportedly used in the shooting despite numerous calls to law enforcement about his unstable behavior.

He seems to want civil asset forfeiture, guns version. The officer need only say he perceives the guns are to be used in drug crimes and take them. Make the citizen pay to fight and prove they weren't going to use them in drug crimes to get them back.
Damn the constitution, full steam ahead!

I'm busting GOP balls on this but I actually hope he gets a sensible gun bill passed. I not only support it but would applaud it.
I read this morning that the GOP is mind blown and trying to walk this back to a degree. Trump claims to know his base, but other than 40, I just don't see his base being happy about any kind of gun regulation. Especially legislation that grants the authority to seize weapons first, then adjudicate second. LOL, WHAT? I'm loving it.

Look who has switched to crying out of the other side of his neck, now supporting Due Process! You were always crying that people were guilty by accusation alone, insulting those who called for Due Process. Now this.

I can't even begin to imagine what the state of this board and the country would have been in if Clinton had won the election, and then said these things after the shooting. Or - possibly the end of the world - if Obama had said it after Sandy Hook.

Your hero wants to raise the gun age to 21. Wants to take guns without due process, expand background checks and as someone who CLAIMS to uphold the second amendment, all you can do is taunt the other side instead of standing for what you CLAIMED to have believed in.
If a Dem would have said these things, you'd be outraged and raising hell.
But you did exactly what I expected. You did the same thing those who CLAIMED to belong to the party of family values did. You've sold your soul down the river for a lying blowhard.

I'm mocking people like who actually think this doddering old fool cares about you or anything but seeing his face on TV. The guy literally advocated for the government to confiscate guns on a whim, because he's too dumb to know what his talking points are supposed to be. And you're so infatuated with him that it doesn't even phase you. This is because your politics are reactionary, and nothing more.

Wait! Is being naive, gullible, and unintelligent also related to a color like cowardice is to yellow? If so then somebodies flag is looking like a rainbow! Or just maybe it was a rainbow to begin with.

Florida state Senate passes a Marjory Stoneman Douglas gun control act — and some call it an insult to its namesake http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-florida-gun-control-20180305-story.html The rest of the country has been watching what Florida does here. I think several other states will follow with similar legislation thanks to these great kids and their movement.

Oh, Kaaaaack, man. Let us never dive so far into the weeds as to forget this quote from the original article:"Take the guns first, go through due process second," Trump said. ...says America's 'stable genius' and constitutional scholar who would rush into a hail of bullets unarmed.... oh- wait... This entire scenario rests upon the believability of Donald J. Trump's pillowy, 71 year old, Pillsbury doughboy-lookin' ass actually rushing to do anything at all.#realityizzabitch. next.

Clem, just stop! You know damn well that uncle Donnie is going to put all the good Republicans on his lap and carry them to the promised land! Just wait, it's going to be all milk and honey with just the RIGHT kind of people! And don't you worry Clem, honest hard working black folks is welcome to! You know, the good blacks. Yep we will have the lowest black unemployment ever! And we will have so many more jobs for 'the blacks'... It's gonna be great for black people. You will get to live like your people did in the 50s when life was Great in America! Seriously Clem, how can you argue with this?

BTW Clem, do you think Trump is including the 'old' form of slavery when he calculates the lowest black unemployment ever?
Never mind the law or the constitution! Don't worry that we are losing our leadership role among the world's greatest nations! Don't think about having a President who refuses to protect us from Russian acts of cyber war!
Just ignore all those reports of corruption and russian connections while Trump dismantles our democracy by degrading it's governments agencies to the point of utter absurdity! And don't act like you care about all his lies, improprieties, obnoxious behavior, childlike communication skills, and clownish demeanor; He won! He's YOUR President!
Seriously Clem, let's just hope he takes all the guns so Putin can finish us off. My friend in Russia tells me he's a dick to work for but other than that Putin rules with an iron fist and looks tough without a shirt. This is what Trump wants to be. That and President for life.

It amazes me how those who propose strong second amendment rights because of the constitution, which I happen to be one of, have little of anything to say about Trump promoting stepping all over another part of the constitution.
I guess when it comes to the constitution they pick and choose which parts they get outraged about and which parts to ignore. Selective constitutional rights seem to be the order of the day.

It's like the Bible. I do find it kind of ironically funny that some of the same people who are calling for the repeal of the second amendment are also fearful of Trump trying to make himself President for life.

Well he is the one who praised China for it. And it was the right who were fearful Obama would do the exact same thing. Sounds like an epidemic.

Is that a thing? The only person I've ever run across fearing that a president would circumvent Amendment XXII was (ironically) my dad, and his president he feared doing this was Obama. I mean, I'm sure people are fearful of it. I just wonder if we're moving into horseshoe theory

... my dad, and his president he feared doing this was Obama. Yeah, but was he in favor of removing the 2nd amendment, which was put in place specifically to protect against that? That's the irony I'm talking about.

I mean, I'm sure people are fearful of it. The last 3 or 4 Presidents, when they left office, there was an uproar about them declaring martial law to prolong their presidency and stupid crap like that.. I remember it first for Clinton, then every President who followed him... I distinctly remember this image of US tanks on a train travelling through "Illinois" with a caption about how Clinton was was moving them into position in America so he could stay in office... then when Bush was leaving office they used the same damn photo with the same damn caption, just ctrl F and replace the name... <smdh>
