Kinda like that Rosen to Ridley connection. I could easily enjoy watching that in seal brown and burnt orange for the next decade.
I was underwhelmed with Ridley.
Think there are better players available when he's projected to be picked.
I am coming around on Rosen. The whole "all my heart and soul" bit seemed a little over the top, but he is saying the right things and he seems to have matured over his time at UCLA. My biggest on field concern was the deep ball which his performance today will have me go back to the film and re-evaluate. Concussions can be an issue, but I think he has handled his the right way, and it's not a position where helmets are rattling every play. Our interior OL is solid which should also help him avoid concussions.

Spoke to an NFL QB coach who said UCLA's Josh Rosen was the sharpest of all the quarterbacks he visited with here in Indy. "He was very impressive. He knows football inside and out."
(Bruce Feldman is the Adam Schefter of college football. My guess is that his source is Kevin O'Connell who used to be our QB coach and is now Washington's QB coach.)
We have the first overall pick and may never have it again. Rosen is sitting right there for us. All we have to do is not blow it.
I am starting to lean this way.
Darnold just never seems to set up and be calm in the pocket. Allen can’t hit the side of a barn from the inside, though if he did he would throw it through it! I also don’t think Allen can read a defense Mayfield just doesn’t thrill me. Jackson needs a lot of development.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

Allen? Man they better look at that Right Shoulder really really REALLY good and know what they are looking at.
Metal plates, screws, Staples? Yikes.
Damn it, I WANT DARNOLD. And Fitz at 4.
If we're hot on Allen, I'm going Barkley at 1 and Allen at 4. If Allen goes 3 in a move up, Rosen or Darnold will be there at 4.
And I'm a Happy Camper even before my Camping Season Starts!
I see absolutely no possible way that if we like Allen that much, we can't possibly have Darnold and Rosen that far behind.
As a matter of fact, if we want Allen at 4 and he's gone and Rosen and or Darnold are sitting there and we pass, I will seriously question what the hell these guys are looking at.
How do you think they repair broken collarbones? Look at Aaron Rodgers and tell me having the same injury (twice) and surgery to fix affects his ability to throw. If the injuries were labrum or rotator cuff based, understand the concern - broken bones - nope.
Watch Allen throw and tell me he is affected by that injury. Don't think so.
I read somewhere, not sure where I saw it, and I’m not even sure if it’s important or not, but one of the QBs struggled throwing to the right in the drills, does anyone know who that was? Don’t remember who it was.
Rosen has always favored the left side so that is nothing new.
You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.
I remember the analysts referring to the latter on at least one of those outs.
He hasn't thrown to these receivers before, so timing will be off at times. His mechanics were still the best and he shows better anticipation than Darnold, Jackson, and Allen.

This is the crazy thing with the combine. I can't imagine that results here would over-rule years of tape, analysis and scouting unless the results are really anomalous which may merit a re-assessment. The interviews would be a major aspect. Unless of course some players are so off radar?
All players who have been elite may have had a great combine results but not all great combine results translate into elite players. It's part of the puzzle.
I can see Allen's draft stock improving dramatically because of his combine performance but I don't see Rosen's or Darnold's dropping because of theirs. Dorsey and Co. Have to complete the process, make their evaluations, then select the pick. All we can do is wait and debate.

It ain't about the ability to throw after a collarbone or shoulder injury.
It's about RECURRING injury.
How many times has Rodgers gone down for the year with it?
Sorry, but I'm not willing to take the chance that Allen survives Watt coming off the edge and planting 290 on Allen's right shoulder into the ground.
Is this a Rosen or Allen thread.. ? I saw all of them miss a few and I saw a lot of very nice passes. Timing was an issue of some of the quick short sideline drills as it was a different receiver on every throw and some cut the route short and some were slower than others. Only one that missed ALL of them was Darnold. He did really well holding the ball though..
I watched every throw from every player. Allen look the best overall. Means absolutely squat to me. I can hit a 2 in target from 200yds 5 times in a row with my .223 rifle on a good day. I cant hit a barn from 50 ft when the bullets are headed my way at the same time. The combine is about measurables and interviews..nothing else.
No one has said that. If anything, while surprising he had those misses, I think most understand the variables of who's running the routes and catching the balls. Re; that video, man I love his ball placement. And he's still my #1.

Thought Rosen had a good workout. just very fluid and pretty consistent. just plays with such balance, i love that. Dont give a damn if he hit those targets. Its about looking the part and he did.
The thing I dont want to see is guys that are afraid to throw it. If i see guys underthrowing the deep stuff, it bothers me to no end. Its not the timing its the fact they are afraid to push it. I see guys lofting to the edge, those are all picks.
I thought Rosen, Allen and Mayfield looked the part. I thought Jackson tried to be safe to much and it hurt him. Darnold not throwing and teams are asking is it an elbow thing.
White also looked the part, i think he could slip into late 2nd.
I apologize, vers, I asked the question about Rosen throwing to the right cause I read it somewhere, and wasn’t even sure that I read it was Rosen, could have been Allen, Mayfield, or anyone(except Darnold). I didn’t get to see all of the QB’s throws and was asking if anyone had seen that to corroborate what I had read. It sounds like it wasn’t the case.
I don't evaluate the Combine and Pro Days for QBs like most people. I look for a couple of things:
1. Footwork. This is multi-faceted, but a few points are: A. Explosion w/the first step in their drop B. How much ground do they cover in the 3,5, and 7-step drops? C. Do they maintain a good balance throughout the drops and through the follow-through?
2. How fast does the ball come out of their hand? Do they wait and guide it or do they drop and let it rip?
I think those are the most revealing things you can look for when watching guys throw against air.
Vers I have to admit, it was you that convinced me to really look at Rosen. And while I admit, it wasn't a whole lot of looking, but this guy, IMO, is ready now. He reminds me of Rogers. Not sure exactly what it is, but that was the first thing I thought when watching him.
This dude is accurate, and knows how and where the ball should be placed. I'm not an expert, but it sure seems to me that he reads the defense pretty good. Knows how to manipulate the safety with his eyes.
I'm so afraid they are going to pass on this guy for Darnold. When I watched Darnold, I did not get the same feeling, as watching Rosen. This kid is cerebral, knows the game. I think he is going to be very good. As for Darnold, he just reminds me of all the other "hopes" we tried at QB. I really believe Rosen could play right away.
Three NFL QB coaches who spoke with Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman raved about the intelligence of UCLA QB Josh Rosen.
"[Rosen] came across very well when we sat down with him (at the combine)," one quarterbacks coach said. The two other coaches echoed this opinion, tossing around phrases like "very impressive" and "came across very well." Just about the only demerit that was lodged against Rosen -- at least from these three -- was that he looked somewhat shaky early in throwing drills, short-arming a few slants. Chalk that up to nerves. We're encouraged (though not surprised) to hear that the UCLA gunslinger is coming through as impressive in interviews. The most consistent knock on Rosen as a draft prospect has regarded "character issues."
You know what is crazy? I didn't like Rosen either. I watched part of one game last year and wasn't impressed. I read all the negative comments and thought the dude was a jerk and was an underachieving, over-hyped blowhard.
Then, I watched the UCLA/USC game because I really wanted to watch Darnold. But, Rosen was the far superior qb in that game and Herbsteit kept gushing over Rosen and saying how Darnold needed more time and more work on his game. I really respect Herbie's takes and his words echoed what I was seeing.
Thus, I started watching every video I could find on the guy and I was fairly astounded. His accuracy is what blew me away and I really value accuracy.
I don't think Rosen compares to Rodgers athletically or even in arm strength. I think they both have unique arm talent. I see that you watched the Cosell video, so you know the difference.
Rosen kind of reminds me of Jimmy G due to just how accurate they both are. Both make quick reads. Both tend to force some throws [obviously a negative.] Rosen might have a better arm, but Jimmy might move a bit faster. Both have very quick releases, but I don't know if anyone is faster than JG.
I think Cosell's comparisons to Goff and Matt Ryan were pretty good.
