Lots of QB pieces moving around, but I am not sure most teams are getting better. (except perhaps the Broncos with Keenum, and us with Taylor)

We went from the 3 headed QB fail machine of Kizer, Hogan, and Kessler, to Taylor. Taylor's not a slam dunk Pro Bowler, but he is definitely an upgrade over last year, and he takes care of the ball. He is a one year placeholder, here only to get us to our franchise guy.

Denver went from a group of QBs, headlined buy a guy we cut. Keenum has to be a big upgrade there.

The Vikings go from Keenum to Cousins. Wash, IMHO.

The Jets go from McCown to Bridgewater. I have always considered Bridgewater to be a very average type QB, questionable if he is an upgrade over McCown, and there is a major injury risk.

The Cardinals go from Palmer to Bradford. Possible upgrade, if his knees hold up. (which is very questionable IMHO)

Lots of moving parts, but only a couple of upgrades.

Also, you need to realize, that teams have more cap than ever before, so all salaries and G$ will go up.

Out of curiosity and I'm not asking to start an engagement/argument/say someone is right/wrong, more so curiosity at hand - but would you have dropped 28mil a year on the likes of Kirk then?
As a Browns fan, who have not seen a competent QB play in going on 19 years. . . in a heartbeat.

You lost me on this. Your talking about a guy who managed to win due to the having the best Def in the league, to a guy that has thrown for over 5K yards with no team around him. . . . .

Isn't he regularly hurt?

I hope we just get back Terrell Pryor

EDIT: Maybe we can get Jordan Matthews?

Keenum lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship game... Anything less than a Super Bowl title with Cousins is a failure, no?

We'll see how he does in Minnesota.

I would have loved Cousins here, because we would be upgrading from very little. Keenum played very well for the Vikings last year. I don't know if Cousins will be much of an upgrade, if at all.

We'll see.

Exactly. Some may spin it that way, but he's in a Vikings uni to improve the chances of a Super Bowl, but I don't think it's a failure on his or the teams part if that doesn't happen. Obviously, the pressure is there and to some extent every team "fails" if they don't win a Super Bowl, but I wouldn't say it's Super Bowl championship or bust for the Vikes with one signing.

I think they got better with Cousins, but are they the clear cut favorites to win a title? Doubt it.

In some ways, winning that Saints game kind of hurt them. I think they were right where they were supposed to finish, losing in the divisional round. Getting to the NFCCG would have been the next step, but that one safety took the worst angle ever and boom, Diggs is a hero.

I think our initial feelers out there with AJ's agent was that he was looking for some big pay day. All these guys are going to find a home but I don't think AJ is a JG and Dalton is not Brady. He is going to have to take a show me contract from somebody I guess.

I've pretty much said that all along. Every QB wants a starting role and doesn't want a #1 QB pick waiting in the wings. However, you have to find a team willing to do that. AJ was never going to find that.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I know what you're saying, but I don't see it as the true black and white outcome.

Vikes win a Super Bowl - Justifies Cousins contract and proves everyone wrong.
Vikes never win Super Bowl - Horrible failure of Cousins and everyone involved must be fired.

He can make them better and improve their chances to win a title, but he's still just one player on a very big roster. Heck, Brees and the Saints should have won that playoff game but one player made the mistake of his life and flushed it down the drain. That wasn't a Saints or Brees failure, it was a bad luck play of a rookie. Sucks, but it happens.

If Cousins throws 90 TDs, 20 INTs, thousands of yards, gets them into the playoffs all three years and even goes deeper into the playoffs one of the three years, it's a successful free agent signing regardless of if they ever win the Super Bowl. I know some will say otherwise, but there are too many variables to say right now, "it was a bad signing if they never win a Super Bowl with Cousins".

Okay this is the snippet off Rotoworld:

Quote:
The move clears $10.2 million in cap space and leaves behind a modest $2.3 million in dead money. It's a stunning development in that Nelson is a Packers institution, but it's not surprising in the context of a soon-to-be 33-year-old receiver coming off a concerning campaign. Looking visibly slower, Nelson saw his yards per catch crash to 9.1 in 2017. He struggled with both Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley under center. Despite his age, the drop off was surprising after Nelson bounced back so well from his torn ACL in 2016. Healthy now, Nelson won't hurt for teams wanting to take a flier.

I perhaps was misinformed. Visibly slower? Yikes.
