Joe doesn't think like most guys. I believe he can walk away with no regrets and perfect content about it.

I wonder how Tyrod Taylor will move the needle in terms of getting Joe to come back. What about having Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry and the #1 & #4 pick? Does Joe get to pick #1 and #4? Mack and Schwartz?

Maybe, but I see Joe wanting to play one more season....not to end his career with injury....with veteran QB, with Landry, and CB for a terrible QB, he's watching a veteran GM help the team...JMHO, he plays one more year....GO Browns!!!!

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I'm betting Thomas gives us one more year now. If not more. Football is a funny game, of course, but this team seems poised to win more than it has in a very long time. I don't see Thomas missing it for the world.

Not sure if somebody else posted this thought, but I have been thinking about it recently. If JT does retire (I think yesterday's blockbuster trades may help keep him playing at least for another season), as this is a stronger class for guards than tackles...what if we shift Bitonio to LT, which he played in college and draft one of the guards?

I believe the Browns have said on several occasions that they will not move Bitonio to LT. He's best suited for his current position. No need to weaken a point of strength.
I considered your initial thought as well as in how these trades might impact JT's decision. I'd imagine he should make a decision by Mon. or Tues.

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/03/joe_thomas_has_said_i_really_l.htmlJoe Thomas says 'I really like' Tyrod Taylor -- but will it be enough to keep him from retiring? Updated 11:56 AM; Posted 11:24 AM 47 Gallery: Cleveland Browns: Joe Thomas, a look back 0 shares By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Once Joe Thomas came to grips with the fact that the Browns weren't going to pursue Kirk Cousins, he turned his attention to the next level of quarterbacks and zeroed in on one: Buffalo's Tyrod Taylor. Now that the Browns have shipped a third-round pick to the Bills for the 2015 Pro Bowler, will Thomas come back to block for him? He's been campaigning for Taylor on his ThomaHawk podcast for the past few months. During the January 31 edition, Thomas said "maybe I'm just a closet Tyrod Taylor fan. I don't know, but I really like him.'' On another segment, he noted that Taylor was the most underrated guy in free agency and "I like him better than all of those second-tier guys." But enough to brush off the chronic pain in his back and knees, flex that surgically-repaired left triceps tendon and come back and play out the final year of his contract? One source close to Thomas said it's "possible.'' Thomas, 33, has kept everyone guessing, but will likely make his announcement over the next few days -- giving the Browns time to seek his replacement in free agency or trade if necessary. Teams can begin negotiating for free agents on Monday, and consummate deals on Wednesday at 4 p.m. One source close to the Browns told cleveland.com at the NFL Scouting Combine last week that at least some in the building believe Thomas will retire. Others close to the future Hall of Famer aren't so sure, saying perhaps these moves -- including trading for three-time Pro Bowl receiver Jarvis Landry and Packers cornerback Damarious Randall -- could entice him to come back. At the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards in January, Thomas said the team's moves wouldn't govern his decision. "For me, I am interested with what goes on with the team, but that's not going to affect my decision,'' he said. "Really for me, my decision is just going to come down to do I feel like I'm healthy enough to survive another season." He noted that it wasn't his triceps tendon that was the issue. He's confident that will be fine, and said he's on pace to be ready in June or July. "Really for me, knee and back are the primary issues that I've been dealing with a number of years,'' he said. In the meantime, Thomas auditioned for Fox Sports and ESPN recently, telling WKYC's Dave Chudowsky last week that he's been "putting himself in front of the decision makers'' and added that "the end is coming sooner than later." He added, "it's kind of like picking a college, one day you think it's this school, the next it's another." But Thomas has always wanted to experience the playoffs, and the recent moves -- coupled with five draft picks in the first 64 -- might have him feeling some victories coming on in 2018. At the Sports Awards, he made the case that the Browns could contend for a championship with the right moves this offseason. "Now let's just say for instance they sign Kirk Cousins and they picked up, I don't know who's out in free agency, but the best skill player in free agency and you get the first and the fourth pick, whoever you want to take,'' he said. "Your team is really, really, really good all of a sudden overnight. And really if I think about where we were last year as a team, we weren't that far away from winning a few games. Except for a couple very terrible mistakes, we probably would've been 3-13, 4-12 and all of a sudden now you infuse 3 or 4 Hall of Famers, I would argue you have a chance to win the Super Bowl." If he feels the same scenario is possible with Taylor, will he come back for a chance at his first playoff season in his 12-year career? We'll know in the next few days, but Taylor might want to jump on the phone.

For what it's worth (probably nothing), I'm listening to Thomahawk podcast emergency episode they put out today and Joe is very happy with the Taylor trade.
He even went as far as to say "us in Cleveland" vs "The Browns" in 3rd person as he's been saying.
Like I said, doesn't mean anything but giving me hope he comes back!

Yeah, I haven't listened yet, but my friend told me he just said he's retiring on the Thomahawk show. I don't believe him. But if you're telling me it's not official I'll believe you over him.

I would proceed like Thomas is retiring. Reminds me of the way Farve ended his career. Too much drama. If it's taking Joe this long to make up his mind about playing next year its not good.
I just want a winner. We need players who can be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Well the next two days we should finally know if Joe Thomas is hanging up his cleats or not. I'd personally like to see him come back for another 10,000 snaps but that's just wishful thinking.
If he does decide to retire, he will still have all the respect and admiration I can muster. BUT if he comes back, he will have just a little more, even if I have to steal it from a Steeler.

If JT does indeed retire, I believe Nate Solder is a FA... Indeed he is, but there are 2 issues with Solder. 1) He is the only true left tackle in free agency so he is about to become the highest paid left tackle in football. 2) He has a son with pediatric kidney cancer, and has come out discussing the fact that he isn't even sure he wants to play any more, and is considering retiring and focusing on his son. So, even he isn't a sure thing to be the tackle of the future.

Joe had a wedding to attend this weekend. If he doesn't retire, our goal is to get to the playoffs for him next season.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I wish he'd say something about his plans, since free agency has begun ......
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Which is essentially free agency. If the NFL wants to be honest with itself, free agency began weeks ago.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Thomas is owed 3 million on 3/18. So, it is pretty safe to say that we will know before 3/18 what is happening with JT.

Sure is looking like we'll be reading a heartfelt "thank you" post/podcast/statement from JT in the next few days... I just want whatever is best for him. I don't even care what's best for the Browns in that regards. Joe has earned it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, this would only be funny if he does in fact decide to stay.

Yeah Joe... it's getting decision time. You've earned the right to take time on the matter and time has been taken and the majority of what "splash" moves we've made are likely already over with. I'm sure they've briefed you in on what they now want to do/attempt further in FA and in the draft, so let's hear it. I don't want to pass on someone, like Nate especially, while we continuously wait for a certain one someone/individual. It becomes a LeBron James situation kind of then where it dictates and etc. I love you Joe in the biggest way a straight guy can love another man possible, you're the best LT in the game - but it's getting time. We're "needing" to know, now, I feel.
