Broncos president of football operations/general manager John Elway had made finding a long-term solution at quarterback the priority of the offseason after the Broncos limped to a 5-11 finish this past season with an offense that finished the year tied for 26th in scoring. Elway has said early in the offseason "for us to have a chance to get better we have to get better at that position.'' The Broncos had three quarterbacks start games this past season -- Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler -- but it was a bumpy ride on offense as the Broncos were among the league leaders in turnovers and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was fired in November. Only the winless Cleveland Browns threw more interceptions than the Broncos' 22 and the Broncos had just one receiver catch more than 50 passes and finished with more than 560 yards receiving -- Demaryius Thomas with 83 catches and 949 yards. At the scouting combine, two weeks before free agency opened, Elway did compare the "fluid'' nature of chasing a quarterback in free agency this year to the pursuit of Manning. "Even with Peyton, we weren't a for sure thing with Peyton,'' Elway said. "That was always fluid, too, but he was our target." For Keenum, he will now face a pile of expectations in a quarterback-crazed region that saw its team win a Super Bowl just two seasons ago. Keenum's teams are 20-18 in his games as a starter and he had both of his career playoff starts this past January for the Vikings. The Broncos haven't made the playoffs since their Super Bowl win to close out the 2015 season and their inconsistent play in both the offensive line and at quarterback have been big reasons why they've sat out the postseason. Elway said in recent weeks he still believed the team could get back into the postseason mix with an upgrade behind center. "I still think we're not too far away,'' Elway said. "Obviously we have to get better at that position. We didn't play well there last year. That doesn't all go on the players. There were some things that we should have done that we should have done differently that we didn't do. I feel like we can get right back in the thick of the things rather quickly. I think we still have a good defensive football team.'' http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22740...-denver-broncos

So I wonder what this does for their plans forward. If they still plan to draft a quarterback at 5 (or trade up) or if they think Case Keenum is the guy.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up trading down with the Bills at 12.
Seems unlikely that they draft a QB at #5 now but I could be wrong.

Denver basically just did what we just did with TT. In my opinion, it still doesn't take them out of the QB derby in the draft. But it takes some pressure off their top pick
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

No it doesn't. Very good possibility that Broncos draft QB @ 5.

Yeah, I feel the same too. They have to win now,so they will not take a QB at 5... they could trade for Nick Foles or Eli, though...

I think they will want to take advantage of hte QB prospects because they aren't leaning on people they have (Keenum and Lynch) for the future. Lynch doesn't seem to generate much buzz there and Keenum sure sounds like a bridge QB signing. If they go after Foles or Eli then yes, I definitely agree they won't be peaking at QBs anymore.

I don't see Denver moving up for a QB now but if the guy they like falls to 5 I think they'll jump on him, if that doesn't happen then they'll go another direction.

Buffalo is going to try real hard to move up and draft a QB.
Cousins at Vikings no mystery there and now Keenum at Denver...he aint no long term QB for them. Lynch, what is the story with that kid? We will see I guess at the draft. As they might have a shot at Allen, do they take him and release Lynch or keep both and let Keenum mentor both Lynch and Allen. See you Brock.

And those are two prime reasons we take a QB at #1 instead of waiting around for other teams leftovers like we've done so many times in the past.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

and hope Jets and Bills move to 2 and 3 , take QB's and Barkley falls in our lap At this point, I fully expect it. The Jets will be looking to trade up to get ahead of the Broncos. The Bills are looking to trade up. I bet Arizona will be looking to trade up (maybe not as eager). And if there's a guy the Broncos really like, they might want to trade up too. We might get our QB, a trade down from 4, and Barkley if we're really lucky. But I think we'll see these quarterbacks go early. Real early EDIT: Oh yeah, I think the Giants very well could take a QB at number 2 also. If they don't take Bradley Chubb

I disagree on the G-men. Their oline is a shambles, and they've just lost their best one to FA. With Gettelman now the GM,a guy who believes in strong lines,I see them trading out and using the bounty to rebuild that horrible oline.
Indecision may,or maynot,be my problem

Just going off what Shurmur said in an interview. He said that the last time they had the number 2 pick they used it on Lawrence Taylor who they teamed up with Carl Banks (Pick 3) to win a Super Bowl EDIT: And then the media guys were talking about the Giants possibily selecting Bradley Chubb. I'm not sure if it was local media (I like in the NY Market) or the Schefter/Mortensen Podcast
