The #Browns are expected to sign former #49ers RB Carlos Hyde, source said. He’s getting a three-year deal worth more than $15M, including $6M in year 1. 128 replies 615 retweets 860 likes
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Solid pickup. Very similar (if not better) production than Crow. I still want Barkley tho...

I like this signing a lot. I was hoping we'd get him. And it looks like a pretty cheap contract.

I hope this ends the Barkley talk. Be it Barkley or somebody else, Hyde isn't the end all back. We are still going to draft one early on.

Good pickup IMO. Buckeye, right? I want better run production than Crow gave us. Hyde should be good for Duke as well.

Yes but won't be Barkley. Maybe, maybe not. Even if we go QB at 1, there is a chance Barkley is there at #4. There is a chance Chubb is as well. Between the two, i take Chubb knowing at the top of the 2nd there will still be half a dozen backs available who can be workhorse backs in the NFL.

This signing is a good answer to letting Crow walk.

I really like this signing. He can catch out of the backfield as well.
Good move by the Browns.
Shouldn't preclude them from taking one of the RBs at the top of round 2 either.

Hyde is no upgrade to the position, he puts out about the same workload as Crow did.
240 carries 940 yards 8 TD - hyde
206 carries 853 yards 2 td - crow
The big difference here is the TDs, but I would argue if it wasn't for the gazillion RedZone turnovers by Kizer, that number would have been closer.
I see this as a replacement, not an upgrade. I also think we draft a RB (guice) in the second. WE still need an upgrade at this position.

Excellent addition. Perfect duo with Johnson.
Sorry, ya'll, we're not drafting Barkley. At #1 or #4.

Good complement to Duke. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Hyde has some injury history. I still a little worried about that.

Hyde has some injury history. I still a little worried about that. No doubt. I am sure we will draft a back or two Duke, Hyde, drafted rook, Dayes, Vitale. Maybe another drafted rook displaces Dayes. Five guys in the RB room is usually about it.....not counting any practice squad players.

Welcome home, Carlos Hyde...
This signing might be an indication that the Browns have a deal in place for the #1 pick...someone who believes Barkley is worthy of the #1 pick and willing to trade the Browns for the right to choose Barkely #1 in the 2018 draft.
Carlos Hyde can fill the Browns need for a more physical RB, especially in the redzone.

Hyde has some injury history. I still a little worried about that. That has been my problem with Hyde since he turned pro. I love what he can do, but always seemed to be a RB clone of Bradford.

Carlos Hyde can fill the Browns need for a more physical RB, especially in the redzone. That might be a stretch, but not all that far out in left field. The Giants seem interested. Maybe we trade down 1 slot. In a trade like that, we wouldn't need to bust the bank. 2nd rounder this year, 2nd or 3rd next year. I know some are going to scream it needs to include a first. To me, if we know we aren't going to select Barkley at #1, getting a 2nd and change is well worth the trade to draft the guy we were going to draft anyway. Heck, just a 3rd this year would have me interested. Now if there is a lot of interest from teams lower, that is a different ball of wax.

j/c: The @browns reported signing of Hyde reminds me of Vikings with Latavius Murray last year. Vikes also had Jerrick McKinnon (similar to Duke) and still added Dalvin Cook in the draft. https://twitter.com/NathanZegura/status/973904604940455937

Hyde, Johnson, Guice would look nice

Former Vikings’ RB Jerick McKinon intends to sign with the SF 49ers, per source.
They chose Mckinnon over Hyde

Nah, no one is going to trade up to 1 and draft a RB. QB maybe, but definitely not RB.

They chose Mckinnon over Hyde OR...Hyde chose the Browns over SF, forcing the 9ers to go to plan B.

They chose Mckinnon over Hyde OR...Hyde chose the Browns over SF, forcing the 9ers to go to plan B. McKinnion got $30M from 49ers. I think they targeted him. Look I like Hyde and happy to have him on the team but in the 4-5 years he was with SF, he wasn't the back many thought he would be. He was replaceable. Which is why this signing doesn't stop the Browns from taking an RB they really like, no matter the draft slot.

Hate to say but McKinnon/Guice > Duke/Hyde.
I just hope 9ers don't beat us to Guice.

McKinnon...5-9, 205..not even the same kind of back as Hyde. The 9ers moving away from a power back to a back that becomes another WR out of the backfield.
The Browns, playing in the AFC North, understand the need for a back capable of punching a TD in from the 2yd line.

I still want Barkley. For years i keep reading ppl on here say draft BPA, Barkley is that. He's better than Elliott is on paper. Im all for Barkley at 1 and a QB ay #4. I am a Ohio State homer and love this pick-up but Barkley is gonna help any team that drafts him more than a Hyde can. JMHO.

I'm sorry but "He is better than Elliot" that is absolute and total conjecture. That is not anywhere near a fact even "on paper". Zeke had back to back 1,800 yard seasons, Barkley never topped 1,500. Zeke Dominated a playoff run and won a championship being the no doubt MVP. IN Zekes final season everyone in the State of Ohio was complaining about how much they were throwing it and not using Zeke. If "on paper" means the combine, you can keep it.
