This makes me really happy. He was a great player for us and devoted to the city and the fans. Even when the Cavs won their championship he took part in the parade. I wish him the best of luck as a coach for us and hope he is very successful. *Full disclaimer - I may or may not own a Cribbs jersey.

I am so happy. This man needs to be back in the building! "Play like Brown" is such a stupid mantra, but if anyone exemplified that it was Joe Thomas and Him. I would say Phil Dawson too, but the kicker can't be one of THE players you think of.

It's the same kicker that's been basically our only player worth using the tag on lol. We used a different tag on Alex Mack but hey, point is don't be afraid to give Phil some love due to his position. I get what you're saying though, not as "flashy".

He is our scoring leader and is in the top 10 for points scored in the NFL. I love him. It's no shade on him, it's just a testament to how bad of a saying it is. You would never hear the Bengals say "Play like a Bengal" because no one wants to hear it while trying to get a win. You can't just speak a culture into existence.

They only brought him on as an intern? That seems like a cheap way to go.
I hope they're paying the guy...

I've been a Browns fan since 1960 and Josh Cribbs is as good as I've seen. Never gave less than 100%. Not many can say that. Congrats Josh.
I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Cribbs was a great returner, but he was also an excellent kick cover man. Hopefully he can teach those skills as well as returning.

Nice move by Hue.
Like the rest of you, I have a lot of respect for Cribbs. I'll never forget a game my daughter and I attended when I had season tix against Minnesota. BQ was our qb. It was a horrid offensive performance by him and the "offense."
What I remember though is if Minni had to kick off after a score and at the start of the second half or were forced to punt........we'd look at each other and say "hey, we have a chance to score now!" He had a great game and was the only positive in what was otherwise a very bleak performance by the Browns.

Great for Cribbs, one of my favorite players. I remember going to the stadium for the first time in 2007, the year they finished 10-6. The place was rocking, it was December and very cold, we were 9-6, needed a win and the Colts to win to make the playoffs, we won but the Colts sat everybody and lost Anyway, we were playing the 49ers, and won 27 to 7 I believe. It was just after halftime... I went to get a few beers, the line was slow, and heard the second half was about to start, so I asked the guy behind me to hold my spot and ran to the next gate. To my surprise it was the end zone and saw Cribbs returning a kickoff for a TOUCHDOWN... everybody was jumping. A few seconds later found out it was called back because of a holding penalty... however, that was one of my favorite moments.

I’d put him in a uniform, as good as he was he can’t be any worse than th guys we have returning kicks now.
He’s only 34.
WE DON'T NEED A QB BEFORE WE GET A LINE THAT CAN PROTECT HIM my two cents...

Why would we want him returning kicks when not many kicks are returned anymore?
It's a first step for Josh if coaching is something he wants. I am sure he will give it his all and can be a very good coach.
I said it before, Josh was our pro-bowl FS who never played FS.

Saw this on facebook last night, someone had posted it. Anyway that caused me to go look up a video of his greatest plays.... Wow, the guy was just amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzW_pd3jT_cI'm very happy he's associated with the team again. Very happy. He had a drive and an ambition that he may be able to instill in these kids...

Heck yeah!! He was amazing to watch. I wished he could've advanced more as a wr too because he was dynamic when the ball was in his hands.
Him returning kicks is almost as pleasing for me to watch than seeing Jenn Aniston lol.

Unstoppable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish there was a video of his hits too. I'm not talking about HIM getting hit, him on kickoff coverage. I think YTown alluded to his coverage skills, but this guy made some good tackles and he also made some leveling and crushing type hits.

Its cool and all, but honestly - its just a marketing ploy. Cleveland fans love cribbs, and rightfully so. But really what can he bring as a coach? You cant teach what he had - that's for sure.

I think in the article, it spells out the answer to your question. Cribbs was so highly respected that the coach at the time would always have him speak to the Special Teams. Is it a Marketing ploy,,, I have little doubt that there is an element of marketing, but mostly, I think Cribbs wanted back in and it's a way for him to start a coaching career... I think it's an excellent move.

I think he can teach a lot to the coverage teams. I also think he can teach a lot about what to look for before deciding to make a fair catch. That would have helped Peppers last year.

I think anytime you can bring in a vet with a proven bit of success to talk to a team stacked with young talent - that's a plus in just the aspect of communication itself. I don't disagree, probably a marketing ploy as it's main intention, but I'm totally on board with it.

Myles, Garrett and Myles Garrett! LOL
But all these kids are talented and skilled. They wouldn't have made it to the NFL at all had if it not been for that aspect.

Who do you take if you have to pick? Cribbs or Metcalf? Not hard for me... I think Metcalf could be an incredible weapon in today's NFL. Good for Cribbs. A great dude that young players will love and a superstar in his own right, at least on special teams, the resume speaks for itself.

He had vision like no other. When you watch him, many of his returns went straight ahead. A cut here and there, but basically he ran thru holes that he saw. No hesitation, like he knew exactly where he was going before he even did it. Love this guy.
He might just be a heck of a ST coach in the future. This is a good chance for him to begin a new career.
RIP, Jim
