At this time, I don't want that to happen.
But if it does, we'd need to promote from within for the short term, perhaps longer. Would it be Williams or Todd? Which assistant under either of them would be best-suited to be a short-term - again, perhaps longer - coordinator? I don't know even their names, tbh.
I'm not sure Williams wants to be a HC again, but I don't know.
Thoughts?

Pretty sure Hue will not be fired in the middle of the season. If we start 0-4, 1-5, it's quite possible. If for no other reason than for optics.

Would it be Williams or Todd? I'd imagine it would be Todd. But I don' see it happening. I think this might be a quality coaching staff (if they all can co-exist)

He's 1-31, but none of that was his fault lol. I really hope he learned from his boneheaded gaffs and we won't be having these discussions much longer.

There is so much cool stuff going on.
So many topics to discuss.

Why go there?

Lets pray Hue is fired this October. I'm praying we're undefeated... if hue is fired that means for another year we suck... I'm tired of sucking...I'm tired of being the butt of every broadcaster and radio guy.... We haven't hit the draft yet and we're talking about what happens if our coach isn't fired within the first four or five games.... unreal...

For crying out loud can we wait until we see what actually happens on the field? Not trying to be a downer, just starting a topic I thought might be interesting. Grow up, a fresher discussion on our HC and his potential replacement if we can't win next season, shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings.

I think that's why Dorsey brought in Todd Haley to be honest ... either he intends to fire Hue or he's getting his next guy in place just in case

Why stop there - let's talk about when Doresy is fired in 2019 - who do we want to be GM? And what about 2020 - which new HC should we go after?

Second that. But if we produce after allowing some early roughness for a "shakedown" period, I don't see it happening.

Hue got to choose his own coaches. I think you're reaching here. Haley's one of the best OC in football. Hue liked his philosophy and felt he'd be an improvement to the team, so Hue hired him

By all accounts Hue is a good leader of men and the guys like him. He has less items on his slate and can concentrate on HC issues. His staff is superb and he shouldn't need to micro manage. Hue is getting all the tools for success he could realistically hope for. If he's a solid HC it should show this year. I'd like to see this crew get 2-3 seasons if we show some promise.

The GM signing an OC is just a disaster in waiting. Dorsey may have recommended him, but if Hue didn't want him, Haley wouldn't be here.

I don't want Hue fired in October. That means we are sucking again.
I could see him gone at seasons end if we don't get 8-9 wins. This team is set up to push for the division.

This team is set up to push for the division. I have not even begun to think about expectations yet - every year the off season is like the Browns playoffs and the draft is the Suber Bowl ... and I always start to turn up the hope factor every year. So far I've kept that impulse in check .... But I know that when the FA and draft is over, I am going to be thinking 8 wins or more. How could you not? Add a stud CB and another competent WR to play alongside Gordon and Landry .... heck thinking of winning now makes Barclay all the more attractive playing alongside Tyrod. That's an offense with a lot of options and I have faith Hailey will find a way to utilize. And we have the ability to add a lot more than just a starting CB, WR and RB. . . . hell forget Hue and any other angst we might have with FO. Put virtually any other QB on the Browns last year and we win games. Maybe as many as 5. So the leap to 8 is probably not a stretch in my eyes. . .

Hue's CV pales in comparison to Haley's... Hue was not in the position to attract anyone at Haley's level, so it's only logic to think it was the Gm that hired him.

I think it's a relevant topic. Hue has coached the Browns to a single victory in 32 tries. Let that sink in. We have to look at the possibilities of what will happen if we start out ofer 4 or 5. The Browns fan in me says this is a real possibility, but he also hopes we're 5-0 in October.

But the draft hasn't even unfolded yet. It's like buying baby clothes for a boy when you have no idea if it's a boy or girl yet even. Him not calling plays itself could be a game changer for his persona. Take the finger off the triggers guy lol. I think we'll have a great feel for the Browns after the draft, a better feel after preseason and likely a I KNOW IT feel a few games into regular season. All of that is still a ways away. JMO

Actually it sound like a robust plan...Firing Sashi to buy one year, and Hue to buy another one...

I wasn't trying to stir the pot, it's not my style. I was just thinking last night about which coordinator might be an interim HC next season if the worst happens (and I don't want Hue fired).

The problem is, it's very rare that firing a HC mid season has brought about any real, positive results. In most cases it just adds to the confusion. So while I certainly won't say it's impossible, I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned optics.
While I get labeled as such, I don't blindly support Hue. I am happy that they have made the decision to bring in Dorsey and crew to improve the team and the roster and chose to give Hue a single season to see what Hue can do with more talent. My reasoning is actually much more about the optics than anything. I believe most everyone in the league can see the huge upgrade we made in the FO. People certainly have differing views about Sashi and that's fine. But there's certainly no doubt that from an experience and success angle, the combination of our FO personnel has improved by leaps and bounds. So IMO the FO shake up makes perfect sense and makes the Browns a much more attractive destination for not only FA players moving forward but also HC candidates.
This FO agreeing to give Hue one more year actually helps in future HC hirings IMO. Sometimes things are more about perception than facts. Unlike some fans, I do believe we have if not the worst, one of the worst rosters in the NFL. I believe that's something pretty well agreed upon across the league. In that regard I believe the perception of firing Hue at the end of last season would have been that he never actually had a chance for success here. Be that right or wrong, I certainly believe that would have been the perception.
I believe that by giving Hue year three we actually improved that perception moving forward.
So while I will certainly address your scenario, I don't see anything positive in changing your HC mid season other than the suggestion made about it being for optics alone. And when trying to attract the best possible replacement moving forward, I'm not so sure those optics are such a good one. But here goes..... lol
I believe the choice would be a rather obvious one. IMO it would be Haley. It's a hire that was made after Dorsey took over. I know it may sound cliche but he's a Dorsey hire. Now we can debate whether he was selected by Hue or Dorsey, but the fact remains the hire was was approved and endorsed by Dorsey. He certainly holds the resume' to be qualified.
Just to make something clear here. I'm not blind to the fact that Hue certainly hasn't done himself any favors with some of his decisions. He's going to have to take a big leap forward to keep his job after the 2018 season. And if he doesn't accomplish that I will be in line with expectations to see him gone.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

My immediate question was about Why October? That would presume the bottom drops out. Don't want him fired yet. Has a bunch to prove.

Fans are idiots sometimes, this being one of them.
You have to skip right over Sashi sabotaging any attempt at winning.
The problem I see here is you all still haven't come to grips with the idea you had heading into the season last year, you thought that we could win last season you still can't see that we had not so much as a sliver of a chance at winning. We had no chance, I said it last year I will say it again now for those that are struggling getting a grip, really?
I love to kick it with passionate fans but you guys take the cake, you really do !

Whatever you say.
BTW, I was more interested in discussing Hue's potential replacement from our current staff (if he's let go mid-season) and not whether I or anyone else think he SHOULD be fired. You and a few others should read my original post and ramp up your comprehension skills.
