Report: Browns working on new uniforms for 2020

The Cleveland Browns dramatically redesigned their uniforms in 2015 and are looking to do so again at the next opportunity.

The team has already begun the process of developing new uniforms, according to Jordan Zirm of ESPN Cleveland.

Team co-owner Dee Haslam admitted in 2017 that the team would look at improving the look and feel of their current uniform. However, such redesigns fall under a two-year process, so the Browns will have to keep their current duds until after the 2019 season.

Here we go again...

I definitely want different uniforms. I don’t care if we go back to the old ones or come up with something new. But the current ones need to go.

I'm quite sure we won't go back to 1986. They'll probably bring back a retro feel with a slight twist, nothing as dramatic as what we have now.

I applaud the attempt at a change even though it may have missed the mark. I think more of us would like the current uni's if we were 31-1 instead of 1-31 over the past two years.

Did the writer of the article really say that we DRAMATICALLY redesigned our uniforms?

This. I hate the orange numbers.

Last month we discussed the report of the Jacksonville Jaguars getting new uniforms, and on Monday the team confirmed it.

The Jaguars didn’t reveal much in the press release this morning about the uniforms other than they will be unveiled in the spring. According to the report from January, Mark Long of the Associated Press stated that the uniforms could feature more teal. That would make a lot of sense when looking at the reception of the Jags’ teal alternate jerseys, which the team brought back and wore twice during the 2017 season. The Jags also stated that season ticket members of the US Assure Club and Fields Auto Group Terrace Suite sections will get personalized 2018 jerseys as an added perk for their support.

The uniform change will include the Jags ditching their infamous two-toned helmets that have received mixed reviews. However, it remains to be seen if the Jags will roll with a solid color as they did prior to 2013 or try something innovative again.

Did they Jags put in their request 2 years ago?

They got new uniforms, I ran out and got the Limited version of Joe Hadens... Joe goes on to play not so well, gets cut, goes to steelers and I'm left with a Haden jersey I dropped like, $120 bucks for and wore twice.

I could care less about the thought of their uniforms and especially buying one haha.

Once again I'm in the minority as orange is my favorite color, so the more orange the better for me! I'm weird!

I like the uniforms, especially the orange jerseys. I don't want to go back to the 1950s.

Let's hope the new change is more dramatic than an orangier orange.

Yeah, if they want to go "modern" then go modern. They basically made the orange a "traffic cone orange", then shuffled the stripes around.

Then go back to the pre-2015 design for throw-backs to be worn more often than not.

Get the turd stain off the back of the helmet. It's an ugly design in real life. Jacksonville just did a redesign to get the rash off of their helmet. The helmet isn't the problem the jersey is.

First, get rid of the word Cleveland on the front of the jersey. Also, don't do some crappy futuristic number design if you're not gonna match it on the stripes and give them horizontal designs. Also why do the numbers have an offset shadow? I hope they just give us something plain. If they want to spice something up for an alternative jersey, the Browns and them should take a further stand for BCA and allow the Browns to work in pink into their jerseys. I know what ya'll are thinking? Pink? Well, pink and blue are the only two colors that go well with brown and orange. And until we have a Save The Whales month, we have to go with Pink.

Yes please. I wish this would be our standard uniform and "white on white" was alternate. I understand it's better when it's hot out to reflect the sun, but when given a choice it's soooo boring.

I feel the same about other teams that like all black or all white. Just so so boring.

One positive is when it's really muddy out (sooo most of Nov/Dec in Cleveland) I do like how the white jerseys show all the stains and makes us look tough. Otherwise give me Orange and Brown (ya know, our team colors!).

One last caveat... IF WE WERE WINNING, we could wear trash bags and I'd be fine with it

Yeah, I didn't really like the brown part of the helmet either. What I want is the metallic orange and the different stripe down the middle. It keeps things simple, but looks a lot more modern.



Agree as well, I just didn't have time to say anything. I think they need to go as "simple" as possible. I kind of like what the Seahawks have:



Just swap blue with brown and use the orange as a high-light color like they do (if at all). Don't make it a main color. Make the helmet look metallic and similar to the first image I've posted and you've got a very sleek "updated" look, while still keeping the simple uniform ideal that we've had for years. Then use the 80's jerseys as throwbacks for those that want to keep that kind of look, as it's pretty much the gold-standard for mismatching jerseys/pants with stripes on both, which is pretty much what everything since has been.

Then if you *really* want to go throw-back. Wear all white jerseys and helmet and go for the 1940's look.

Just go back to the old uniforms.

whatever they do... just please do something other than white on white every darn Sunday...

I have to agree with this.

Because:

1) There's nothing wrong with our current or old uniforms. Why do they need to keep changing it?
2) White on White sucks. Find another combo, please.

Alec Scheiner's poop stain is almost fully bleached out.

Taste is very subjective. The white on white unis are the only Brown's unis that I even remotely like. I hated the old unis. I do not like brown and orange. I don't like helmets that look like pumpkins and I despise tootsie rolls.

That doesn't make me right or wrong or you right or wrong. People just have different tastes.

I like this but am also torn...if we continue to be bottom dwellers I can see people calling our helmets the "s... stains". But, I admit there is something kinda cool about it.

I do a logo lesson with my students and part of my powerpoint is how do you design a logo for a logoless company? My example is the Browns. Yes, here in Portland they all roll their eyes because they love to give me crap about my team. But, I am amazed at how many DON'T know why we are called the Browns (and why should they?), but after we go through my powerpoint that starts at 1945 and makes its way through the years with the introduction of the elf, dog, and other various adaptations to create a "marketable" or identifiable logo to brand the franchise, we ultimately come back to the original design of honoring tradition. We discuss how the current logoless helmets are a nod to the old leather helmets painted orange and all of them leave with a better understanding and those who love sports often say to me they have a greater respect for them ("even though they suck!" - they always have to throw that in, but with a joking smile and a "see you tomorrow" exit).

Yeah, so it is obvious that the two-year period made these unit worth the wait. I think they stunk it up pretty well. Our merchandise folks do not seem to get it.

And I about threw up reading this. Uniform change is the burning issue, our most pressing concern. Put Chief Wahoo on it, Cavs logo, and The Land. But our orange numbers and such are lame. This is that logical fallacy that new is automatically superior. Again.

Plain old blue collar city is satisfied with plain old style unis.

I'm more concerned with what they stuff in them come game day...

I think my main reasoning for not liking the white on white is you can see the utter distress our QBs go through (most their fault) when after the first quarter, their white uniforms are almost brown lol.

In addition to the uniform change, I hope there is also a logo change. I love the helment and all but I don't what that to be our official logo. Get something else going.
