With Sherman being released, would we be intrested in filling both needs with Sherman and Earl. Send a 3rd and fix our secondary with two that know each other very well.

You think they would accept a 3rd round pick for Earl Thomas?

I'm convinced if Seattle is going to talk turkey with Earl, any response to a trade below a second round pick would be "ok, thanks, bye" and quite frankly, I think even if we offered our #33 pick overall, first in the second round (which I don't think I approve of), they will ask/require the pot to be sweetened. Plus, you're going to have to secure he's willing to extend his contract here and likely be his last place of playing. He willing to do that?

As for Sherman... as long as I don't listen to him run his mouth, his Achilles is healed properly - I'd love to see him in our secondary. T. Johnson also a notable mention.

Also, welcome to the board!

Was a long time member, but username didnt work anymore....but good to be back.

And it looks like they are gonna be "rebuilding"...and Earl is a FA next season, couldn't hurt to be able to offer something in return and a nice extension as IMO he is top FS in the game. ATM. A backfield of mccourty, thomas, peppers sherman would be a great start before the draft hits. Could allow for a barkley/qb strategy.

With Sherman and Lane being cut, they'll save about $15m, they'll use that to extend Thomas. I can't imagine he's really available for trade, unless someone offers a ridiculous amount. Knowing that anyone trading for him will need to extend him as well, I can't see anyone giving up more than a 2nd.

Regarding Sherman, he's said he wants to go to a contender. I can see him going to New England or Dallas.

agreed, this is the kind of trap we fall into almost every year... big name on the tall end of career, gets that Cleveland payday and snickers into the sunset

Big names like who? Kenny Britt?

Also, do we fit this description:

Quote:
Asked Richard Sherman what he’s looking for in his next team: “Looking for a great fit. A team that has a great QB. Looking for somewhere I will be comfortable.” Who fits that description?

Willie Mcginest Dwayne Boew, Ben Watson, Ted Washington, David Patten, David Bowens, Scott Fujita, Robert Griffeth.

Just the ones that come to my mind.

None of those guys are what I would consider big names. If that's the definition then I guess the above poster is correct.

I think you both are over valuing what a 30 year old corner coming off an Achilles tear is.

Andre Rison?

I hesitated to bring that up because of the memories.

Geesus is everything a debate or argument?

If you can’t admit FA failures

I know why so many posters don’t come here anymore

You got the wrong guy. I just don't think we've had any "big name" free agents by my definition. I am literally just wondering what you meant.

I am sorry if you felt like I jumped on you.

Wait! So Britt isn't available?

Elephant Graveyard approach again? Aging Sherman, issues and injuries. No thanks.

This thread is weird. LOL I'm almost afraid to reply.

I don't know........I think our secondary stinks. I think Sherman and Thomas would help us. Would they be worth the cost? I don't know about that. But man, it's not like we can be real picky.
